Nothing like some Rintami fluff before bed! Anyone from CR will understand the context between these two a bit better, but the message is easy enough to get. This is my first time writing proper fluff. I cried. Manly tears.
It's amazing what a few months can do to a place... The last time he was here, the land was barren and the water was cold, it was torn by the scars of battle between two juggernauts... An immovable object and an unstoppable force. They had contradicted each other that day, shown one another what they were capable of, show one another just how powerful they were in mind and body, but just how weak they were in heart.
Kill.
He had to kill his best friend to grow stronger.
She lay before him unconscious... This was his chance now, he would achieve all of his potential with one stroke of his sword... He could make it as quick as he wished... He raised the blade.
He hadn't done it. He couldn't have brought himself to then and he still wouldn't be able to now, and he still couldn't understand why. Why was he so weak?!
That was why he needed the Jack.
Jack offered to awaken his potential, without the need for killing her. But he had fallen into a dark place to do so, he had helped taint and twist others all for the sake of her life. Others had died so she could live, and yet the Jack uses her as a wrench just to get to him, all he has to do is pay her a visit and she's dead. So he has to do as the Jack asks, just so the he can keep her safe... And alive.
It's amazing what a few months can do to a place...
Grass now covered the tops of the valley, and the water appeared to be filled with life. He lay down in the grass, staring up at the blue sky. His black cloak spread out beneath him like a blanket, fluttering occasionally in the wind as a single leaf flew past on the breeze, landing on his chest.
He picked it up, and looked at it. It was cut, sliced down the middle, but still whole. The leaf was broken but it could still survive as part of something bigger, just like them... They were torn from one another, broken, disenchanted, but they could survive... Become something more if they tried... He placed his sheathed sword on his cloak, weighing it down as he stood up and approached the cliff edge.
Looking down, he saw the waters on which they'd battled. How they had traded blows and strikes and kicks and read one another's thoughts through their fists. He smiled warmly at the thought, his spiked blue-black hair waving slightly in the wind as he looked across to the opposite cliff of the valley, with onyx black eyes.
Onyx latched onto Emerald.
His eyes widened as he stared at the figure atop the other cliff. He looked down, judging the distance between the two, he could easily jump it. He took a few steps back for a run-up when a voice spoke behind him.
"Tami..."
"ITAAAAMIIIII!"[/b]
He turned around, she was sat there on his cloak, cross legged, smiling at him like an old friend. Not a foe.
"Rin..."
"RIIIIIIIN!"
It was hard to believe this was happening, for so long they'd fought and argued, mere pawns to the game masters who used them for their own personal gains. They had never met by chance, save for the first time they ever met, it had always been pre-ordained on a battlefield or war ground. But here they were, here on their own accord, their instincts dragging them to where they are now.
A strong wind blew behind him, the purple rope tied around his waist pushed towards her. They both stared at each other before they both blurted out at the same time.
"I miss you, Tami-"
"I always think about you-"
A long pause...
They both start laughing. It's been so long since he laughed, he can't remember doing so since he was young, before his family had died.
"Come and sit next to me, Trench Coat." She teased with a smile, referring to him by his old nickname that she had given him. He smirked back.
"Sure thing, cripple."
He walked over, and sat next to her on her right side. His left leg outstretched and his right tucked up to his chest, his right wrist laying against it. They both stare out at the horizon, admiring the beauty of a land they thought they had scarred.
She cocks her head to the side, resting it against his shoulders. Though she lacks arms, he knows that if she had them they would be doing nothing. Armless hugs are her specialty. He doesn't move, he chooses to speak instead.
"I've been so busy... I've been fighting wars and battles, killing demons from the lowest to highest echelon and not broken a sweat. I've learned things that no man should know, seen things that no man should see, heard things that no man should hear. I've learned who I am, where I came from, what I'm capable of. Everything's changed but you... You were the constant, the one thing that was always there... Except for now. Have we changed now? Are we no longer enem-"
"You're talking, Tami."
He looked across, she'd moved her head, staring at him with those emerald green eyes that were so opposite to his own. They glistened with tears in the corners and he was hit with instant guilt. To think he who had slayed demons was in turn slayed by a look from this girl... No... This woman.
"You're talking, and I don't like it..."
Her cheeks had turned a slightly darker shade of pink, a tear rolled down each cheek as she stared at him, like a statue. He smiled warmly and raised his hands, taking her face in them, she jumped slightly at his touch but smiled back, she was warm. He wipes the tears away.
"Well, there's not much else I can do."
"There is."
He had anticipated it, but it had still caught him off guard. Despite a lack of arms, she moved forwards with unparalleled grace, manoeuvring her face to the side so her nose fit in next to his own. She locked him in a kiss, but kept pushing, her strength surprised him, toppling him backwards whilst maintaining the kiss.
He was laid in the grass, she was laid on top of him, their lips still locked. He supported their weight on his left elbow whilst his right hand gently held the side of her face. She moved back slightly, they were both somewhat red in the face. As before, they both tried to speak, but this time, the same words.
"I love you-"
"I love you-"
As before, another pause before they burst into laughter. She lay down next to him, nuzzling her hair under his jaw, their legs intertwined, her nubs holding onto his right arm.
"This time, you're going nowhere, Itami Kodoku."
