I chuckle and nod in response. "True... But most monsters have no purpose. Most monsters rely on instinct more than thought, or power..." I begin pacing across the rooftop, my gaze not once leaving him. So... Peculiar, this boy. He can defend himself well, no argument here. But he doesn't know about me, about Project G, about my body... But at my rate of progress, it wouldn't matter. I'm not too long for this world, I knew that. "Tell me... Why do you try to sway me from the idea of being a monster? What's in it for you?"

He paused, stopped to think about it for a moment.
"A whim," he said at last. "Or perhaps, a hunch. A fleeting fancy, or maybe even a need to simply debate that which people take for granted as fact." He crossed his arms, smiling enigmatically. "Maybe I'm simply annoying you for my own amusement... but I find it difficult to let statements such as the one you made go..."

I raise an eyebrow at the boy. Then I smile, and chuckle. "You truely are something else, boy..." I kind of liked it. It was interesting, I'll give him that. "Your motives are unclear, even to you. Yet it could be believed that this whole conversation was entirely premeditated... I guess what I'm saying is that you intrigue me... "My friend, the fates are cruel There are no dreams, no honor remains The arrow has left the bow of the goddess" I recited with some feeling. "What I'm telling you is that there is nothing left for me. I am the arrow. I cannot stop going until I hit my mark... Your words are strong, but phase me none..." I reply quietly. My gaze falls, my voice sombering.

In his eyes was, for a split second, revealed a fragment of something deep and ageless.
"Interesting that you should say that... at any other time, it might even be true," he murmured to himself in response to the red-haired man's first comment; at the second, he simply shrugged.
"So you ride to your fate, then?" he asked, sounding curious.

I nod. "More or less, I suppose. I'm not riding my fate exactly. Moreso, I am guided by the Goddess. Her will is mine..." I expand on the statement. She is the one who has guided me now. I have to only earn her gift. To be healed. To.. become human again.
((CJ says hello. And he will, no matter what [he pinky-promised me] have Ginta up by tonight ))

((Hi CJ! And he'd better!))
"The Goddess?" Joshua asked, curiosity beginning to get the better of him. "What is the Goddess?"

I laugh nervously. "I'm... honestly not too sure, myself... But she is a healer, I know this. And that is why I seek her. I need her gift..." I reply, answering his question as simply as possible.

"Before your body completely falls apart?" he asked quietly, regarding the red-coated man with some form of sympathy.

I raise an eyebrow at the boy. "Then you can see it? It is crumbling... Decaying. And far faster than I'd hoped." I sigh. "But what can I do? Only seek Her gift." I sigh and gaze over the boy. Something was definitely off. More smart than I was giving him credit for...

"Where do you think you will find this 'Goddess'?" he asked, seating himself on the raised edge of the roof, his back to the wind, still facing the red-coated man.

I smirked at the boy. "Who knows...?" I pull out LOVELESS once more. "When the war of the beasts brings about the world's end The goddess descends from the sky Wings of light and dark spread afar She guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting" "That's what I have to go on. The war of the beasts..."

He thought for a moment. The poetry was beginning to seem familiar, but he shrugged.
"Perhaps, you're searching too hard?" he suggested.

I begin laughing and shake my head at the boy. "Far from it, boy. I don't honestly believe I'm looking hard enough... Honestly, I just don't want to die out before I find it... I need my body restored. How can one look too hard for restoration?"

"How can one look too hard for restoration?"
Joshua closed his eyes as memories returned to him, far too many, and far too painfully. The Games he had seen, the Game he had played, and won.... too many memories and all of them painful in their own way.
He looked straight up into Genesis' eyes, the echoes of that old pain still visible.
"When you search so hard that the search itself destroys the reason you wish to be restored," he replied quietly. "What good is existing when you can no longer live?"

I stop laughing for a moment. And nod. "That is a good point... But I don't have the time to live. I must merely exist, until I can live. My purpose is to get to that point. To cleanse this curse..."
