It was quieting down inside the amphitheater. The teens that had been there were leaving, with a rather loud exit. The concert was over, there was really no reason to stick around. Shiki stayed in her seat though, wanting to be alone for a while. It was the third and final day that she could make her decision. And she had chosen not to take up Izaya's offer. The card he had given her was now shredded into pieces and in the trash. All she had to do now was get through the rest of the day. He wouldn't bother with her again.
Or at least she hoped that he wouldn't.

Ring ring. Or whatever Shiki's ringtone was. It didn't matter.
What mattered was that someone's phone was ringing, and it was hers. The caller ID showed that it was a blocked number, an anonymous call. Just like the one she'd gotten three days earlier...

She took her phone from her pocket and looked at the number. Well didn't this look familiar? She cursed and glared at the phone. She could either answer it or let it go. Of course he'd probably continue to call her until she answered. Might as well get it over with now. She answered it and greeted him with an angered tone of voice, "What?"

The voice on the other end laughed. "Well, hello there, Miss Misaki. Have you made a decision about my offer?"

"There will be no deal. I'm not making it." Shiki glared into the distance. "That's my choice."

From where he sat in the high seats, Izaya raised an eyebrow. Not an entirely unexpected possibility, but not one of the likelier ones in his opinion.
"And what caused this change of heart?" he asked in his usual voice. "Talked out of it by a friend, I suppose... someone whom you went to for advice. Likely, you asked the Ghost Rider, and he told you of my despicable past..."

"So you think I'm incapable of making my own decisions?" She crossed her legs, "This is my choice, Izaya. No one else's. I will not take up the deal." Sora had convinced her not to, but she wasn't going to admit that to him and let him have the satisfaction of being right.

He sighed. "It's too bad, then. I suppose you'll never know, then... never know exactly what your uncle has from you, or how he got your address so that he could get closer to you... never know just what kind of service he wants from you, or why he feels like he must kill all of those close to you.... in fact, you'll never know just how close he is to achieving that goal even now..."

The last sentence made her jump, "What...?" He couldn't be-he had to be...Stop it. She shook her head. "I don't believe you." She raised an eyebrow, "Why do you even care that I'm refusing, Izaya? Do you have something to gain if I agree?"

He laughs. "Well, I get paid, of course!" His off-the-cuff answer was true, but...
His voice became serious again. "Your uncle is a dangerous man, Shiki... why would you disbelieve anything I have to say? Simply because the bargain benefits me, that doesn't mean that I'm getting the better end of it..."
Well, he was, but he wasn't about to tell her that. The favors were a bonus; Izaya Orihara had unfinished business with Sin.

She rolled her eyes, "You really think you need to tell me that? Sure, money is great. But I'm sure you can get that from other people. If money was all you were after, I bet you would have given up on me three days ago. But you still continue to push what you want onto me."

"I'm trying to help you, Miss Misaki," he enticed. "I'm simply surprised that you aren't even willing to take a simple risk to save yourself and your companions... How simply selfish of you, Miss Misaki."
He chuckled.
"I can't exactly say that I disapprove. Stay safe at home, correct? You're a strong girl. You can deal with your uncle; he's the evil you know. Doesn't matter if he destroys everything... you don't really care for any of them anyway. No, you've hardened your heart and soul, would rather sacrifice your friends than take even the simple risk that you might taint yourself with a demon's deal. Who knows, maybe the next thing you know, you'll be back here, wishing to gamble your daughter's life away for fear that her blood will taint you too..."

She jumped up with her free hand in a fist and glaring, "You damn, filthy, disgusting, freaking demon BASTARD!" If it was possible for her eyes to be flaming, they were. "How dare you say that! I won't let them die, do you hear me?! And I will never, never make a deal with someone like you!" With that the line went dead as she hung up. Too late did she realize this was exactly what she hadn't wanted to do; let him know how badly his words got to her.

A laugh could be heard, one that sounded suspiciously like Izaya's laugh, ringing throughout the stadium... this didn't come from her phone, although it did echo through in the split second between when he started laughing and when she hung up...

She caught the echo and silently gasped. No way. He can't be... She looked around the stadium. No one. Shiki spun around and finished her thought. ...here. Sure enough the info broker sat behind her in the seats high up. She glared up at him, "Can't you just leave me the hell alone?"
