Hello. My name is Minato Namikaze, and truth be told I’m pretty new to Urbadelphia… But I’m here on official Joto Section business so I guess I don’t really have time to be worrying about the intricacies of being the ‘new guy’. I suppose you’ll all want to know some details, am I correct? Well, we may as well start with the physical stuff… I stand at precisely 179.2cm tall, which equates to about 5.8ft. I weigh in at 145lbs. The reason I’m so precise in my measurements is simply that Joto Section makes a habit of putting us through this sort of thing on a regular basis, it likes its lists, our height and weight just happens to be one of those lists. Another little fact that Joto has written down somewhere is my age, which is 28. Either way, I have yellow/blonde hair which is rather long, and rather spiked if I do say so myself, that’s probably my most notable feature, that and my eyes. They’re a pale blue, and considering that I have rather pale skin, well, they’re obviously pretty noticeable.
Clothing… Well… This is an easy one! I only really have the one outfit to be honest… The under layer is a pair of blue combat pants, a matching jumper, some bandages wrapped around my legs (to stop the material of my combats flapping against my ankles, which is a rather large annoyance) and then a pair of sandals. On top of the jumper I normally wear an olive green flak jacket which has a fair few pockets on it, making it generally easier to carry the day to day items that I need. On top of my right leg I’ve attached a small holster which carries a couple of pretty special knives of mine, but I’ll talk about those properly in a moment! On my forehead I wear a blue cloth headband which has a metal plate on it, the symbol for my hometown (a hidden village called Konhagakure) is engraved upon the plate. Finally, on top of all of that I wear a long, white, short sleeved coat which has a red flame design around the bottom.
That’s about it for my physical appearance! I guess I should sort of tell you what I’m capable of next. For a start it’s worth saying that I’m an Otherborn and my ability is well… Unique. I can manipulate two different types of energy, Yin Release, which is dark energy, and Yang Release, which is light energy. By using the two together to create the Yin-Yang Release, I can form a number of different techniques based on the elements. In theory, with training, I’d be able to use techniques based on Fire, Water, Earth and Air, as well as sub elements such as Lightning. The only issue I have with learning these things is that they require a number of hand-seals which are pretty time consuming and can give an enemy the opportunity to attack. So mainly I rely on three attacks, the first is simply ‘Taijutsu’ which is the physical use of ones body to attack using punches and kicks and other somewhat more un-orthodox manoeuvres to force your opponent on the defensive and eventually defeat them. When you’ve trained as long as I have, which is well over 20 years, simply hand-to-hand combat becomes a very effective method of taking down opponents. Now, obviously sometimes I need to turn up the heat a little bit, and that’s when I turn up the heat a little bit! Firstly, a little bit about my history before I explain my second technique. In some of my younger years, before I joined Joto, I liked to travel a lot, and one day I found myself in a village in the middle of the desert. Here there lived a young boy called Gaara who had a demon housed within him, conveniently on the day I was there, this demon broke free and started rampaging, from what I gather, Gaara killed his own father on that day. Either way, I saw this demon draw in large amounts of raw energy, similar to the manner I use Yin-Yang release, shape it into a spherical form and then release it in a hugely damaging blast. I named this the ‘Demon Beast Ball’ and set down to studying it.
I found that I could call forth Yin-Yang energy into my palm, but it had no raw force behind it like the Demon Beast Ball did, so I thought back to the day, looking at how Gaara’s energy had twisted and turned before he launched it and that’s when the idea hit me. Summoning up energy I turned it back on itself repeatedly and constantly, forming not only the spherical shape, but replicating the torrent-like rotation of the Demon Beast Ball, I then found that the rotation effectively gave the attack the force of a hurricane, as well as burning whatever surface it touched. With further study I managed to change and shape it in different ways, by channelling more energy I could make it larger, with time at hand I could channel natural energy into the attack, making flame, water, wind and earth based renditions of the attack. I named it the ‘Rasengan’ and it would later become one of my stronger techniques.
Now then, that leaves me with one final technique to explain! And that’s summoning, or should I say, reverse-summoning. I found that by channelling Yin-Yang energy onto a certain object, I could effectively place a seal upon it, then, by channelling a similar energy through my own body, I could reverse-summon myself to the location of any of the seals I had placed down. Now, remember those knives I showed you earlier? Each one of them has my unique seal placed upon them, so when I throw them in combat, I can instantly teleport to its location with minimal effort. I’ve also learned to place these seals upon people I know and care for, and important places, allowing me to transport to anywhere I may need to be in the blink of an eye. If someone doesn’t fancy having my seal effectively branded onto them for life, I can simply give them one of my knives! Simple!
So that’s my combat capabilities as well. Now, suppose I should tell you what sort of person I am, right? Well, for a start I’m a pretty smart guy, I’m a good strategist and I have a knack for combat analysis. So when someone uses a technique or attack, I can swiftly figure out how it works and what mechanics it uses, I can maintain my composure and swiftly come up with a plan of action. I don’t really like talking about peoples past without their own admission, a mans troubles should be his own if you ask me, if someone doesn’t want to share them, well, they shouldn’t have to! Other than that, I’m an all around nice guy to be honest!
I guess you want to know about my past now, huh? Well, we’ll start at the beginning! I started training at the Konohagakure academy when I was young, the school teaches up basic combat techniques and tactics and then leaves you to develop your own specialties. Turns out my specialties proved pretty good at handling infiltration and espionage, so I researched into the field more, that’s when I discovered about the sealing techniques as well as reverse-summoning. I found that reverse-summoning left a small crackle of electricity as being my only evidence of ever being there, and the light residue from where my bright yellow hair had been a moment before, so I earned the nickname of the ‘Yellow Flash’ before long. On top of that, people started calling the technique the ‘Flying Thunder God Technique’.
My reputation spread, and after a few years, most people who were risking going up against me were simply told to run away if they ever came into combat against me, which just sort of goes to prove how tough I am. Skip forward a few years and Joto Section gets in touch saying they need someone of my prowess, and then explain just what it is that they do. I hadn’t faced many demons in the past, but I’d seen what they were capable of, and I jumped at the opportunity to really help the world in one way or another.
So now here I am, I’ve been faithfully serving Joto for a good few years now, and they’ve asked my to head to Urbadelphia to help General Kyoshiro Ayanokoji who needs help infiltrating some sort of base, they seem to think that I’m the best guy for it. Can’t say I blame them! Anyways, maybe I’ll see you around!
