Howdy guys!
Story time~!
Now, I didn't originally have this planned for Minato... But well, I THOUGHT OF IT AND IT WAS AN AWESOME IDEA SO HERE IT IS.
~
Big blue eyes. Blonde hair.. He looked a lot like me in a sense, or rather, he looked like my brother whom I also looked like. Then we both took after our father. My brother... He was with father now and I had to look at that as a positive, as his godfather this little kid belonged to me now... But I was only ten, I wasn't ready to look after a child! I'd only just graduated from the academy a year ago and the trickle of jobs I got were small. No... I'd have to send him away, even if only for eight years, until I could care for him like a true uncle, like a true godfather. I didn't want him growing up here anyway, he'd be forced into the same life as me and that was something I didn't want for my godson. But for now I could savour this moment, enjoy my time with my nephew... And mourn my brother as well... What a burden he'd left me with. But looking down into those blue eyes I found myself smiling, it was a burden that I would be able to bear in the future.
A small hand reached up and grasped onto my finger and a small gurgle of delight at his ability to grab hold of me burst from his lips. God, he looked just like my brother, I felt the distant moistness of tears well up in the corner of my eyes as I ran my finger gently down the side of his head as his eyes closed, his grip on my finger slackening. It had been a long fight to bring him into the world, it's no surprise the young one was tired. Cradling him in both my arms, I bobbed him up and down gently. "Shh, shh, shh..." I whispered as I started to hum an old lullaby that I knew. The baby gurgled once more before nestling it's face into the blankets an dozing off to sleep.
A little old lady took the seat next to me and smiled, it was evidently clear that I was too young for the child to be mine. "Your brother?" She asked as the creases of her face leaned in close to soak up the babies features, I shook my head.
"Nephew..." I whispered. "And my godson..."
"Ahh..." The old lady said with a firm nod before motioning to the pair of us, me and my nephew. "You hold him properly.. Like he was your own son!" She chuckled, her merry mood washing off on me slightly, but then realisation dawned on me and my face dropped.
"Well..." I said, as the old lady looked in my direction. "He is my son now... I guess..." The tears that had dampened my eyes earlier finally ran their course down my cheeks as my body convulsed in a sob. The bundle I held shifted as one tear dropped onto his tiny little face. The old lady suddenly wrapped an understanding arm around my shoulder.
"Shh, shh, shh..." She comforted me as I had my nephew but a few moments earlier, I was thankful that I needn't explain anything. She tutted as she looked at me "You're going to wake him if you keep shaking and crying on him like that... Here give him here..." She reached out but I pulled away, standing up, thankfully not waking the small baby.
"No..." I said, shaking my head, cheeks moist with tears. "No... He's all I have left now..." The old lady frowned, not in an angry or pitying manner, but simply in a way that said she understood. The little baby gurgled and I turned my back, lowering my face to his and whispering words of comfort. As he settled back down, I heard the voice of the old woman speak.
"I understand your pain, young Namikaze." My eyes widened, how did she know my name?! Wheeling around to face her I was shocked to find just who I was staring at.
"Elder Qiao!" I exclaimed, bowing deeply. "I apologise for my rudeness, I-" She silenced me with a wave of her hand.
"I heard what had happened... I thought it best to come see if you were okay..." I sniffled and looked her in the eye.
"I can't do it, Elder Qiao... I'm too young..." She nodded in agreement. "I think I just need to do what I think is best and... Well... Give him a home where he'll be safe..." Once more, the Elder nodded.
"I know a family, just outside of a city called Urbadelphia... You do know what the boy is... Yes?" It was my turn to nod, she continued. "Me and the Hokage agree that in that city, he will eventually find out who he is... Who his siblings are... And who his godfather is." I was crying again, but I wasn't racked by sobs like I had been before, I understood that it was for the best.
"C-could I see him?" Elder Qiao frowned and shook her head.
"It would be too dangerous... Demons will flock to him, hoping to unlock the power hidden within him. To keep him safe you would need to let him grow up... You would need to wait until he is old enough to understand what he is." I nodded glumly, before looking down at the little bundle that I held so securely, I knew that the Elder would want to move the baby as swiftly as possible, I knew I would not see him for ten years at least. Leaning down I kissed his forehead before looking up, to see Elder Qiao before me, offering her arms out for the baby. I reluctantly hande him over, and she smiled, but before she left she asked me one question.
"I will let you give him a name, young Minato. But it cannot be that of your clan." I nodded solemnly before speaking up.
"Roxas." I said, deciding it was a name far from that common in the village.
"Call him Roxas."
