The silence stayed for a while. I focused on playing with the junk in my pockets until the quiet became unbearable. "So do you have any preference on where we go to eat?" I said, hoping it would be enough. "You have to know somewhere with good food. You've been here longer then me."

He chuckled. "There are several nice little places up and down main street, depending on your budget," he replied, glad to be back in his area of expertise. "What kind of food are you into? I know good Italian places, Chinese places... heck, there's even a couple of decent sushi places around here if you don't mind someplace a little fancier."

"Italian or Thai is good. Just not Scandinavian. Not a big fish fan and that's all they really seem to have." For once, this wasn't due to a past issue or any connections with my family, I just don't like fish... What can I say, they taste slimy. "So what kind of food do you want? You might as well have a say, I'm not that much of a bitch to drag you out where you don't want to be."

"Let's do Thai," he said. "I like spicy food... I like to think it's because of my heated personality."
He grinned.

Again, I held back a laugh. "You always full of terrible puns, Lea?" Oddly enough, this was probably the happiest I've been while sober in a long time. It was different.

"Yep! Well... I'd like to think they're not terrible, but Neku'd probably agree with you..." He shrugged. It was nice, just walking like this.

"So how much longer til the Thai place?" I thought about pulling out another stick of gum but I decided against it, I oddly didn't feel the need for a smoke that was an almost constant. Maybe it was him, or just being outside and enjoying myself for once.

"See that sign over there?" He pointed towards a glowing sign in the distance. "That's it - so just a few more blocks now." He took the opportunity to get a little closer.
This was what he loved. Just existing with another person. That, and a little bit, the competition of it, the game - winning the girl, and all that. Showing off, getting her attention, it was all part of the fun.
All in good spirits, of course. He grinned.
Nights like this were the best.

I looked ahead towards the sign when I heard Lea take a step closer to me. Since I'm trying not to be cold, I didn't call him out on it or move away.
After a few moments of silence we finally arrived. I went to the door and walked inside. The smell of food instantly assaulted me but it wasn't unpleasant. Decorations that fit the Thai culture hung on the walls and everything. It was different but again, not unpleasant. "Never actually been in a restaurant before, just bars." A sad truth.

"Really?" he asked, taking her up to the place where you wait to be seated. "Well, then, I guess I'll have to make this a pleasant first experience, then!" He grinned. "Two," he said when the waiter queried them. "The name's Lea."
It wasn't too long of a wait before they were seated - it was the perfect environment for a date. Not too fancy, but not too casual, either. Lea handed her the menu.
"When I come in here," he explained, "I usually just order the thing with the name that interests me most. That way, I always have a new experience."

I was about to say something but the waiter quickly came and sent us over to the table we were to sit at. I pulled out my chair and sat. This was a new experience for sure. As he explained his way of ordering a thought came to mind.
"Sounds like a good idea as long as I don't get something disgusting." I looked through the menu and found plenty with foreign names that I found difficult to pronounce. I've never been good with languages except my first language. Eventually I found something and tried to pronounce it in my head.

Lea found something as well; he was getting better at pronouncing things in foreign languages, since he did this at several different restaurants. "Which one are you looking at? Just point to it," he suggested.

I pointed to what I was looking at and showed it to him. "Is that any good? Do you know?" I simply did what he said, he is more experience with this sort of thing then I am. I look at it again for a brief moment, try to pronounce it in my head again and turned it back to Lea.

He smiled. "I think that's a great choice," he said, before coaching her on how to pronounce it. Their server came, and he ordered the choices.
"Having fun?" he asked her, smiling as they waited.

"It's definitely new, I can tell you that much." Again, I tried to pronounce what I was ordering but gave up. I can get through life fine without knowing how to say that.
"So, take many girls here?" I watched for a reaction, I'm pretty sure I can't be that special for it to be just me.
