Oilcan aka Orville Wilbur Wright
(Based on Oilcan from the book "Tinker" by Wen Spencer)
Human with a touch of the "Sight" - that 6th sense that runs in some bloodlines. He can sense the "Other" but has no powers. He fights "demons" (usually the weak ones) using a silver studded chain, or outruns them on his motorcycle (and occasionally runs them down with his tow-truck). He and his half-sister run a salvage yard, race motorcycles, and he "officially" has 6 patents for motorcycle parts, and 2 more for improvements to heavy equipment. Likes to make Mechanical Art. Has only been in Urbadelphia for a few months. He is 23 years old, slender of build, with red hair and green eyes. He is stronger than he looks, but not unnaturally so. He has a runners build, and an endurance runners strength and stamina. He likes to build, race, ride and trick-out motorcycles and trikes.
Mercedes Alexander Graham Bell Thompson aka Mercy aka Tinker
(Based on a combination of characters: Mercedes Thompson from the "Mooncalled" novels by Patricia Briggs and "Tinker" from the Wen Spencer book)
Mercy mother had a fling with a sports rider of American Indian heritage. The Biker left, and mom found out she was pregnant with his child and was unable to find him. When Mercy was 3 months old, mom came in to the room to find a "dog" in the crib instead of the child. When the child changed - Mom freaked. She became a member of a Fundy church who decided that Mercy would be their secret weopon against the evil that was invading through the veil. Unfortunately for them, Oilcan realized they never intended Mercy to survive the experience and helped her run away when she was 14. She and Oilcan have been on the move for several years. Mercy/Tinker IS a mechanical genius, and Oilcan has been filing "patents" for his kid sister to get money. They finally have enough to settle down and have moved into Urbadelphia, bought a scrap yard and trying to start a new life. Mercy is a shapeshifter - she turns into a large, strong wolf/dog-like creature when terribly stressed, although she can sometimes shift on purpose. As time goes on she is getting better and better control. She has better than normal sight, hearing, and smell in human form, and unnatural speed, agility, and even more heightened senses in Animal form. She is NOT a werewolf, she does not need the moon to shift. She does retain her intelligence, but she is not able to communicate in Animal form. She has no idea what she is and doesn't really care. She is what she is, take her or leave her - that is her attitude. Mercy is 17 years old, rangy like her brother, but with the American Indian features, black hair and gold eyes in human form. In animal form, she has the coloring of a Malamute, except with yellow eyes, but is much larger, with the mane and tail of a hyena.
