I nodded.
"Kanna's friends helped me reprogram them... I still don't quite know how they did it, or what they did. I've tried looking at the programming, and I have tweaked it just a bit, but some of it is... even beyond me."
I guess it must have seemed strange, coming from a fourteen-year-old, but I was one of the best hackers that most people had ever encountered. Even though I was young, I was still good at what I did.
And what Kanna's friends had shown me had only shown me how much more I could grow.

"They're definitely interesting." He replied before he pushed himself off of the wall he'd been leaning against. "You said that you needed to go to the Veil, right? Is there anyone you were looking for, specifically?" He asked as innocent curiosity overcame him as he turned to face Haraken. Yet another strange turn of events in Urbadelphia. A device that allowed humans to see demons and crossings.
(So short. >_<)

I nodded.
"An internet contact... someone called... 'Sairen'?"
He probably didn't know him; even if he did, he likely didn't know him by his alias. Still, it couldn't hurt to try. Besides, I realized... I kind of liked this man. His good cheer was somewhat infectious.

"Sairen...Sairen." He muttered quietly before shaking his head. "Nope, can't say I've heard of him. Though I don't exactly have an internet connection right now...or a computer." He replied, the last sentence spoken with a bit of a sheepish smile. Not many people living in the Labyrinth apartment blocks had computers so it wasn't unusual. "You want some company on the way there? I was about to head over." He had always liked the atmosphere at the Veil, because everyone there tended to be abnormal so he felt a little safer among them....as strange as that may sound.

I looked up at him.
"You wouldn't mind?" I asked hesitantly. I was still wary around people I didn't know, I admit, but... I wanted to trust him. To like him.
I think... I realized he was an ally.

"Not at all. Besides it's my day off and I could use the walk." He said with his ever present smile still on his face before he began walking in the direction of the Veil. "So, how long have you been in Urbadelphia?" He asked as he turned his gaze back towards Haraken. It was nice to get out and talk with people again, his job at the All Mart had kept him busy up until now since they were a tad short-handed on the staff.

I shrugged.
"A few weeks," I said quietly. "I'm staying at my aunt's."
Not a lie... she just wasn't here like some people believed.

"Sounds nice, I've been staying in an apartment in the Labyrinth for a few months now." Zack said as he walked with apparently very little rush. He wasn't walking slowly but rather he was more relaxed in his gait, clearly coming along only for the company. If there was one thing about Zack it was that he had a tendency to 'go with the flow'. Sure, regaining his lost memories would have been nice but he wasn't exactly feeling an all consuming drive to do so like many would have.

I smiled. "My aunt's place is on Main Street, actually," I said. "It's in one of the richer apartment complexes... I spend a lot of my time in the Labyrinth, though," I admitted quietly. "Looking for answers..."
That last part was mumbled under my breath, spoken mostly to myself.

"Nice. Have you run into the two who run the demon hunting shop yet?" He asked as he looked over at Haraken with curiosity. The shop had only opened recently but it was already fairly known among the Otherborn. For those that dealt with demons and crossings, that sort of thing didn't stay low key for long. "Anyway, if you're ever in the Labyrinth again then I would suggest avoiding Izaya Orihara. I haven't met him personally but I've heard that he's a real piece of work."

"There's a shop that hunts demons?" I asked, surprised. "I thought the whole thing was a secret..."

He nodded in answer to Haraken's question. "It is secret, but according to the rumours the guys who run it are half demon themselves so..." Zack shrugged casually. "I have no idea if that part's true though. It could just be a couple of Otherborn looking to make a bit of a profit from their abilities."

"Half..." I blinked. "Does that... happen?" I asked.

"Oh yeah, there are plenty of half demons. They aren't normally trusted because of their demonic blood and only a few actually officially work with the Network." He replied before gesturing to the shop as they approached it, through the windows they could clearly see one of the proprietors sitting at the desk in the main room going over paperwork. Specifically the one with a tendency to wear blue trenchcoats. "Others, though still very few, work unofficially." He added before laughing lightly, he couldn't help but remember how Aya kept getting pulled into the Network's business no matter how hard she tried to keep out of it.

"The... Network. Right."
I'd been hearing that term all over the place recently. Seems like once you dig deep enough, they're there. Some form of organization, working against the demons, I guessed.
"And... they accept these half demons? I... I'm not sure I'd be able to trust one, either... from all I've heard about demons..."
I still remembered Sini's lecture about them. How all demons were evil, and not to be trusted. About their unstoppable desires to kill and corrupt... just like something had killed Kanna, and the corruption that had hid it.
