"Alayna!" A woman in her late twenties shouts, racing down the halls of an average city High School, her cry frantic as she chases after a girl passing evenly. The hall is full of students and the woman has to shove her way through, but its no use, the girl vanishes from her vision. "Wait! Alayna!" Its then that the world shuts down, a sharp drop of sound echos in the woman's ears her eyes barely catching the flow shift.
"Ah... Reality shifts," A voice snickers behind her and she whirls around. A young girl stands there, eyes black holes, but boring into the woman. "You should know she can't wake up, won't hear you." The child does not speak for their mouth has been sewn shut, but their voice echos around the area. A purple pulse picking up when they speak, the world already having faded to a black.
"What do you mean? She can't wake up... She isn't asleep!"
"But, you see, the Alayna you raised... She is asleep," The child's lips turn into a smile under all the thread. "... As the keeper of her imagination I should know well... So why don't you go and find yourself a new Hunter."
The woman glares, her eyes turning a deep red, "Never, Alayna is my one and only student... You will give her back!" The woman's averageness melts away and you see a Hunter with long claws and lithe body to match. "Give her back now!"
"Hmmm...?" The child begins to float, their hair whipping around them. The are fluxes with purple pulses. "I think not, Hunter... She is mine to guard and your's to lose, ah-hah-hah~!"
"Never." The word is snarled as the woman charges the child, her claws dragging behind her and building sparks along the ground. "Never shall you keep her!" Her weapons are thrown before her and swipe at the floating being.
"... Heh..."

Alayna walks down the hall. School is boring per usual and her normal life couldn't be anymore peaceful. Turning a corner she bumps into on of her friends. He gives her a kind, shy smile, "Hey, Lay." She returns his smile and they begin to walk together.
"Hey Fell," She whispers as they pace towards their class in step. The crowd flowing around them, as if outside of their time. They share a secret and silent laugh as they stop outside a door. "Did you study for the test?"
"Naw! My class's final isn't until next week," He gives her an encouraging look. "But I know you'll do great... Oh how's ---?" Just then the first bell rang and he jumps.
"You better go," Alayna pats his shoulder and send him along his way. Once he's around another corner the second bell rings, signalling she is late. Sighing I grabs for the door. But as she does her body freezes up and then she collapses, a half scream leaving her lips...

Fell frowns as he heads for the exit to the school near by, his eyes turning downcast. He doesn't like the fact he's a Monster and she's a Hunter... One day... If he's not given to one of the Hunters in training... They'll have to fight to the death...
"I... Don't..."
He doesn't want that... Never wanted it. But that day when he lost control of his Hunter powers sealed his fate. He was never meant to be seen by mankind again, just someone whom is an embodiment of evil. He sighs.
"I hope... Alayna does well..."
This was her placement test, to see what Monster she would be best fit to work with. And then next week he would be tested as well. They would be separated... or worse... He'd have to face off partners to train them...
He hates the system.
But he can't do anything about it. Not here, not while in it...
All he can do is complain and hope...
And hope he will.
