Personality: Openly light-hearted on the surface, but beneath the outer facade, he's bitter about many things - including himself. His outward show of overconfidence hides a withering self-doubt. He hates demons with a blinding passion
History: A Third Sphere angel and loyal Miles Angel, the greatest honor Ithiel could ever have received was promotion to Guardian status. Guardian Angels - those beings chosen to guard the children of prominent Church families, special children believed to be at high risk for target by demons. Until those children are eighteen and able to defend themselves, a Guardian is assigned to protect them.
Ithiel was chosen to be one of those special Guardians - and he could imagine no higher honor that he could receive from his position.
This was the start of his path, a path he felt he was born to walk.
But then, the unthinkable happened.
The child Ithiel was assigned to protect died. Targeted by demons and ambushed at a time when Ithiel was unable to reach him, the child was ripped limb from limb. All Ithiel could do was watch in horror as he arrived too late.... and then, drawing his weapon, destroy the demons with a bestial fury that shocked his superiors.
The combination of his almost-demonic anger and (presumably) preventable failure caused him to undergo a 'demotion' of sorts. A Guardian cannot be unmade once made.... but since then, Ithiel has never been charged with wardenship over another child, and only rarely sent to do battle with the Miles Angels.
The current Purge of Urbadelphia is his one chance to prove himself worthy to the Archangel that he may yet be worthy of the title granted to him....
And to prove to himself the exact same thing.
