Ghost Rider's power may have temporary enhanced his strength...but that didn't make him better than Otherborns. A large demon proved that by grabbing Ghost Rider and slamming him into the ground.
"Off!" he roared, but instead he got chucked across the street and slammed against the building. He slowly got on his knees and growled. "Demons are getting stronger...we're wasting too much time."

"We'd better take out that diagram!" I said to him, slamming demons out of my way. "Hey, you!" I shouted at the girl. Shiki, right? "Head to the center, that spell's what's keeping the Crossing powered!"

Just as she was about to help out the skeleton boy, Neku shouted for her to head to the center. She rerouted and ran towards the spell, forcing the demons out of her way with more brutal actions then she had done to the people earlier. As soon as she got close to the spell, the demon blood within her reacted once again. She jumped back, not particulary fond of the feeling that she got from it. It was like a jolt of electricity, telling her that some part of her knew what it was. But after she recovered from the strange sensation that had gone through her, she moved forwards again.
"Neku! Get over here! I'm not strong enough to do this on my own!"

"Hey, don't order me around like that!" I argued, but went anyway.
She looked a little queasy, being around the spell. Was she...?
Nah. Couldn't be.
"C'mon, let's take this thing down!" I shouted rushing forward and slicing out it.
I felt it attempting to suck me in. "Ughhh," I groand. Just what I needed. Still, I continued to fight it, fighting its hold on me as well as this plane of reality. "C'mon, I can't do it by myself either!"

Imagine trying to walk in one direction, and someone pulling on you in the other. That's what it felt like trying to destroy the spell. As Shiki tried to strike at it, she would have to keep herself from falling into the Otherworld as well. Not an easy task. And the spell's reaction on her wasn't helping either.
"It's not working!" She yelled angrily as she tried to strike once again.

It was sucking her in. I knew the feeling, and it was acting on her much more strongly than it was on me this time around; it wasn't something I was really used to.
"Here," I said, stabilizing her with my mind. "YOu be ranged support; I'm trying to keep you grounded, but if you need to stop, do it! I don't want to have to come get you if you get sucked in."
Then I resumed my attack on the portal. I didn't tell her that grounding her was helping to ground me, too.

Without arguing Shiki switched her place with Neku, doing as he said. Except the part about stopping. She knew she probably should, she'd never experienced something this strong on her before. But no way was she going to have him do all the work. No matter how hard he tried to act like it, Shiki knew he couldn't do it all on his own.
She continued to strike, and then called out, "Hey, how about a full force attack together?"

The other two were having a hard time with the portal, Ghost Rider was still batting demons off. He growled at the tight predicament they were in, putting his axe away he pulled out two pistols and began to shoot. Backing up slowly as he was firing, in mid-shooting he spun and fired some bullets at the portal too, hoping to help pepper it down a bit.

I stepped back, turned to her.
"Guess we could give it a try. You sure you're gonna be okay? You look seriously pale."

"We don't have much of a choice, this thing has to break." She looked from the spell back to Neku. "I'll be fine." She lied about the last part, not sure if she would be, but refusing to admit it.

"Alright, if you're sure...." I thought for a moment.
"Hey; do you think maybe you could, I dunno, set my force on fire?" I asked her. "I'll slice a pillar from up underneath this thing, and you can combine your flames with that."

"...I think so." She thought it over. "Yeah I think I can do it. Just tell me when."
Shiki turned back to look at the skeleton boy. "Anything you want to ask him?"

"Nah; I think we've got this. On a count of three."
I raised my arm, concentrating.
"One," I said, focusing the force into my outstretched hand.
"Two," I continued, and I felt the force concentrate from my hand into the ground.
My eyes flew wide, glowing with the power of the forces I wielded. "THREE!" I shouted, jerking my hand up and bringing with it all of the force I'd concentrated into the ground beneath that seal. As I did so, I made sure to steady both myself and Shiki; didn't want us getting pulled through just as we destroyed the gate.

Right as Neku yelled, "THREE!" Shiki set his force on fire, unleashing a powerful current of flame around them, though it didn't harm the two Otherborns. The fire connected with Neku's force, and she could feel him trying to steady her. In turn she fought her best away from the pull of the Otherworld.

Both their attacks did it, the portal imploded and the area did one last odd morph before the world suddenly began to look normal, the colors weren't as bright, the buildings weren't blown apart, the demonic decor gone. The demons vanished too, even Ghost Rider transformed back into Sora Shimomura. The world was safe...
...for now.
