((Sing to the Stars ~
Noriyuki Iwadare - To The Moon [Grandia III OST]))
A quiet lullaby, sung in a language unfamiliar and strange; a mother holds in her lap a child with dirty blonde hair, a darker shade than her own, and calm purple eyes. She smiles down at him as she sings, the words not only beautiful but powerful, emanating of both love and sadness, joy and sorrow, wrapping the child within their cocoon and making him safe.
He appears around four or five years old, clinging to his mother as she sings. Finally, as she finishes, he asks her a simple question.
"Mommy... tell me about Daddy....? What was he like....?"
Her smile and eyes soften as she is taken to a far away place.
"A shadow," she says quietly, as her mind casts back to days gone by. "Many say he is a bad man... but I sometimes wonder about that." She smooths her child's hair, and he snuggles closer to her, content but curious. "He lives by his whims; to him, the world is a playground, a sandbox. He believes that the greatest power in this world is what we make for ourselves."
"Is that a bad thing?" the boy asks, his foxlike ears flattening closer to his head, worried, heart in his huge, purple eyes.
"No, my love," she says quietly, another tone in her soft voice. "What is bad is not being all that you can be... being afraid of strength."
"I don't understand...."
Her hand runs through his hair again, petting those strange ears as she does so.
"Someday, you will," she says.
He clings to her, thinking... then looks up again.
"Mommy... will I ever meet Daddy?"
She nods. "Someday. Someday soon... I can't say when. Your father has always followed his own path." And her eyes fill with pride. "But I hope you do... whatever you may think of him."
"I know Daddy's not a bad person!" he blurts out. "If... if I can see him again, someday... then he's a good person! A bad person would go away forever! It was... important, right? So he's good!"
She pets her son's head again, then dislodges him from her lap, eyes still filled with pride and love for their child, human or not as he may be.
"I love you, Kiseki... my little miracle." She sets him down on the bed she'd been sitting in, covers him up. "Dream of great things, little kit."
He snuggles into bed; as she turns off the lights, her song fills the house once again.

Just an imagining, nothing more. Sorry if I got the mother's personality wrong; I think by now everyone knows what pairing produced this adorable cutie... Popped into my head last night and I finally got it written down.
