--Undisclosed Desires--
Twitch, twitch.
His ears flick around as he lays their, I know he's awake, he never lets me take watch by myself. And until our other partner shows back up he won't be getting much sleep at all.
Too bad he can't be like the Dolphins in my book. Then half of his brain could sleep and other other half could be awak to watch over me.
Although I'm ten years old now, I shouldn't even need a babysitter anymore.
But there he is.
Ever faithful, ever protective.
His arms and hands curled up under him like paws. His long tail lazily moving as his feet move around. He's uncomfortable on this concrete ground. I understand the feeling.
I wish I could be sleeping in my nice, fluffy bed.
If only I had that bed to go home to... If only I had a home to go home to...
I hear foot steps sloshing in the rain and smile.
He's back.
Wet arms are thrown around me and we cuddle together for warmth. With him the world melts away and I can face everything... Including being an orphan like he is, like our protect is.
Now that we're all together, one ten year old, one eight year old, and one olderteen we can relax. Our cat like protector moves over towards us, laying so we can sap warmth from him. And we do lay on him.
The rain just out side of the overhang can't seep in, we're on an up hill and its on the bottom.
Tonight we can sleep.
The little one had gone out to the bathroom while I had been alseep ealier and now his soaked body is shivering in my arms. My fingers run through his hair soothingly and soon his shivering mass is fast asleep.
I smile.
And then look to our protector and see that exhaustion has claimed him as well. Good. It wasn't nessecary for them to be up...
I can sense the demons inside us all sleeping soundly. Or at least thats how our protector put it. And so I am not just gaurding us from the world...
But the world from us.
Tonight we rest.
Tonight we get to be human.
In the morning we'll be running again...
... And until the day we die.
