She can also twist demon curses, though she prefers not to because they twist nature, causing smut (black, a karma for twisting nature) on her aura just like black magic would.
Background: Rachel Morgan was one of many in her world born a witch. However, she was also one of the small percentage born with a defect in her 2nd X chromosome. Her father, desperate to keep her alive, pleaded to his friend to save her. Years later, she discovers that she is more powerful than the general witch with ley line magic. More than that, her blood can activate demon curses.
Due to her (reluctant) experiences with demons, she learns that her father's friend's tinkering fixed what had been broken millenia ago in demonic genetics, making her into a demoness.
This is a closely guarded secret, and she works as an independent runner. Very few know she is a witch and almost no one knows she is a demon.
Due to her ties with demons, Rachel is aware of the OtherWorld (and has been dragged there on a few occasions) but wants nothing to do with demons. Her loyalties are mainly to her friends, though she doesn't exactly WANT the demons to escape and ruin the Earth. Most days.
