(Anybody can join this, really, anyone)
The buses began to pull in for the station, people coming and going, doing their daily thing. Bus 43 was still on the road to Urbadelphia, carrying many passengers who were returning or hoping to start new lives in the city. Some people were there...to escape a life, a dark life...but what they don't realize is: you don't leave a dark life.
The dark life stays with you.
Among many of these passengers, one of them was Sora Shimomura. A lone sixteen, nearly seventeen, year old man wearing a brown bomber jacket and ratty blue jeans. His brown hair obscured his hair as the bus bumped along the road.
"Excuse me."
Sora raised his head to an elderly woman who seemed to be trying to get his attention.
"I'm sorry to disturb you, but whats our destination again...?"
"Urbadelphia," Sora answered kindly, "last stop too."
"Oh thank you, my memory isn't what it used to be..." she smiled, "you here alone?"
"Yes, I'm here to go to school. Moving actually." he answered.
"Oh, you are brave man, leaving your home and parents behind."
"Thank you but...I don't have parents," Sora explained, "They passed away shortly after I was born."
"Oh I am sorry..." the woman apologized, "I hope that whatever Guardian Angel you have brings you happiness..."
"No ma'am..." Sora said, "No angel would ever want to give me a better life..."
Without another word Sora turned to the window and there he saw it...a shift in the atmosphere...a shift no normal person could feel, only a shift and Otherborn like him, and any others on the bus would feel.

I was just walking along, minding my own. Hangin' on the streets near the bus stop, listening to some tunes - you know the drill. Just another loner hanging around without much of a care.
But I'm not normal; I'm a Watcher. An Otherborn.
So when I felt the world spin around me, felt the energies of darkness that accompanied a Crossing, I swore under my breath and looked around.
The rift seemed to be focused on the incoming bus, but it was slowly expanding - something that is never, mark it, never, a good sign. I switched off my MP3 player, shoved it in the pocket of my shorts, and ran toward the bus stop like the forces of Hell itself were on my tail.
Which, if you think about it, they pretty much were.

The day was, for any normal person, just like no other. Everyone went on with their lives like they were going to be doing the same thing tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that. But that was not the case for Shiki, as she strolled down the streets of Urbadelphia. She'd arrived in the city a few days ago, and through each of those days she'd been more and more cautious, examining the city and looking out for people like her. Today she was exploring whatever part of the city she'd missed the previous days. One spot happened to be the bus station.
It was a crowded, but calm place. Shiki walked around, observing the people and whatever else inhabited the station. After a while she decided to head farther into the city, and turned to walk away, her back to a bus coming in.
That's when she felt it.
A shift in the atmosphere around her, a feeling of darkness closing in.
Her eyes widened as she felt the sensation. She knew exactly what was happening, even though most people around the station did not. A Crossing was taking place. Things were about to get real chaotic real fast. Before she could move though a flash of orange and blue ran past her right. Shiki spun around and saw a boy running towards the bus stop. With everyone else acting normal, she knew he must be able to feel it too. Shiki didn't see the rift moving towards the bus, her focus was on the boy. She took off running after him, soon only a few feet behind him.
"Hey!" she called out, doing her best to run around people and still keep the boy in her sight. For a moment she was right beside him, "Are you an Other-" before she could finish a person moved in front of her, forcing her to a stop. By the time she managed to get around and gain speed, the boy was far ahead of her. Still she ran towards him, running as fast as she could, avoiding as many people as she could.

I heard a shout behind me, then the sound of more running feet.
"Are you an Other-"
I cursed, spun around.
"Get back, you idiot, the rift's expanding!" I shouted at her. I had to get the people off that bus and to safety; there wasn't much time left.
I saw her, trying to catch up with me, and I realized I must've looked crazy to her, telling her to back off and then diving right back in, but there was no time.
I could see it starting to come through as the world went queasy around me, and everything started to shift.
Shit. Shitshitshitshit.

She faintly heard the remark from the boy. "Get back, you idiot, the rift's expanding!"
Well that comment didn't help any in his way. It just made Shiki run even faster until she hoped she was in earshot with him. "You're the idiot! Do you really think you can do this on your own?" She shouted to him while she once again dodged around more people. Finally she noticed the rift, expanding at a quick pace.
Aw damn.
Fed up with people getting in her way, she started shoving them aside, desprate to help. She ignored the many comments about her behavior as she finally was able to get beside the boy. "Look! You can't do this on your own and don't excpect me to just walk away!"
The rift was coming through fast, and the world started to spin. Shiki became dizzy and shook her head to focus.

Then, everything went to hell.
The world shifted so strongly, colors became brighter and more obscure. The road way began to rip apart and stretch, the signs suddenly sported evil eyes that glared at everyone. The bus driver panicked, tried to veer out of the way...but it only managed to smack into one of the shifting floorways. The bus flew through the air and landed with a crunch on it's side. Sora was tossed around for a bit, but managed to be only a little roughed up.

....aaaaand there went the bus.
Shit.
"Look, girl, I've been doing this for a while, I think I know what I can handle!" I snapped, not caring that I didn't exactly sound professional. "You should've gotten to safety when you could! Now we've gotta deal with the-"
Something roared. I turned to look.
A lesser demon; it had to be. It was monstrous and not at all humanoid, completely outta this world and looking for blood.
And it was huge.
Shitshitshitdamn-eff-you-see-kay.
"-demon," I finished pathetically.

Shiki didn't care to admit; this boy was ticking her off. It didn't help that just as he was yelling about how he could take care of himself and that she was still an idiot that the demon appeared, ugly and bloodthirsty. Annoyed and more than a little pissed about the guy's behavior she said, "Fine Mr. professional. If you think you can handle it, you go ahead and fight the demon while I take care of the bus. Unless you really can't handle it."
Shiki didn't wait for his response. She rushed over to the bus and climbed on top of it. Luckily it had landed door side up, which made things a lot easier. Shiki attempted to pull the door open, but if course it didn't work. She knelt down and lit her hand up with fire and proceeded to melt the door's hinges. When it finally became loose enough she grabbed the door and easily ripped it off. Then she peered down below at the passengers.
"Everything's going to be okay!" Shiki called down, though she wasn't sure if that was true. "I'm going to help you all out." She reached her hand down, waiting for someone to take it.

Sora grabbed Shiki's hand and crawled out of the bus wreckage.
"Thanks." he said, brushing glass off him as he got up.
He looked out on the roadway and saw the huge demon. As he stepped out his looked back to the bus, he didn't know if any were alive...but someone must have died. Because he could feel the power well up.
"Hey...Otherborn," he told Shiki, "Yeah, I know you're one...or I hope you're one anyway, cause otherwise...this is going to freak. you. out." Smoke came from his eyes, his hands began to heat up. "Damnit....God!"
As he began to walk to the creature, each footstep he took left a flaming imprint on the ground. Unnatural flames...

"Stupid girl," I mumbled angrily, "what's her problem!?"
I looked up at the demon; it looked hungry.
Well, fortune favors the bold and all that shit. Geronimo.
I rushed forward, white fire lighting up my hand; as I slashed out at the demon's leg, the ball of force in my hand lengthened into a cutting blade.
Seeing as it was easily three times my size, it growled, looked down, and swiped at me, sending me backwards into one of the floating pieces of scenery that had replaced the bus stop.
Okay, this is going to be a bit complicated....

Nodding at the boy she had just helped out of the bus, Shiki replied, "Sure thing." Her attention then went from the passengers, to the boy who had just adressed her as an Otherborn. She watched as smoke began to pour from his eyes as he walked towards the demon. He was right though, if she didn't see demons on a regular basis, she probably would have passed out at this sight. But she stayed awake and went back to pulling the passengers out of the bus.
Once most of them were our of the wreck, Shiki glanced back in to see to passengers, an older woman and a man, dead. The sight sent anger coursing through her. She pulled the last person, a little girl, out of the bus. When she looked up the victims were gone, save a few who were running as fast as they could away from what could have been their death bed.
Shiki jumped down from the bus, her eyes burning with anger. "I'm gonna kill the freaking thing." She then saw the orange haired boy from before, who didn't look very professional in the situation at the moment. She ran over to him and offered her hand. "Want any help yet?"

"Aw, shut up. I'd tell you to go to hell, but we're already there, so it wouldn't do us any good. 'Sides, don't want to tempt fate to draw us through any more than necessary..."
I glared up at the demon. "Pretty damn big. I wish we could get something up there to it's..."
.....waitaminute.
"How much do you weigh?" I demanded of her.
Maybe... just maybe...
I was too focused on the girl to see the other guy transforming, I'll admit right now. My mind was focused on bigger things at the moment.

An intense glare from Shiki was what awaited the boy after his comment. "Why the hell do I even bother with you?!" She breifly considered punching him, but tossed the thought away. Beating the guy up wasn't going to help the situation. When he demanded her weight she growled, "Do you think I have time to stand on a scale?"
After a moment she guessed, "I don't know, one-hundred and ten maybe?"
Annoyed once again she added, "Why does it matter?"

"One-ten... I can probably lift that," I mumbled, doing some calculations in my head before turning towards her with an intense gaze.
"Look, I'm a TK. On the count of ten, I'm going to lift you up there so you can get on top of that thing and do some real damage; you said you wanted to help, this is your chance. Ready?"

It must have been a miracle, because Shiki agreed with boy. Then a small smirk made it's way onto her face. "Heh, looks like I win. Alright then, throw me." She suddenly felt herself rising into the air. Doing her best not to flail around like a moron, she focused on the demon. Shiki didn't pay attention to the boy until she heard him yell, "Ten!" Then she was flying through the air, straight at the demon.
She flipped onto it's back, a grin of revenge on her face. She lit her hand up with flames, creating a ball of fire the size of a basketball. "This one's for you, Fiddo!" Shiki yelled at the creature and slammed her fist onto it's head, the fire burning at it's face. The demon roared and reered back, but Shiki refused to fall. Not until she felt like it.
