The two of them stepped out of the cold street and into the coffee shop, where they were greeted by the smells of caramel, chocolate, and ground coffee beans. They secured a table by the window and an order of coffee, for a moment it was sips of silence until Sora set down his cup and looked at her.
"Alright, so, now we can talk. You got an inside look at the mind of Sora Shimomura, what are you thinking? And I know you don't judge but I want honesty, good or bad just...lay it out okay?"

Shiki put her cup down, "What I honestly think?" She looked at him for a moment, "I think you're a nice guy that's just made mistakes and has a huge burden on his shoulders. One that he insists is his own and no one else should bother with him. Which, with all honesty, pisses me off."

Sora paused for a moment and nodded slowly, "Okay...I can...kinda see how you would be mad. I'm not used to being a team player, I've worked mostly alone. Never even met the Network till when I moved here."
He sipped his coffee and added in an afterthought, "I'm usually the background guy, kind of prefer that really."

"I guess I should tell you, once you meet me you're probably not going to be in the background much." She traced the rim of her cup, "Working with a team isn't that hard once you get used to it. It's a lot easier than going in on your own. You have to be willing to accept the help though."

"I'll take your word for it," he said, which reminded him. "Speaking of, what's the deal with the Ifrit thing? What's being done about it?"

"Right now we're trying to find him or an accomplice of his. I haven't heard anything yet, or found anything myself. Of course maybe we'd find something sooner if the Coordinators would step up and do their jobs...oh sorry." She realized she was starting to rant her own thoughts.

"Sorry?" he said, looking at her. "No need to be sorry, I like hearing you talk. Fills up the silence."

She laughed, "So you like hearing me go on and on about how they're cowards for not doing the jobs they offered to do? I can't believe that they did that though. They just sat back and waited for everyone else to do it for them. They asked to help, so do it."

He shrugged, "There could be reasons for them not wanting to be involved. They feel like it doesn't concern them, Social Psychology, they won't be involved until something motivates them to be involved."

She sighed, "Well they need to get motivated soon. Who knows what's coming our way. Ifrit doesn't sound like an easy opponent."

"He's not." Sora said, "In levels of Hell I'll...I'll say they're on a 1 to 10 scale, with a lesser demon being 1 and the Devil being 10. Technically Ifrit is a 4 on the scale, but he's a dangerous 4. Ghost Riders had stepped in and sealed him up once before."

"And he managed to escape. Yeah, this is bad. " She played with a piece of her hair, "Well...we still have to try. There's no way I'm backing down now." I hope we all get out of this alive.
Shiki remembered something, "Hey can I ask who you were talking to earlier? You don't have to tell me, I was just wondering."

Sora froze at the last statement, she apparently saw more than he thought she did. He waited a moment, looking from left to right. He took out a pen from his jacket and wrote a name down on his napkin, he slid it over to her where it read:
The Devil.

The Devil
Shiki read those words and paled. She saw the Devil? Crap, how bad of a conversation had she walked in on? Guilt fell onto her again. Oh and that brick she'd felt earlier, it became a brick wall.
"Oh." That was all she could think to say.

"Boss-man himself pays visits from time to time...I needed his authorization on how to handle this Ifrit situation." he said, sipping his coffee. "It's his kingdom he's supposed to be trapped in, his rules."
