Finally got a nice little place on main street for my business. After I finished moving in all of the furniture and placing it all where I want it to be, I finally settled down in the chair behind my desk. It's been a long day for sure. I grabbed a can of soda that I had put out for myself and opened it, knowing I full well deserved it.
Nothing like a cold drink after a hard day, no? I tried to plan out tomorrow for myself but well, my mind was on 'rest mode' apparently so I stopped trying. Finally, all I had to do was sit back, enjoy my soda and relax.

However, as it often was with Dante's unique brand of luck, a crossing quickly began to take place. The odd thing about this one was that the normal horde of demons didn't accompany it. The sounds of the Otherworld certainly poured through the mouth of the portal but nothing appeared. After long moments something finally did emerge. Vergil stumbled from the portal, beaten and bloody with his ever faithful blade named Yamato clutched tightly in his hand. He'd had to fight his way through many demons to get through and escape the Otherworld, something that clearly hadn't left him unscathed. With that the crossing quickly ended as the lead demon was killed among the confusion on the other side and things returned to normal. Vergil breathed quickly and deeply, looking around before his eyes finally settled on the identical pair of the man in front of him. Of all the places he could have popped up in, he had apparently arrived right in the middle of his brother's shop.

When the crossing began I jumped out of my chair and grabbed Rebellion. "Shit, of all the times and places, it has to be my store!" I grip the sword tightly, not about to show any mercy on the demons who I thought were going to come through. During the brief moments of nothingness though, I couldn't help but just sit there and get annoyed. If you're going to start a crossing, at least have the decency to show your face.
That was when my worse for wear brother decided to stumble through.
"Well, fancy meeting you here, Vergil." I was at a loss whether I should put the sword away or keep it out. Were we gonna fight like old times? Probably not considering he went to hell and back literally, and doesn't look like it was easy. Then again, knowing Vergil, he's always up for a good fight, always. I settled with placing the tip of the blade down into the floor. Not away but not 100% ready.

Judging from his brother's words Dante hadn't changed in the... That's when Vergil realized that he couldn't remember just how long he had spent in the otherworld. It had felt like years but there was no telling if time passed differently there than it did here. For all he knew it could have been mere months since he allowed himself to fall into the abyss. But the point was, Dante was still the brother he remembered from their last encounter. The half-devil's eyes fell upon Dante's still unsheathed sword, clearly ready for a fight. "Dante." Was all he said in greeting, keeping his voice level as he drew himself up to stand straight. His eyes narrowed slightly as a pain in his right side flared but he was careful to keep his expression neutral otherwise, even as the fingers clutching Yamato's handle twitched with the urge to clutch at his wound instead. He merely tightened his grip on Yamato even more.
He was fully aware that in this state he certainly would not win, barring some sort of miracle. However he also knew that things were not likely to go well between them, neither twin had gotten along well with the other since their father's death when they were still young children. As such, Vergil prepared himself to fight despite the odds.

"You don't seriously expect me to fight you when you're like that, do you?" Truthfully, I'd prefer not to. One, because I'd get blood through my store and probably end up destroying the furniture, I really don't want that. Two, because if I was going to fight with him, I'd prefer it to be a fair fight, where both of us have an equal chance of winning. I'm not cruel.
I placed my sword off at the side and went off into the bathroom. I picked up the gauze bandages and went back out to face my dear old brother. "You might need this." I held up the gauze and tossed the roll to him.

Vergil didn't answer his brother's question. While it would indeed have been out of character for Dante to fight him while he was in this state, one could never be too careful. It was a harsh lesson often learned in the Otherworld. He relaxed slightly as Dante put his sword off to the side but still held himself rigidly, wanting to maintain some form of dignity around his younger brother. While Dante ventured off to the washroom Vergil returned Yamato to its scabbard, the blade sliding easily into the sheathe. Vergil looked up just in time for Dante to return and toss a roll of gauze at him, the elder twin quickly catching the bandages in one hand.
Vergil glanced from the bandages to his brother and allowed himself to give a nod of thanks. He set Yamato against a nearby wall before removing his torn coat, the wounds more readily apparent now.

I watched as the crossing finished itself up and dissolve itself. "And here I was all worried that I'd have to fight a big nasty demon in here." I went back to Rebellion and put it in it's case. "I'm sure you aren't going to but don't worry about bloodying up the floor, it's going to get that way eventually, you might as well contribute."
I looked my brother up and down, looking at all the wounds, as my brother began to bandage himself up. "If you need anything, I'll be in the kitchen." I walked into the kitchen area and grabbed an apple. Honestly wasn't expecting to see Vergil of all people today, or anyone since I haven't really told people about it. At best it'd be the mover about me not paying him yet. I took a sigh and a bite of my apple.

Vergil glanced towards Dante as he spoke, the elder half-devil bandaging the more serious wounds, the worst one being on his right side which he had been forced to remove his vest in order to bandage it. He hastily did so and put on the vest once more, redoing the clasps at the front before donning his blue trench coat as well. He had to admit that he wasn't quite sure what so say, not that he was the talkative type to begin with. No, that was more Dante's forté. But still, after what happened at Temen-ni-gru... Vergil growled and shook his head, putting it out of his mind. First things first, now that he was back in the human world there were a number of things he would have to do. The first being to find a source of income as well as a place to live.

"So I take it you decided Hell wasn't to your liking? Mundus not so willing to back down to you?" I'm going to pay for that later but he deserved it. I mean c'mon, he wasn't able to beat me and he thought he could take Mundus on? Pfft, no way that was going to happen.
"Where you planning on heading out to? Obviously you're not planning on sticking around here, you can't stand me!" I called out of the kitchen. "Don't know why, Jester was way more annoying. Don't know how you could stand him, jester form or not. That guy was creepy to!"

Vergil gave Dante a rather pointed and frosty glare, one that simply said 'I am in no mood for your bullshit'. It was a look that many an elder sibling perfected, especially when you were the elder sibling of Dante. Vergil turned back to the roll of bandages, neatly rolling up what hadn't been used before Dante started on a little tirade over Arkham/Jester. "He was a means to an end, a tool." He replied simply. Yes, Arkham had indeed been meant simply to help him get Force Edge and obtain his father's powers. But unfortunately things didn't go as planned, as Dante knew very well.

"Interesting place you have here," said a slick voice as a black-haired young man oozed through the door of the yet-unnamed store. He didn't seem to have a care that there was a sibling conflict going on, or even that Vergil existed at all. He kicked up some dust as he scuffed his feet in an odd walk, scuffing on the way up, then planting his foot firmly on the floor.
Scuff-thunk. Scuff-thunk.
His hands were planted in his pockets, a smirk firmly embedded on his face.
Scuff-thunk. Scuff-thunk.
"I like the decor."

Customer? Already? Wow, this town is in worse shape then I though. "Hang tight Verg." I left the kitchen and went to my desk. "Sorry, not open yet. Come back in a few days. Bathroom in the back if you need it though." I think I should get one of those open signs... One of the blinkie ones. Another thing to add onto my 'Needed for store' list.

He laughed. "Oh, no, no, you misunderstand!" He pulled his hands out of his pockets, holding them palms-out in front of him. "I'm not a customer...." He stepped in a little more, then spun, outstretching this arm.
"Yes, Dante, this really is a lovely place you have~! And I..." He came to a rest in a half-bow. "...can help you with your job."

Vergil's attention was drawn to the door as he heard it open, immediately spotting the person but didn't bother giving a greeting. He couldn't place it but there seemed to be something more to this person, something that almost set his demon blood on edge though he couldn't say that it was from any sense of threat. As such he went over to where he had placed Yamato, picking up the blade that was still within his scabbard and walking to where he knew Dante likely placed the materials for maintaining his weapons. You didn't grow up with someone without learning some of their habits and mannerisms. The arrival's apparent knowledge of his brother's name didn't help with his suspicion. Normally he would have reasoned that his brother had met him during Vergil's two years in hell, but the fact that the arrival had made a proposal regarding Dante's shop made it clear that this wasn't the case.

Oh no, not another Jester like person. Having one in the world was bad enough but two? The only thing he was missing was the costume set up and the large nose. I took a deep breath and tried to remind myself that this guy isn't him. "Am I just that well known? How do you know my name?" He made me on edge. I ran my fingers through my hair and tried to figure him out.
"How'd you be able to help me? You kinda look on the weak side."
