Twins? In a place like this? [Closed]

[Sophie Newman]

Sophie, along with her brother, Josh, casually stroll down the Main Street, looking at all the people and shops; trying their best to look like they fit in.
"You do hope that we don't run into any trouble whilest we're here, right, Josh? — Because I hope we don't. I really wish we could've lived normal lives, instead of going for that stroll in the forest. It really gets to me how our lives could have been better if we hadn't..."

[Josh and Sophie]

Josh looks at an awkward-looking shop that seens to be selling exotic merchandise, as he speaks, "But look where we are now. We wouldn't be here right now if we wouldn't have done what we did." He sighs and looks at Sophie, "We wouldn't be trying to live somewhere else, looking for something new. At least trying to live new lives, away from our 'normal home'. We probably would have never left our hometown and found this place without having to run from everything."
He looks at some more of the shops..

[Sophie Newman]

Sophies sighs this time, "I suppose you're right. I should look at the bright side of this, and try to forget the past. This is our new life."
She turns to look in the direction Josh is currently looking in. A bazaar tattoo stand sits upon her gaze. "I was never a big fan of tattoos."
Josh looks at her, expressing an agreeing face; before turning his head back at the stand.

[Josh and Sophie]

Many people passing by look awkwardly at the twins. Most continue walking, seeming to disregard that they just saw a pair of twins walk past them. Others turn around to double-check their beliefs. One gentleman makes a phone call, and Josh feels as if it's not his mother he's calling.
"I'm feeling a little awkward. It seems twins don't walk this street on a normal basis, like most cities. But here it looks as if nobody's ever seen a set of twins around these parts before."

[Sophie Newman]

"I know what you mean. It does feel a little weird. More people are looking at us than there normally would be in a bigger city."
Sophie looks at one young girl, who looks like she's wearing way more makeup than she should, and smiles. The girl doesn't smile back.
"That was quite rude. Not even a twitch of the muscle. She just kept walking."

[Josh and Sophie]

"Let's not let it get us down... Maybe they just don't know how to react, is all..."
Josh gives a slight nod to a passing gentleman. He continues walking, too.
"Hopefully that's the case..."
He sighs.

[Sophie Newman]

Sophie stops, and Josh follows suit. "Stay here for a minute..."
She walks over to a small stand selling necklaces of not-very-ordinary designs. There's an old lady manning the stand. She looks as if she's lived here forever.
"Excuse me?"
"Yes," the old lady replies.
"Do you accept US Dollars here?" Sophie gives a sorrowful smile.
"I'm sorry. I've never heard of such a currency..." The old lady gives a puzzled look.
"Oh. Okay... Sorry to bother you."
"What about that nice young lad over there. Does he have any money for the necklace you'd like?" She motions toward Josh, who was paying attention to a stand selling sports merchandise.
Sophie hesitates for a moment, before responding, "No, I'm holding all of our money."
That's weird, Sophie thought, I didn't tell her which necklace I wanted.
"Well, I'm deeply sorry. Maybe another time then? I'll hold on to it for you, okay?" Without hesitation, the lady takes the necklace Sophie actually wanted, and puts it in a drawer in a desk behind the stand. She turns back around, gives a semi-toothless smile, and turns to the gentleman casually waiting to Sophie's right.

Sophie walks back to Josh. "That was odd," she says to him. He was still looking at the sports stand, but turns around to look at Sophie.
"That lady said she'd never heard of US Dollars. And then she looked at you, and asked if you had any money for the necklace I wanted. I didn't even tell her I wanted one, let alone which one. I said I had your money, too; and she took the necklace and put it in a drawer and said she'd hold on to it for me." Sophie gave a confused look. Josh, the same.
"I don't get it, but maybe we should call it a day and head to the house. What do you think?"

[Josh and Sophie]

"Yeah. Pretty odd, I guess... Maybe we should head home. A lot of people seem to be getting a little uncomfortable, and I'm one of them..."


Sophie looks back at the seemingly nice old lady, only to find that she's looking at her as well.
They head home, hoping to browse some more shops tomorrow, and then train a little.
