((I did this in the style of an interview, thought it'd be nifty))
"Ascension for the Otherborn, fall of the Humans."
With this chilling plotline we launch into a time skip, depicting Urbadelphia in a not-so-positive state. Similar to that of Eternal Future, but not as dark. Our topic story is sitting down with Michael Fri to discuss about Otherborn's chilling newest plotline: Ascension.
Michael Fri is a seasoned writer, who has been doing small projects here and there on many rp sites. Now he takes a bigger involvement in Otherborn with this story.
We talk to Michael about his involvement in Otherborn's making and the stories he has been working on.
---
Q: Lets get right started with your involvement in Otherborn.
Michael: Certainly, Otherborn was inspired from a Youtube studio that took prexisting canon characters and made stories out of them. Similar to that of a fanfiction - I was inspired enough to create the idea of Otherborn. But I needed someone to do the managing, or help, with the managing part of the site: that was Miri.
Q: What would you say about Otherborn's form of story?
Michael: Probably one of the few sites that didn't really need an arc to propel the story. If you look you'll see some of the best stuff is individualistic.
Q: So would you call Ascension an arc?
Michael: No. Ascension is a 'Saga', like a TV Season rather than a movie. Imagine the story in 3 parts, we do one part, take a break for filler, then launch part 2. Rather than an arc, which is on the go from start to finish. Leaving no room for filler.
Q: Why choose this style?
Michael: Arcs that are long tend to lose interest quick, I figured if I do a large story in smaller bits, it won't fall apart.
Q: How involved is everyone?
Michael: I got a decent turn out, Miri's been supportive of the story. Wresie has been well involved, I even got Brendan -who I never did a thread with- to join that was cool. And of course Adam and Jordan got involved, always good to have them aboard. I got some new guys in it too, I think it's going pretty good.
Q: Avoiding spoilers, who would you say would be the MOST involved character?
Michael: Neku Sakuraba. Definitely.
Q: Really? How so?
Michael: You'll learn why.
Q: To slightly change the subject, you were working on a story called 'City of Vengeance. Are we going to see that soon?
Michael: Ahh City of Vengeance...that has been delayed quite a bit, which has given me loads of time to fine tune everything. It would have came out now, but I decided to retool the story to act as a prelude. And as I said before, it felt like it would be counter-productive to launch an arc. I felt this Saga idea would work better in terms of interest.
So no, no City of Vengeance yet. You'll probably see it after Ascension
Q: Before we close up part 1 of this interview, I would like to ask what the goal of Ascension is? What do you want to do to the players?
Michael: I want them to question everything that has been pre-established, seriously, the revelations this story will have will make the players wonder many things about the Otherborn and the future.
Q: I look forward to see more of it.
---
That concludes our part 1, stay tuned for part 2 of the interview as we talk about characters and villains. And stay tuned for more of Ascension.
