"Big brother! Big brother!" A dark haired, blue eyed two year old girl comes rushing over to the now seventeen year old Sininen, his own blue eyes glowing with happiness. The brother had just got home from high school.
"Rosita!" Sini picks up the little girl and spins her around and around a few times before they both drop down. The boy on his butt and the girl safe in his arms. "How's my favorite little sister?"
The girl giggles and shakes her head before giggling more, "I your only sis, Sini!"
The blue haired male just smiles to her and tickles her mercilessly, "That you are my beautiful little Rose!" The girl screams with peals of laughter and then the sound of heavy footsteps can be heard and in walks Aqua, the two's mother, heavy with her fourth child.
"Mama," Both her kids calls and Sini stands while setting his sister down. Their mother is smiling at them happier than she's been in a while, although Sini can tell she's searching for someone... Someone who hasn't been home in a while now.
"Sininen, Rose, be careful now," She waves her hand to the mirror by the entrance, she always reminds them of the same thing, everyday after school.
"We know, Mama," says the little girl as she watches her brother go over to his mother and gently take her hand and around the waist. Carefully he leads her back to the living room where she had been settled, watching her daughter before.
Sini continues for his sister, "But you should be sitting down, doctors orders! You're too far along right now to be straining yourself!" He then sets her down in her rocking chair and sets her knitting stuff back in her hands and untangles the yarn while giving her a serious expression. "Every day for the past month I have to tell you that, yet you still don't listen!"
"I need to feed Rose," Is Aqua's usual first response and Sini sticks her with a hard glare.
"*Dad and I already said we'd take turns coming home to make Rosita something, Mother," His tone calm, but firm, the same one his mother used to stick on Midori when he used to do something wrong. "Let me and him handle it, alright? Now I gotta start dinner..." He turns and holds his hand out for his sister to take. She does with a smile and waves to her Mother as they go into the kitchen.
Aqua sighs, knowing he just purposely cut off the rest of her argument and she turns her attention back to the door. Her gaze sad and almost empty. But with Sininen and Rose just in the other room she has to keep up her happy smile and her upbeat attitude. Besides, one thing she noted with happiness was that Shiki and Namine were due to come over soon, they would be great additions to the dinner tonight.
"Oh," Aqua laughs to herself before calling to Sini to make extra for guests and.... maybe enough for five extra people.. "I invited Shiki and Namine over for dinner." She adds as an after thought.
Sini chuckles in the kitchen and goes about preparing the meal. He had leaned quickly to fend for himself when his mother had been pregnant with Rose, learning that he preferred cooking to the silence the house got when it was just him and his mother. Now they have Rose and NOTHING is quiet anymore. Sometimes, like late at night sometimes, he wishes he could go back to before that phone call he received while at school. The news his mother was in labor and all that flashy jazz. But most of the time he's glad to be an older sibling.
Growing up had been the hardest part for him. But he learned quick and now he's able to not only distract Rose with some pots and a wooden spoon, he can also make dinner with out ever once spilling anything or tripping over her mess or nothing. He also found out he's very good with kids, heck, he loves them even with all their troubles.
But sometimes he just wishes that... That... "Midori was here." He sighs to himself. Him and his brother are twins, fraternal, but close as can be. So when Dori told him he was running away after swearing him to secrecy he couldn't tell... Nor could he stop him... And he now hates how much its hurt his mother, how much its hurt him, to see his brother gone. He misses the normally calm and collected and silent boulder he used to have, sure he'd get knocked on the head a few times for crying, but at least he could do it with out worrying his sibling. Now... Now he's the strong one. The one whom picks up the pieces, the one who acts as the glue.
He hears the door open and then smiles, "Rosita, I bet daddy's home... Go ask mommy." The little girl races out and Sini is left alone, over the sink, washing vegetables, and now able to cry in peace. He can now hear its Shiki, arriving early. And his will to hold onto himself brakes as he just brakes into silent sobs at the sink. Hoping no one would see him...
Knowing mom has it worse...
Knowing that they both have to put on fake smiles and pretend everything is perfect when it isn't.
He just hopes that this time the person he's worrying over is actually missing and not... Not... "Don't you be dead on me, Dori, don't you dare." His voice is small and he just wipes his tears away and straightens himself out in the windows reflection. He can see Shiki noticed him, but had, for her own reasons, decided to not come and check on him.
Once he's got his game face back he finishes the veggies and hums a tune. And soon the house has gone back to its normal cheerfulness...
