Right! As some of you may know, from rants long ago on Skype, my whole Shogun 2 Campaign walkthrough/story has fallen through thanks to corrupted files. Still, I'm determined to continue, but I want to give you guys a level of control. So, below there is a short summary for each of the nine playable clans (I can't play as Ikko-Ikki or Hattori thanks to having a standardized version of the game) so you guys can vote on which clan you want to see! Note, that each clan has a different 'starting difficulty' depending on their position :3
So, I present to you in no particular order!
Date: Masters of the no-dachi samurai, all Date troops get a boost to their charge strength. They start in the north-east of the map and have a large stretch of land which acts as a good buffer against enemy forces. They can recruit cheaper, more effective no-dachi samurai who are devastating in mid-range combat.
Uesegi: Masters of religion, all Uesegi troops have improved morale. They start just to the east of the Date, sharing borders with the Date, the Takeda who are south of them and one of the weaker, non-playable clans to it's west. They can recruit cheaper, more effective warrior monks who, depending on their type, can be devastating at all ranges, although they lack the specialization of other clans.
Takeda: Masters of cavalry, all Takeda cavalry is superior to it's counterparts in the other clans. Starting in a central location sharing borders with the Uesegi to the north, the Date to the east, the Hojo to the south and the Imagawa (a somewhat powerful non-playable clan) to the west, it is in a somewhat perilous position. They can recruit cheaper, more effective cavalry who can fulfill a variety of roles.
Hojo: Masters of architecture, the Hojo are masters of building and destroying castles. They start on a coastline with two territories rather than the standard one, they face the Imagawa to the west and the Takeda to the north as well as small, weak clans to the east. They can recruit cheaper, more effective siege units as well as upgrade their castles for a reduced cost.
Shimazu: Masters of kenjutsu, the Shimazu are masters of the sword, who have superior katana units. They start on an isolated island, sharing borders with no significant clans, although the weaker clans of the island can become quite formidable. They can recruit cheaper, more effective katana units as well as having more loyal generals.
Mori: Masters of the waves, the Mori have the most effective navy in all of Japan. They start to the far north-west, far from any significantly powerful clans. They can recruit cheaper, more effective naval units, which can make them devastating to an enemies trade routes.
Tokugawa: Masters of justice, the Tokugawa are actually vassals to the Imagawa, they start in a central location with the Oda to the north and the Imagawa to the south, with smaller clans to the east and the west. They can recruit superior Metsuke who tax the populace and keep the peace, as well as cheaper, more effective kisho ninja, who can climb walls faster than other units, and remain hidden.
Chosokabe: Masters of the bow, the Chosokabe have the most effective archers in all of Japan. They start isolated on a different island, shared with three weaker clans. They can recruit superior bowmen as well as have far more productive farms than any other clan, meaning money and food isn't always an issue.
Oda: Masters of the people, the Oda have the most effective ashigaru (peasant) units, meaning they can field massive armies. They start of in a very central location near the Tokugawa, and the Takeda if the horsemen expand. They can recruit cheaper and more effective ashigaru units, who have better morale than all save the Uesegi.
There you have it guys! I leave you all with a week to help me decide which clan to play as :3
