Shiki jumped at the last words he said. A little anger retreated from her eyes, her expression that was on him. She bit her lip a moment and then said, calmer than before but still angry, "You're right. A plan that involves me. So I should know whatever they do, I dealt with it for almost thirteen years. You think I want to wait and see what happens? Do you think that I don't go everyday wondering what the hell is going to happen if Sin gets his hands on you? Ever think that I'm afraid of losing you?!"
She looked away, "I know you want answers to...protect me. But if I don't know them, how am I going to protect myself?"

"Him? Get me? How..." he stopped himself when he realized he was on the verge of sounding arrogant, Ghost Rider was one of the more powerful forces, but still there always others... he looked at her and gave a small growl - pulling the chain up in his hands.
"Fine..." he said, turning to her parents. "You heard her, you got answers long overdue now for her sake I will give you one more chance to answer honestly. Try something or give me an answer I don't like, then I won't be able to control what I will do next."

Laura glanced up at her husband who nodded to Sora, "We'll talk." Shiki now looked to him, glaring again, "I'm not talking to her. Not right at this moment anyway." Her mother got a look in her eyes that said she wasn't completely sane and said, "Nothing's really changed."
Shiki gave her a nasty look, "Get out of my face." Laura cringed and mumbled, "I'll be in the other room, Joseph." She hurried away, making sure to stay behind her husband and as far from her daughter as she could get. Shiki looked straight to Sora, "Don't you even stop her." There was no way she was going to be able to remain calm if she continued to be in the same room with her like this. Well, as calm as she could get.
Joseph stepped farther into the living room and Shiki did as well, though not getting close to him. He looked to Sora, calm, but aware, "Where do you want me to start?"

Sora growled at Shiki's mother as she walked off. You will get what's coming to you.
He turned back to Shiki's father.
"I'd figure we start at the beginning," he said, "Tell me how Sin came into your lives."

"Sora. I'm still here." I noted.
I sent a glare at Shiki's dad saying this this would get ugly if he tried anything funny but also to Sora indicating the same thing.

He nodded and directed his attention to Shiki, who just raised an eyebrow. She did not expect to be recognized by him during this, but their relationship had always been different from her and her mother's. Joseph began, "Your mother was seventeen when she first encountered your uncle. It was an accident, she got caught in a Crossing and was pulled out by Sin. They didn't talk very long, according to your mother's story she only told him her name. After a while she saw him again, he came around frequently."
He paused, glanced at Sora and Riku, and then went back to Shiki, "I met Sin while your mother and I were dating, I saw them together and confronted them. Sin took on a different form around your mother, I knew there was something evil about him but she was oblivious. He never issued violence when he came around, though he taunted me often because he knew I didn't like him."
"Then one day your mother came to my door, completely out of her mind, I'm sure you know what I mean. She kept going on about Sin and demons, how he told her that Otherborn were just like him and other things I couldn't understand." He shook his head, "Then Sin disappeared, we didn't hear from him for years. Laura has only ever spoken her side of this story once and refuses to speak of it again. Whatever she saw traumatized her greatly."

He didn't seem to be lying, Sora carefully watched him as he answered - looking for any nervous ticks or motions. His statement sparked an interest in his head, something that may piece together some key parts.
"Okay...how does Shiki come into play, what does he want with her?"

This time when he looked to Shiki, his eyes were a mix of emotions. She didn't like that and just gave him a hard look that clearly demanded one thing: Tell me. Joseph sighed, "When you were three, Sin came here. He told us you were Otherborn, which scared your mother. She didn't believe him at first, but then when he said you also carried demon blood...she lost it. Her fear and hate towards you started at that very moment. And he took his chance, offered to take you away so we wouldn't have to...be burdened with you any longer." He was reciting exact words, Shiki just placed a hand on the couch and gripped it.
Joseph looked to Sora, "This is where I can only answer a little of your question." Back to Shiki, "Sin wanted you, as I was guessing, for your demon blood. Whatever the full picture is, that has to be the main part. The deal we made had simple rules; at age thirteen he'd take you from us and we wouldn't be bothered again. We had to cut you off from the world, keep you within these walls. We both agreed and he was gone."
Shiki narrowed her eyes, "Back up. You said she was scared, she hated me. But...what about you? That's what's not convincing me."

Sora looked at him oddly, Shiki had a point - he noticed a lot of things too oddly earlier, his lack of fear to him despite his mother shaking, his knowledge of this deal and another fact: Sin wasn't Shiki's biological uncle, so where did her demon blood come from?
"That's an interesting story there...tell me something, you don't seem to be afraid of me, do you know who I am?" he asked.

Joseph looked to Sora, both eyebrows raised, though not in surprise, "Know you? No, I don't. And I don't know what you were doing with that chain earlier either. But...I know for a fact you're an Otherborn." Shiki was startled at that, "Seriously? I mean, wouldn't you think-no offense Sora-"
"That he's a demon?" Joseph finished for her. Shiki now watched him warily and he continued looking at Sora, "I've encountered demons, Otherborn, and Halfers. I can tell who is what easily." Shiki stared at him, "But how? That doesn't make any sense he was glowing-!" And she stopped. Her eyes widened and she thought about it. How he'd always acted differently than her mother, not as disgusted...
"Are you...no..." Shiki shook her head, but looked at him differently now, as if she was afraid of him.

Sora then smirked, pointing at Joseph and winking, "Gotcha."
Then he added, "Oh yeah, you're wrong on all accounts - I am not Otherborn or Halfer, actually...I'm the Ghost Rider. Warden of the Otherworld, all that stuff, not important: I think now you should get to the part where you should start telling the truth about yourself."

Joseph chuckled, "I thought you were different, couldn't read you right at all." He looked to his daughter, "Do you know what I'm getting at, Shiki?" She bit her lip, "...Possibly."
He nodded, "Say it then." She hesitated, thought it over. It was a ridiculous suggestion really, a stupid one. Probably as wrong as she could get. But...she couldn't shake the feeling that she was right, that a lot would be explained. So she said in an almost whisper, "...You're an Otherborn."
A very small smile fell onto his face for a moment, "Yes." Then it was gone and he looked to Sora, turning from his daughter who's eyes were wide with shock. "I'm an Otherborn."

Sora narrowed his eyes, "Whoop de doo for you, now I only feel more assured that if I have to kick your ass then at least you're not COMPLETELY helpless. I am guessing due to the lady's bigotry she's not aware of your little secret?"

"Obviously not, anyone with eyes can see that." He waved his hand at Shiki, "I never told her, not even her mother knows." Shiki mumbled, "I figured. So want to explain some more?"
Joseph said, "I have an ability of sight that allows me to tell apart demons, Halfers, and Otherborn. I knew from the time you were one year old that you were something different."
"But what about...you could've..." She growled, "I'm the same as you and you put me through that anyway. You hate me, even though we're the same kind. How low can you get?"
Her father met her gaze, "I never said I hated you, Shiki." That shoved her back and she yelled, "Oh no! Don't start pulling that shit! Twelve years you ignored me, I'm not about to start forgving anytime soon." He held up his hand, "I don't expect it." He looked to Sora, "What else?"

"Beyond the fact you're the worst father of the year? You're implying the demon blood in Shiki could be the main reason why Sin is after her, but Otherborn are usually the by product of a diluted demon bloodline, any demon blood in her would be thin and barely there: so I must ask with your all great sight, have you ever seen anything else in her? Stronger demon bloodline? Something?"
