Kenji sighs to himself as he closes his eyes in an attempt to focus on another tactic. He steadily sends his thoughts to the orange haired boy.
"Neku.....I really don't feel like arguing here....at the very least, not in front of all of these guys who follow you. Not the time or place. However, don't lose track here....you can say all you want about caution or planning, but seriously....I think speaking about the steps you plan on taking is pretty important.....a lot of these guys look a little confused too.....explaining a little more clearly might help out a bit."
Sighing, he takes another deep breath and wipes the sweat off his brow. That was harder than he thought it would be....he was always on the receiving end of a mental call after all.....

Avi frowns and places a hand onto Kenji's arm, the doctor sends a glance that can only be read as 'are you okay?' But other than that shows no other signs of concern.
- - -
No, no I am not!
I turn off my phone with a huff, finding out just what I had hoped against. Darn it all!

Kenji, I was getting there. Patience is a virtue, y'know?
I sighed. IT was tiring enough with Namine invading my head. I was much more used to sending than receiving.
"The first step in the plan's already been taken. Lea and I have sent out patrols to deliver advanced warning of these guys' movements. I sent out a request to the only person I can think of who might have reliable information on the Angels. The next step is to wait for contact. Unfortunately, without a way to reliably contact them, or knowledge of how a contact like that would go, we have to wait and let them make their move first."
I sighed, shook my head.
"It's not an attractive option, I know. Sora - what can you tell me about Angels? Do you have any reliable knowledge in that flaming skull of yours? I need to know everything you can possibly tell me. How close are they to the Bible stuff? What would their motivations be other than the ones they've supposedly stated? Knowing is half the battle, or so they say."
I turned to Lea.
"Lea, I need you to coordinate the Halfers, activate the support networks."
Then to Joto. "Kyoshiro, Minato, I need you to work on the defenses. You're my advisors on combat matters - I'm good in a knock-down fight but I havne't had to deal with a serious war before. Worst-case scenarios are Joto's jurisdiction."
Then to Namine.
"Nami...." I paused, registering her upset words. "Namine, I want you on the defensive. If this escalates into war, I want you close to base. There's no one I trust more this close to home, and there's no one I trust more to watch my back. Okay?"
Then I looked towards where Izzy and Haraken were sitting close together, a spot the redhead had marked out for new Network acquaintances. I saw the blue-haired Halfer Rin sitting there as well, even though I'd forgotten to invite him.
"You guys who're new around here, new to the... I guess 'underground' is a good term for it... sorry that this has to be your intro. You're welcome here anytime, and we're going to do everything we can to shelter you if things go bad. We'd welcome you in the fight, too."
I turned to Aqua. "'Qua, I want you to help Nami with the defenses. I know you two aren't on the best of turns, but I'm hoping you can put that aside to work together. You're both good defensive fighters, and you're the mama bear of the Network to Nam's big sister. I also want to talk to you after the meeting's over briefly, about some things."
I turned to Shizuo. "Shizuo; obviously, I want you on the frontlines if things escalate to violence. Things go wrong, you're to take the fight to the enemies. Darla," I nodded to her, "you said you'd go where I sent you. Help Shizuo on the front. You're a powerful fighter, and you're a good standard fighter."
My gaze swept the room.
"The rest of you are floating support. Gravitate toward where you feel like you're needed the most, but be aware you can be reassigned at any time. Some of you, I'll tap later for diplomatic duty if we have the chance to negotiate. But it's best for us to be prepared for the worst." I frowned. "Anyone who has the capability for research - do it. However..."
I frowned.
"Don't go to Izaya. Not for this one. He might know, but I don't want anyone getting into debt for the Network's sake. Not on this, not until it's absolutely necessary... and if it is? I'm going to be the one to do it."
No matter what it cost.

Kenji caught his breath for a moment before smiling at Avi and mouthing a small, 'I'm fine....don't worry.'
Upon hearing the name Izaya, Kenji gave a big smile and began laughing in his head. After all, he was planning to visit him soon anyway. Get his goal accomplished and frustrate Neku at the same time....kill two birds with one stone. He almost let out a few tears from how frustrated he would be, even though Neku isn't really doing it to piss him off.

Darla nods, her hand coming up in a loose fist pump before discreetly patting my back. So many old signals, this one is to keep me calm along with state her concern. I look up and sigh, leaning back in my chair, "Affirmative."
- - -
The doctor nods, removing their hand, frowning in the slightest. But then sighing, wondering what they got themselves into. Although it didn't matter, where ever Kenji went they would fallow... no matter what. Its the only place they can make sure they're at their maximum potential all the time, for even their weak side will stand strong at the halfer's side.

The light shove to her back drags her back to conciousness and the soft comforting words from Sini snaps her to attention. She just barely registers what Neku said, but nods, frowning deeply. Her younger son giving a thumbs up while she can feel the stress of her elder... Oh goodness, what have her children tried to get themselves into.
Her eyes narrow.
She can't allow this madness to continue. Aqua refuses.
- - -
Destani beams to Haku before stretching, they know how to float better than anyone here, they do it all the time. The mostly human girl on the other hand will probably work best in something like Intel, she'll have to remember to tell the blond that before she tries something stupid...

There in one of the rare moments of life is where Sora is very uncomfortable, at the mention of angels he crossed his arms for a moment and thought.
"Actually...you guys already have seen an angel in combat." he took his finger and pointed it at himself. "Me. Well, not me...but the Rider. "
He paused for a moment before explaining. "There is an old story, on the Christian side of religion, you have to dig deep to find this one...but it tells a story of an angel named Zarathos. He was a spirit of justice, dedicated to protecting the innocent...until one day he was tricked and brought into Hell. They tortured him until they drove him mad, he became the spirit of vengeance. His mission to protect the innocent became a perverted desire to punish all the guilty. The Devil got ahold of him and whenever he needs someone to do something for him, he contracts Riders using Zarathos himself."
He sighed, "Of course, whether this is all true is a whole other debate. I mean, the guy who made me Ghost Rider could easily be the Devil, but him being the Devil (if there is any) is unlikely. So...take the story with a grain of salt. Point being though, if we assume the story to be true, you guys can see what I can do: Zarathos may be demonic now but his sheer volume of power remains. If he was truly an angel and if these guys are angels, then their power is vast and focused."

Avi blinks at Sora before beaming, Ah. Yes. Could be quite possible or just the opposite. No matter what... I must assume you're saying that it doesn't matter what we do... With out being on their level we cannot hope to survive? They sigh and push back white strands of hair from their face. Personally I agree with you, from the amount I've heard here all equations points to such... But I believe in a human belief, that with perseverance anything can happen...
I blink once, twice.
My gaze turns onto Sora, totally unamused, opening my mouth I go to speak when Darla beats me to it, "Alright. Angel big, powerful, scary. Got it... Know anything we didn't already know?" She sighs, but says no more, as if she was trying to stop something fro... oh, right, her power... She must want to keep all our ties tether for this fight. Alright, fine.
So I sigh and lean forward, watching the room, not commenting, not even thinking up strategies... what was the point? If what Sora said was true then we're all screwed anyways. Pointless, utterly pointless. Sure, I can be angry, but that doesn't change what's bound to happen...
So stupid.

Suddenly, a Scarf burst into the back room, clutching at a stitch in their side from all of the running that they'd been partaking in over the last few minutes. The paused for a moment, bending over double as they took a moment to try and catch as much of their breath as possible, just enough so that they could string together a legible sentence and allow everybody to hear just what they were saying. Finally, as their breathing started to calm back to a normal rate, the Scarf straightened up and looked around at all those in the room, their eyes wide with fear.
"They're coming."

Avidity watches as the halfer slams in, the words coming from their mouth doesn't do anything to help the nerves that suddenly shot through their system. With a tremble they take Kenji's arm in their hands, eyes widening, "... Oh God."
- - -
[Dar]
Glancing to Namine I see an almost fearful glint to her eyes, but the smug smile counter acts this. I know the truth behind her freaking out and I refuse to let any harm come to her, wolves travel in packs for a reason. Where Neku is my Alpha, Namine is his mate, as a young warrior its my job to protect them both...
Standing and stretching I look to Neku, "Well, seems as if they've decided to take the first move... The question is fight or flight now..."
- - -
[Nami]
I don't move, what's the point? If we move we're screwed, if we stay we're beaten. I'd rather be beaten than murdered... Besides... the chance possibility of them wanting to talk things out are possible... Not likely, but possible...
With my hand on my stomach again my lips twist down into a frown.
All I know is no matter what the rest do... I'm going to survive this... all of this. If Neku chooses to fight, I will not... I will plan defenses if needed, but... I can't... Not yet... they need me...

Sora's gaze turned to the door where the Scarf came from, his eyes glowing red as the Rider slowly began to surface.
"Well." he said, black smoke starting to come from his collar. "I guess we should see what they want...your call from here Neku, we're dealing with potential heavy hitters who wanna preform Nazi-like genocide to Halfers and anyone else that doesn't fit in their little vision."
He turned to Neku, "If you need extra time to plan I could...go out there and talk to them, fight them if I need to, hold them off long enough for a plan to get in action."
Yet he paused, "But I really hope thats not the case because well, fighting these guys myself will be hard enough so I really hope you have a plan...or are open to suggestions."

I nodded. "Non-combat Otherborn get behind the podium. Haraken, can you put up one of your walls before they get here? Combat Otherborn get in front of the walls. I want to negotiate, but I'm not going ot take stupid chances."
The dark-haired boy nodded, and screens popped up all around his position, the subtle scent of the Otherworld leaking from the hardlight. He was typing furiously, probably making modifications to the program.
I saw the blind blonde girl with Midori, strangely familiar, tug on his sleeve and whisper something to him. My mental processes just caught the trail edge of a scared, but level-headed thought about getting him to help her to safety - she knew she couldn't fight well enough for this battle. She also wanted to say something to him, but I didn't know what it was.
I withdrew from her mind, spread my awareness through the others. Just surface thoughts, a buzzing awareness that, for now, I kept in the back of my brain. I'd only recently figured out I could do it, connect myself to everyone in the room, but I'd realized I could use it as a method of delivering orders and receiving reports in a heavy Crossing fight.
And linked like this, I'd be able to accurately take toll of who was wounded.
A chill went through me.
They were coming.
Every instinct was screaming it.
Something powerful was on its way...

The snarl the left Destani is anything, but human, but her brother crosses to her and places a hand on her shoulder. He gives her a gentle smile and points to where Sini leads his mom, Namine, and Jazz to where directed. A short exchange happens between mother and son before Sini's eyes flicker red and his hair darkens, a fanged smile given to his mother along with a thumbs up before reverting back to normal.
Midori nods to Lily, helping her to feet and gently leading her. He whispers back to her, "Ya think me and Sini should be part of the fighters... Or... want me to stay with you?"
Destani leads herself and her brother from the door before frowning, "You're not meant for closed space battles, I want you to keep your protective spells at the ready, Kohaku, go." Haku frowns, but nods, listening to her for she is the one he trusts enough to be his rider at the moment. So he joins the other group while Destani comes to a stop six inches behind Neku, a smirk passing her features. "You have my approval, in case they don't give it." And then falls back farther, not wishing to upset the Angels with their species being so closely knitted.

Shiki was about to go and join the fighters when she stopped. The awareness that something wasn't exactly right with her resurfaced. Maybe fighting wasn't such a good idea. As much as she didn't want to admit it, she wasn't sure she trusted herself to be on the battlefield. They were going against Angels, powerful beings that needed all of her attention.
Then again, it might help get the itch out of her system. She wanted to do something, but wasn't sure what. Her eyes flickered to Sora and Shiki then decided. If he was going to fight...well she wasn't the strongest person but she could defend herself. She could handle whatever was going on with her, ignoring it for now would be her best course of action. With her mind made up she joined the fighting group.

Lilly whispered to Midori, "Be careful, Dori. And.... remember. You're still Dori, whatever's happened. And I'll still be your friend, and with you." She smiled.
Haraken overheard that as the wall was thrown up, separating the combatants and non-combatants. It didn't match the other walls of Veil, but he hadn't had time to program it a disguise, really, only to stretch its dimensions so it formed a solid barrier between once side of the room and the other. Izzy nodded at him, putting away his own iPad, from which he'd been helping Haraken.
Rin watched the door, every hair on his tail seeming to stand on end. What was going ot happen next? Were these Angels after him? There was no point in hiding what he was. They probably were going to already know, so his tail, freed, swished nervously back and forth behind him. He debated turning and running.... but instead, he stood, walked over to the line of fighters, then nodded at Neku.
"I'll fight for you!" he said. "I don't really know all of you guys all that well, but, you guys took me in when the other guys didn't. I'm with you, 'Phones!"
I twitched at the hated nickname, but... well, we didn't have time for that now.
I stepped up tothe front and center of the line, and nodded.
"Thank you. Everyone. Get ready...."
