"From all the giggles," I said, "I'm guessing that's a yes."
I sighed, then shrugged.
"Why not? I did offer, after all." I looked at her. "We'll need to find someplace for you to sleep ntil I can get a second bed in here..." It was a little awkward to talk about in front of guests, but I guessed they wer helping her move.

Aqua is quite surprised at this and she shakes her head, "Namine...? Why don't you just have, I don't know, Darla help you bring over your mattress or something?"
What Aqua got as a response was not what she was expecting. Namine stared at her before jumping up and running over to Neku and crying on him. Her words blurring together. But what could be made out was "doesn't" and "anymore".

A sobbing, disheveled bundle of Namine was on me in an instant. I couldn't understand what she was saying at all, but I did what I knew I needed to - gave her a great big hug.
"It's okay," I said. "Whatever's going on, you've got me now, alright?" I patted her back.

I couldn't nod and I couldn't shake my head, hell, I could just barely breath between sobs. And Neku just doesn't understand... I need Angel in my life... With out him... I don't know what to do... With out him... I really am less than nothing.
After a minute I hear Aqua call over, "Sorry."
Now I shake my head and look up to see Neku's eyes and I can smile, "No... Qau... Thank you... You..." I can't finish, but I think she gets it.

No. I didn't understand. Not really. But... I hoped that maybe, someday, I could stand in for what she'd lost. I hugged her a little bit closer.
Her eyes met mine, and I smiled back. I hoped that she was able to take some kinda comfort from that, at least.

Aqua smiles at the two and then glances down at the letter in her hand. Sighing she decides there is no better time than now. She stands and walks over to the two hugging and holds out a letter, "Its for you, Neku."
Namine gives the bluenette a confused look and then hugs Neku tighter.

I look for a moment at the hand writing before shaking my head, "What's it say?"

(The Letter)
Dearest Neku,
I bet you're wondering why Namine has shown up at your doorstep? Well rest assured I sent her there, last night is the last night I shall allow myself to ever get that angry with her, to ever do something like that to her. Thus I sent her to you.
Now before you come roaring down upon me, I would like you to consider Namine's feelings like I've refused to do for a little under a year. Would she really want me gone, completely erased from her life? If she does just let me know, I'll leave.
If not.
Well, tell her she needs you more than she needs me, its true after all. I know its wrong to dump all of this on you, but I love her enough to let her go. So please take her in.
And if you really love her.
Help her heal.
One day I may come back, when I do I hope to be a better man. One that can proudly call her my friend. Not what I've become.
Now onto the you factor.
If you fail in this job I've put on you, well, lets just say you have the Network, I have the Academy and several demon friends whom wouldn't mind kicking your ass a couple times, alright? Now be a good boy and take care of the person whom keeps us both up at night. The one we worry about, cry with, smile with, laugh with, and love most.

My eye twitched.
Just like that. Just like freaking that, huh? 'Before you get angry' indeed. My knee-jerk reaction was to shred the thing, but... dammit, it sounded so reasonable, it was ticking me off! How dare he try and dictate to me what to do? 'You have the Network, I have the Academy'? THat... that...
"Arrogant jackass!" I growled, a crushing wave of force turning the paper into a nicely-squished little ball that got immediately shot into the trashcan.
I paused, took a deep breath.
"He says you'll be living here for a while," I said to Namine. "He also said a lot of pretty things about repentance and how he was going to go and become a better man and a whole bunch of things that I don't really know whether they're true or not, and then he threatened me if I couldn't keep you safe." Under my breath, I added, "Like he's got the right to say anything. Jerk."

Before Neku can respond I pull up all the reasons I have to be happy about this moment and I pull him in for a kiss, extremely proud of both of my boys. But mostly over joyed and I want to share that joy with Neku.
I'm happy! You should be happy!
those are the thoughts I direct at him, trying my darnest to get him away from being angry. He scares me when mad.

She was kissing me again. It was pretty unexpected, not that I was complaining; I returned in kind.
Mmm. I could really get used to this.

"Um..." Aqua takes a step back, suddenly having second thoughts about having Namine move in. "Will you two be able to... um... y'know... Be responsible about this thing... I know how teens work and I, um...?" She wasn't ready for this kind of thing yet, she's still dealing with it herself after all! And Aqua is only worried because, well, she feels she is now Namine, Shiki, and Neku (most definitely them and some other unmentioned characters that includes Tifa's territory of mothering) honorary mother. She just doesn't want them to do anything stupid.
But of course Namine has to brake away from Neku and turn a rather embarrassed glare at Aqua. The mother just crosses her arms, "Just promise me you won't do anything stupid you two."

I felt my face going redder than it had probably ever gone in my life. "I-I-I... n-no, ma'am. I mean, I had no intentions of....!"
Aaaahghhhhhh!!! my brain screamed. W-why did she have to go and say THAT?!
And, of course, I hadn't been thinking anything about it until she went and said something.
Nonononono!! I told myself. Stop it! No thining bad thoughts! Agghhhh!
"Aqua...!" I groaned.
