There was simply nothing.
It wasn't 'nothing' because Aya didn't say anything else; it was the emptiness that always came with one of these episodes, where, however so briefly, he was Axel again, in the Master's grip and in his Father's grip and he couldn't shake them loose.
Aya said his name, and that helped; then she started to rub his shoulder, and he felt himself relax, losing his stiffness and rigidity.
"Aya," he whispered, hoarsely, not moving other than settling, relaxing. His head was pressed against the wall. "Please... don't stop. I... I need to be... human again..."
At this point, 'human' didn't mean his species, it meant his soul. He could feel the dark claws coming to grab him 'round the ankles and pull him back under.... and somehow, Aya was helping to fight them off, drag him back into reality.

And I listened... I kept rubbing his shoulder and kept quiet. My main thought turned into that he shouldn't be alone because it was obvious that he wasn't going to be okay, at least not tonight.
"You aren't just another object to be played with Lea." It was funny, he's been through more then me yet I believed every word I said to him but I didn't believe this about myself, I couldn't. "You're stronger then that, you're better then that." I kept my head down and kept rubbing his shoulder. "You never deserved that kind of life."

Her words were like a healing salve; they brought him back out of the past, and into the here-and-now. His back stopped burning.
"...You don't either," he said, finally lifting his head to look at her. His eyes were back to normal. "You don't deserve to ever have to understand me."

Once again, I couldn't find words. I couldn't agree with him but he wouldn't need to know that, at least not for now.
I sighed and stood up. "Come on, off your knees." I held out my hand for his.
I was surprised I actually managed to help him honestly, this was my first time bothering to do something like this in a long while.

He took her hand, helped himself up.
At this point, he realized Noctis was still in the room. He coughed. "Uh.... sorry I kinda.... freaked out...." he mumbled.

Noctis had moved to look out the window on the other side of the room, giving the two some semblance of privacy since this was clearly a sensitive matter. When Lea apologized after calming down, Noctis looked over his shoulder at the half demon and gave a dismissive wave. "It's alright, just try not to leave scorch marks next time. Those are a bugger to clean." He said with a smirk, trying to lighten the mood even slightly.

He winced.
"Tell me about it..." He sighed, shook his head. Advil. When he got back to his own apartment, he needed to take some. "I'll help you clean it, if you want. I've got experience doing that." He winced again. "Lots and lots of experience...."

"Sorry Noctis but I don't think I'll be able to help, don't have much experience with scorch marks." I put the moment Lea and I had off to the back of my mind. I can think about that later. I looked around the room and took a deep breath. "Well... I guess we are done with the yelling?"
I hope so. There has already been so much drama today that anymore would be utterly ridiculous.

"It's alright, I should be fine on my own. The ones you left aren't that bad." Noctis said as he glanced up at the scorch marks on the ceiling. At Aya's remark he was once again reminded of the fight and a thought popped into his mind and he looked towards her. "That reminds me. Aya, how did you get into my apartment?"

"Um..." I thought for a moment for a lie but nothing believable came up. The landlady is very protective of the people staying here and wouldn't just hand the keys out to people who asked for them.
"I may have...." I shifted from foot to foot, flustered. "Gotten the landlady drunk and that's how I got the key" I reached in my pocket and handed Noctis the key. Before Lea could say anything, I felt the need to say something and turned towards him. "I'm sure this isn't Izaya's influence." I was going to say more but kept quiet. Why did I feel the need to defend Izaya? It didn't make sense. Maybe he did have a lot of influence on people.

Lea laughed.
"Don't worry, people have been pulling that on the landlady forever. According to rumor, if you can beat her at a drinking game, she'll give you anything you want from her once she wakes up. I don't think that's true, but it certainly gives you an idea of the dragon's personality."

I sighed with relief. Here I thought that he was going to get mad at me or something. I ran my fingers through my hair and looked back to Noctis. "Yeah, sorry about earlier slapping you and technically breaking into your apartment."

Noctis chuckled at Aya's words. He was sure that most people would've looked down on what Aya did, but since it seemed to happen fairly often then it didn't look to be too big of a deal."Seriously, she'll give you anything?" He asked, it seemed a little foolish to have those kind of rules but he doubted that it would be easy to beat the old landlady at such a game. As Aya spoke once more Noctis turned around fully, leaning against the wall beside the window. "It's ok, just don't make a habit out of it."
