He was taking a drink of water when she asked that, so when he choked, he not only accidentally sprayed water in front of him, but dropped the glass which bounced to the floor.
"Uh...! N-no, not really. Actually... you're th first I've brought here." He paused. "Well, here to this restaurant. I've dated other girls. Or, well. Not... not many other girls!"
He groaned mentally. Smooth, Lea! Real smooth!
Arrrgh, this was a disaster! He bent over to grab the cup, trying to get a break from the horror to re-collect his thoughts.

His reaction was definitely amusing but I made a mental not to not ask those kind of questions again. I wouldn't want him making a complete fool of himself in public even if it is good entertainment.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to-" I stopped and went to pick the cup off the floor. I needed to stop asking questions that would make him clumsy. Can't be that good for him.

They both grabbed the glass at the same time - or, rather, Aya grabbed the glass, and Lea grabbed Aya's hand.
He stopped dead where he sat, half doubled-over in his chair, and he looked over at her, surprised.
It felt... nice.
After a moment, he coughed, let go, looked away, trying to decide why he suddenly felt a little hot. This place needed better air conditioning.
It had to be the air. This was just a friendly date - nothing more, nothing less. She was the one who was supposed to be impressed by him, and that's exactly how it was.

I was shocked but didn't bother to move my hand away. I just put the glass back on the table and played with my hair. Is this normal? He looked just as embarrassed as I did.
I took a deep breath in and began to wonder about if the food was coming or not. It'd be a good way to end the awkwardness but not waiter showed up.

He cleared his throat.
"So, um.... I wonder when the food'll get here?" he asked, trying to break the awkward silence.

"I- I don't know. I was just thinking the same thing." I kept playing with my hair and trying to ignore what happened earlier. Awkward...

"I-it should be here soon. The wait times are usually pretty decent here...."
God. This was torture....
".....thisdateisatotaldisasterisn'tit?!" he finally blurted out, unable to contain himself any longer.

I scratched an itch on my wrist and muttered out "Maybe a bit." I sat and waited while the silence sunk in again.
"Alright so now what do we do?"

He hung his head. "I..."
No.
He couldn't give up.
"We.... we make it better!" He raised his head. "After dinner, we should.... I dunno, do something. And maybe... dinner will help make it.... better?"
...yeah, okay, he failed. Time to give up now.

His scrambling to fix this date was amusing. I'm sure I'm partly to blame for the date kinda failing so I shrugged. "How about this Lea, We have and enjoy dinner and then go see a movie, doesn't matter where, and see if we can salvage this date. Sound good to you?"

He grinned.
"Alright, then!" he said, and that's when the food came, and there was little room for further conversation.

Huh, what do you know, I kinda fixed it. I began to feel proud and then the food arrived and dinner actually went well. Guess it wasn't a complete mess after all. Not bad for a first date I suppose.

He ate in silence - and at least this time, it wasn't awkward. The food was good, just like always. This was one of his favorite places to eat for a reason.
He took his time, enjoying the dinner and the company.
He felt relaxed. He needed to relax more often.
