Shizuo watched as she explained what her kids were like, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't interested, he'd only ever had Kasuka when he was younger and when his parents died he'd pretty much lived alone wherever would take him. Families fascinated him, how people with such contrasting and different personalities could be so close and caring for each other, although, the same could be said for him and Kasuka. "They both sound like nice enough kids, I mean, with such contrasting personalities I'm sure they butt heads here and there but you sound like a pretty close-knit family..."
He looked across at her solemnly "I-" how should he say this without it sounding really cliché? In short, he couldn't. "I may not know alot about this sort of thing..." he said, pacing his words, thinking before he acted. A rare feat for the beserker. "But you clearly love your sons, and I'm sorry that you've had to send them away... But this city at the moment is a crazy place, you've done the right thing, Aqua."

Aqua is shocked to say the least, but she smiles in gratitude, "Thank you... That means so much to me." She nods slowly and feels as if the conversation has come to a gradual slowing. But she's now more confident with herself and her words, also she's really curious about such a man as Shizuo. So she finds herself asking shyly, ''How about you?"

How about you? The question had thrown Shizuo off his tangeant, although he should have expected to talk about himself in this conversation. "If you're asking about my family... It's a long story, I'm a halfer but my father wasn't a bad man and he didn't deserve what fate brought out to him" now it was his turn to fidget with the bottle in his hands "My story is a tough one, if I do tell you then you have to promise me it never leaves this room, I already have one demon using my past agains me, I don't need anymore finding out."

"You're a halfer as well," Aqua gave a small smile at that, Just like my babies. But then she heard the bad past thing and she nods. "I won't tell a soul, human nor demonic." She swears it seriously to the point where even her expression morphs to one of seriousness.
"But," She adds, getting a little nervous as well and reaching over to place her hand over the male's. "You don't have to if you don't want... I will understand."

Shizuo shook his head "No, it seems that I've been wanting to get this off my chest to anyone who will listen for a while..." he frowned slightly, it was against his character to be so open to people, yet someone needed to know his story. He lived a dangerous lifestyle and he wanted to go down in history and that was for sure.
"We were a happy family, like the start of all cliche tales, my father was a demon who had escaped the Otherworld and started a family with my mother. They treat me like any parents would any child, my father was the only man who would or could restrain me during my fits of rage, were it not for him I'd probably have killed my mother at some point..." he sighed at the memory of his mother, and gave a small smile "She was kind, beautiful, silky brown hair, she was the stereotypical princess you'd expect in a fairytale, but, this story is more one of tragedy rather than happy endings"
He looked Aqua in the eyes, judging her reaction before going on "My father fell ill, he started pumping out tonnes of magical, demonic energy into the air, I had to treat him myself thanks to my halfer blood I was immune to the effects of the energy... But my mother stayed in the home despite both mine and my fathers wishes, she fell ill... Doctors said it was cancer but I knew what it was really. I stood by her bedside as she died... 'Don't be angry' those were her last words, but I couldn't help it, I flew into a rage, nearly tore the whole hospital to pieces and I was only five years old at the time..." he took a deep breath, he'd got the sad part out of the way, now he had to get into the scary stuff, he had to explain just how violent and diabolical any man, even one as seemingly nice as Shizuo, can really be.
"I walked into my fathers room in the dead of night, he coughed and looked up at me... Saw the anger, the spite... The hatred in my face, and he smiled at me, he lifted his head and moved the pillow from under it and lay it across his own chest, he looked me dead in the eye and said 'Do not be afraid, I understand, but know... I love you'' Shizuo looked solemn for a moment, almost close to tears, yet his voice didn't break, if anything he sounded angry. "I took the pillow and smothered him, he didn't fight back and it was done within minutes. Afterwards I realized just how alone I was now in the world, no-one to hold me back, no-one to comfort me... I lay down next to my father and wrapped his arms around me for one last time and cried, for the first time in my life that I can remember, and the last, I wept like a babe." he sighed, moving his hand from underneath Aqua's and plunged them both into his pockets.
"I've spent ever since hunting demons, I don't believe that any child should have to go through what I did..." he spat, his voice layered with poison and spite at himself "No child should have to become the monster that I have..."

With his life story done, Aqua finds herself feeling not afraid of him, just sad. He's right, no child should of gone through what he did, but she can't bring herself to say that she agrees. Her gaze takes him in as she pulls her hand back and it balls into a fist over her heart, and her expression isn't really one of sorrow, but the look a mother gives their child when their trying to comfort them. Warm, but also filled with a loving strength.
After a minute she finds her voice, "...I'm so sorry..." This is all she can think to say to him and about his past, she understands the pain of losing one you loved, watching them die before your eyes. And she can understand the burning rage to avenge them, but from there she knows she can't related. Even though she can't she just wants to get up and embrace Shizuo, hold him and let him know that even though what he did was wrong... He's not a monster, at least not in her eyes. But then again, that's always been her, forgiving in the long run. "...Very, very sorry... But...I'm glad you told me, Shizuo..."
This poor, tortured man.

Shizuo nodded "It feels better to have it off my chest... I'll admit that much" he stood up straight and turned to Kasuka "I'll be right back" he said to his cousin who turned around, clearly somewhat intoxicated, and gave him the thumbs up. Shizuo reached into his waistcoat and pulled out a packet of cigarettes. To be honest he hated the habit of smoking but he could never find it within him to turn away "I'm going outside for a moment, feel free to join me" with that he placed a cigarette between his lips, plunged his hands in his pocket searching for a lighter and started walking to the door.
Once outside he managed to find his lighter and clicked back on the small piece of plastic and dipped the tobacco into the flame. Taking a drag on the cigarette he exhaled the excess smoke up into the air and rests against the wall of The Veil, man he'd had a rough day, it wasn't every day he recited his life story and he normally didn't feel comfortable doing as such. But still, he wasn't lying, it felt better to have it all off his chest.

Aqua nods, and takes care of her can, then follows him out. She then comes to stand next to him, not to close, but not very far away either. She watches him from the corner of her eyes, studying him and wishing there was a way to help him ease his self hatred... Even though what he told her was horrible, it still just made her want to hold him, even if she doesn't have the guts to.

Shizuo flicked the small amount of ash building up on the end of the cigarette away and onto the ground before noting that Aqua was watching "W-what?" he asked, suddenly somewhat paranoid "Is there something obvious I'm missing?" he looked down at his outfit, wondering if there was something to attract her attention.

JUST DO IT! Aqua's mind supplies her and she listens, she reaches out and puts her arms around Shizuo's torso. And then says in a small voice as she moves/pulls him closer, "...No... Nothing at all..." She holds him close as she looks away now, still shy to boot.

Shizuo froze, he wasn't quite sure what to do in this situation... First of all he made sure to flick his cigarette away, not wanting to burn Aqua or leave her smelling like smoke. But what now? He thought for a moment before realizing that if he stayed like this she was going to think he was being hostile, so instead he brought his left arm around her shoulders. She barely came up to his neck so he had no trouble on that end "So..." he said with a small chuckle "What did I do to earn this?"

What did he do to do this? Her mind repeats once, then twice to her as she looks back with her eyes widening. He isn't pushing her away or yelling, that's a good sign, so she she gives a weak smile, "You looked like you needed something..." Her words growing confident again as she feels the warmth from his arm seeping into her shoulders. "...This is the first thing I could think of to give you." And that's mostly true... She has been wanting to hug him for a few minutes now.

Shizuo simply smiled "I suppose that's fair enough!" he said with a chuckle as he stood there, shielding Aqua from the biting wind, he remained silent for a while before whispering "Thank you..." he had his eyes closed and was still smiling "I really did need this I guess..." he looked up at the sky and frowned slightly, the clouds were gathering nearby. Probably just the night seeping in but either way, it was getting dark "You gonna' be ok getting home tonight?" he asked looking down at her edgily.

Aqua was smiling and enjoying the embrace, she lets out a shaky laugh when he thanks her, "Any time." But then he asks if she could walk home on her own and for some reason she felt her heart thud heavily in her chest, she doesn't want to leave him quite yet. He made her feel... Like Dia did... So she says softly, “I live far from here...And I... I would love if you would join me on the walk home... Only if you wanted to though.” She lets go of Shizuo, starting to pull away from him, afraid his answer will be no.

Shizuo took warmth from the embrace but when she pulled away he acted instinctively, reaching out he grabbed her hand in his for a moment then suddenly realized how swiftly he had acted and let go and tried to regain his composure, his 'calm' that had gained him such a reputation in the city "Um, yeah..." he said, scratching the back of his head "Sure... I'll make sure you get home safe" He pulled out his phone and quickly dropped Kasuka a text
Walking Aqua home, try and be as sober as possible for when I get home.
With that he looked across to Aqua and gave her a smile "We should get going before it gets any later..."
