Hey there, Neku here. Second in the series of plot-related bulletins posted, this is a note on how characters created for a plot are handled.
Because plots mean coming into contact with outside groups, villains or otherwise, the current character limit just won't cut it - there aren't really any accounts a plot character could be added to (unless that character happened to be related to/hunting/obessed with an existing character) and if they were limited by the three-account limit, we'd have nobody who could make plot chraracters at all - and that's not good.
Therefore, some new rules are coming into effect (sorry for all these patches, guys - we should've left the game in beta until we figured allll this out. Oops!).
THere is one important thing to remember before I continue, though:
Like plot arcs themselves, applications for plot characters will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Registration for plot characters should start by private-messaging the person running the arc and asking for permission to do so, always. They can give you a list of roles they need filled, or ideas for what part you can play if they don't have anything specific. If I'm not the person running it, do not ask me.
After that, once things are ironed out with the plot creator, then you come to me. (If I"m the creator - we can skip this step, or, rather, this step is combined with the previous one). Since you've already got things settled with the creator, I'm likely to say yes, you can have one. However, this will be affected by a couple factors.
First. Do you expect this character to stick around after the plot? If so, I'll probably as you to at least use up an NPC slot to keep the character, although again - case-by-case basis. Please note that this doesn't necessarily mean the character has to be killed off; it just means that they won't be a regular part of roleplay after the end of the plot. Killing them off is an effective way to do that, but it doesn't necessarily have to be. A character who is saved from dying might move away, a mad scientist's apprentice might swear off the forbidden research and turn his talents to curing cancer. Both solutions make them not exactly our problem anymore.
Second. How powerful is the character going to be? If they're too powerful, I might not ant them on the site, period. If they're reasonably owerful, but are going to stick around, I might ask you to make them a main.
After all the details get settled with both myself/Sora and the arc's creator, there's still one thing left to go - post the character (or, if their existence is mysterious, only a small clue about the character) in the Registration area. If you gave me all the information about your character, you're considered already registered. This condition applies automatically to plot characters created by the plot's creator - the process of running the arc by me includes running the major players past, too. Plot characters can be created as a separate account or bonded to an existing account like normal NPCs.
In closing, I hope that this hasn't scared you off of trying out to participate in an arc. I promise, the rules are there for a reason, and despite how it may sound, I'm usually not going to actually be as strict in real life as these 'worst-case' scenarios.
Have fun, guys. I mean it.
