"When you're trapped in a world in which demons are relentless and Crossings are nightmarish places, you tend to find strength to protect the ones you love. This is what the twins, Josh and Sophie discover in each other. Today we sit with their player and talk about these two and their roles in the world of Otherborn."
---
Q: Hello, lets start with a common question: how long have you been roleplaying?
A: Actually, outside the world of video gaming, not all that long. I started on Otherborn around November, but sadly lost interest. Late April / early May, I rediscovered Otherborn whilst searching through my bookmarks, and started playing again (though Josh and Sophie didn't come along until later).
In retrospect, only a few months.
Q: So you're relatively new to this type of story telling, how do you feel you have been adjusting to it?
A: Pretty well, I suppose. I'm used to novel-style writing, and mostly in third-personso that's what ost of Josh and Sophie's appearances have turned out to look like.
Q: Tell us a bit about the characters, for those of us who may now have read the original source: are they any different in this world or are they very similar to how they were originally?
A: After continuing to read the series in which they came from (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel), I decided to go back in time to a point in which they were still adjusting to their new 'powers', and when both actually had something to defend themselves with (the end of Book 2). Not only had they something special about them, the were also confused on what to do, where to go, and how to avoid trouble. It seemed to follow them wherever they went.
Mostly, they are the same as in the first two books, but they have never heard of 'Crossings', and had never seen true 'demons'. I used their Awakened senses to allow them to see these things, though they had not known. (Which, in turn, none of their trainers had either).
Q: From the interaction I have seen, Josh is very defensive and a bit of a loner to no one but his sister. Do you worry that Josh will be unapproachable? That he will be too much of a loner?
A: Josh is very protective of his sister, and a little too often, too much. The bond that has connected them, and held them together, has weakened over time, mostly by the distance Josh stands when faced against the countless knowledge Sophie has. I do fear that he has become too attached to his sister, and that he's becoming a lonerbut I also fear that he ay fall into the wrong hands, and ultimately have to choose between what he thinks is right, and Sophie. I don't see Josh as unapproachable. He can be very gullible at times, and tends to believe people more often than he should, and I think someone may catch on at some point in time and take advantage of it.
Q: With this new Saga, Ascension, do you think there could be many opportunities for these two to share bonds with other characters?
A: I most certainly do. When we feel like we're the "new people in town," we tend to wander about, looking for something to attach, and hold on to, so that we don't feel left out in the new world we've entered. Josh and Sophie had made countless friends over time, but with everything that's been happening around them, they are trying to avoid the pastleaving thewith only each other to hold onto. They will, undoubtedly, eventually want to fit in with their new world, and find many opportunities along the way, some of which I can see trying to break the bond between them. The more they feel like they don't know any of the people they interact with, the more they'll want to interact with them. (Sophie has already shown a little interest in Aqua.)
Q: From what we've seen of the two, in the current situation they certainly give off the air of 'being drawn into a conflict'. So my new question, with these two being as different as they are, what do you think their stance would be if they found the Otherborn could either be on the verge of evolution or extinction?
A: That's something hard to think about. If Josh was told that the Otherborn are what's causing these problems, he would most likely follow into "rash actions". Sophie, on the other hand, would see it differently. She would try to help the Otherborn prosper, and move away from the source of the problem. With Sophie being 'half-Otherborn', if Josh were to find out, (if not too late), he would try to protect Sophie in the process.
..Though he would fall back into the phase of "what to do".
Q: These characters have quite a journey ahead of them, before we conclude this interview is there anything you would like to add for our audience?
A: To tell you the truth, I'm not really sure what there is to add other than maybe the views of the twins of each other, but I'm sure that'll come in due time. ^^
Q: There you have it folks, two siblings thrust into a dangerous world that may either make or break them. I don't know about you, but I do think that we should pay attention to this duo for they have a lot of possibilities for the future.

"And with that, concludes our interview. Do you have any comments? Thoughts? Post them below and stay tuned for more updates to plotlines."
