Hey all. Neku here.
I've been looking at how we keep our records around here - namely, the Character List thread - and something's come to my attention. We keep track of demons based on alignment - good, evil, or neutral - but we didn't seem to take into account that Otherborn and Halfers are just as susceptible to falling down the wrong path. Yeah, Angel, we're looking at you. ...jerk....
ANYWAY.
I was thinking that we oughtta implement an alignment system - keep track of characters' alignments on the Character List so everyone knows who to stay away from and such. It'll also help characters keep track of how their actions are viewed by other characters, and how their deeds affect the Network's perception of them.
However, I need your opinions on how to go about it all. Good/Evil/Neutral works decently well for most people - but think about it. There's a reason there are question marks after Izaya's name. Some people just don't fit into that.
There's a few decent alignment systems out there. The most well-known is, of course, the D&D model - four poles, Law, Good, Chaos, and Evil, with characters identified based on which poles they gravitate toward - but there are others. I believe the D20 system uses a similar model, but with each character choosing three concepts that they align themselves with. I like that model the best, but I think the simplification of the D&D model is what we're looking for for this forum.
What do you think? Do you have a model we could use? Got any ideas for neat ways to implement it?
Let me know.
