He glanced at Shiki, "Do you know you're family history?" Shiki didn't answer, she didn't really have to becuase Joseph looked to him, "Or maybe that is a question I should be asking you, since you seem to know about the family. Do you know her relation to Sin?"

Sora raised his eyebrow, "Allegedly Uncle, for awhile I was questioning if that was true or if it was just a massive manipulation on the Mrs. to get her trust and confidence."

Joseph shook his head, "Sin is my wife's half brother. She isn't aware of that, I took the time myself into looking into the family history. Supposedly her mother is a Halfer who was with a demon and that resulted in Sin. However she moved on, got together with a human and Laura turned out to be one, though she carried one fourth demonic blood. I'm assuming that's what got passed down to Shiki."
He looked over at her, "Maybe she carries more than she's supposed to, or maybe it's more powerful than usual. I'm not a genetic expert. But..." He frowned, "Shiki, have you had any recent contact with Sin?"
"Um...yeah, why?" Shiki raised an eyebrow and Joseph shook his head, "There is something much different about you."

Sora's eyes widened, "What?! What the hell are you talking about, what the hell is different with her?!"
He was frantic, he let Sin get too close to her one time and now he found out he may be paying the price for it.

Shiki jumped and then gave him a look, one of surprise and worry, he'd nearly made her heart explode in her chest. She looked to Joseph who was staring at her with an odd expression, "You're blood was never active like this before. I could sense it, but it's now easily detectable. Did something happen?"
She gave him a confused look, "I don't know...he grabbed me but I didn't think he did anything...well weird things have been happening..." She got quieter as she talked and looked away from Sora, she now felt guilty for not telling him.

Sora looked back and forth between Shiki and her father before he spoke, "Looks like I am not the only one keeping things to themselves."
He turned back to her father, "One last thing, what was Sin's reaction when she ran away from home and joined the Network?"

She shook her head at Riku, it really wasn't alright. He looked surprised, "Joined the Network?" Shiki rolled her eyes, "Yes father dear, the Network. Contact actually, not that you'd care."
Joseph looked to Sora, "When she ran away we were advised to do nothing. He was more interested than anything when he learned she ran away and said he'd handle it. Then Sin disappeared from our lives, we haven't heard from him since. I never knew she was a part of the Network." Shiki crossed her arms, "I'm guessing you're not?"
He nodded and she sighed, "They tried to trace records to see if I had any family registered in the Network, nothing came up. So it figures."

Sora actually looked more worried than he did before, he narrowed his eyes. "Seems like I am done here...for now."
He walked around them and out the door. "Don't expect me to pick up the bill for any mental trauma."

Shiki only shook her head at Sora, almost going after him before her father's voice stopped her, "You really are different, Shiki." She looked back at him, "You never gave me a chance to try and be before." Joseph sighed, "That boy...he claims he is Ghost Rider?"
She narrowed her eyes, "You're hiding a lot more aren't you?" He glanced behind her and said, "In time you'll know, want to know really. Until then, choose what you wish. I doubt you wanted to come back here in the first place."
"I wish I hadn't." Shiki looked behind her and saw her mother staring out the door, "Someone's actually protecting you." Shiki scoffed, "Like you care. I'm out of here. Don't expect to get another visit from me willingly." And she walked out of the house, stopping on the front porch and called to Sora, "What now, Mr. Detective?"

"Your father's hiding more," he simply said, putting his hands in his pockets. "If you were not here, I could really get the information out of him. But from what I gathered is not good, Sin was not disturbed that you ran away at all meaning that he wanted you to run away from your parents."
He paused for a moment, "I keep thinking about it...your bloodline is now stronger than it was before, but he let you remain in the Network...if I were to hazard a guess, he could be trying to make you stronger...toughen you up for something..."

She glanced back towards the house, "Everyone's hiding something, Sora. You can't expect to get all the answers." Shiki sighed, "So if I stay, I'm still doing his bidding, if I left then he'd just be able to get me easily. Once again I'm trapped in a corner..." That part she mumbled to herself and rubbed her wrist, the one Sin had grabbed that day, when he did something that she wasn't sure of.
He wants me stronger...but why? Why didn't he take me as soon as the deal was made? Why wait almost thirteen years?
