Otherborn are those individuals born with the ability to see, hear, and feel the Otherworld and its inhabitants. Most have special abilities that stem from the Otherworld, as well as a subconscious tie to the alternate realm that draws them to Otherworldly happenings.... and draws the Demons to them.
Otherborn often feel alienated from the normal world, although this is not always the case, and several are runaways, orphans, or simply outcasts.
Otherborn abilities rarely manifest themselves before the Otherborn experiences their first Crossing, a phenomenon that happens when a demon attempts to break through the Veil between this world and the Otherworld. Otherborn experience this as an overlaying of the two worlds, creating an alien landscape of familiar settings changed into monstrous nightmares.
Otherborn abilities range from extra-sensory perception to manipulation of the elements to telekinesis and beyond. Few Otherborn have more than one ability; the more powerful an Otherborn, the more tied to the Otherworld they are, and the more likely they are to accidentally be drawn through during a Crossing.
