The two halves of the same tortured soul sit back to back.
"Make me feel better."
Silently the first shakes their head, unable to heal even their wounds, why would they be able to save the youths.
"You promised me power."
"And you promised me freedom."
They sit in a darker silence than before. Once again the younger brakes it.
"I'm scared of myself."
"You're not the only one."
"You have the power to stop it."
"No, only you can save you."
They keep their backs touching, warmth seeping into each other, but at the same time their bodies are shivering.
Where are they?
They know where they are, their spirits have traveled this far many times before. One in the same, yet never allowed to look at one another. Never allowed to comfort the other with an embrace, its sick, its cruel.
"That's life," Their voices echo in their hollowest forms, lost somewhere in the distance.
"How is your girlfriend?"
"Safe... Your family?"
"Battered, a little uneasy, but safe... How are you?"
"Tired of living, you?"
"...I'll keep trying for both our sakes."
Both fall into an emotionally chocked silence, only to have it broken by the elder this time.
"You... Don't... Have to... I can keep pushing forward... For us both," The two shiver and shudder, knowing how much of an effort, of a stain of the two of them that would cause. "I can keep fighting until we meet again, give you a brake."
A small, sad smile is on the younger's lips, "We both know how that would go... Don't fool ourselves."
"I'm not fooling us am I?"
"Never, besides... Its about time you found a new charge, correct? Our deal is almost up."
"Yes, yes it is... But when it is--"
"I know what it entitles, as much as I hate to admit it, you did give me power... You have given me strength... Its time to return it to the source."
"I won't kill you, I can't."
"Don't try to fool us... Me."
"I'm not, I can't..."
"........................ See you when the reaping comes.................."
The younger's presence is no more and the older weeps to them self as the world becomes cold, but bright.
"........................ as you wish, my child......................"
