It had been a good night so far as Shiki headed home from Veil. It was dark and she was alone, but it didn't bother her. She ran through a mental checklist of many things as she walked. Maybe next time she'd inv-
"Shiki."
The faintest whisper of her name caught her attention and she stopped by an alley. The redhead looked around; had she imagined it? But seconds later she heard it again, except louder.
"Shiki."
The whisper came from inside the alley, and as she stared into it's blackness she felt it. The dark, evil feeling that sent a jolt through her blood and then turned it cold with fear. It was too familiar for her to ever forget. No he can't be...not now...! I have to get out of here. Her feet responded to her thoughts and she began to walk as if nothing was wrong, though inside she was fighting down panic. Then suddenly someone was beside her and shoved her, roughly, into the alley where evil was waiting. As she stumbled she caught the man's grin as he seemed to disappear into the air and Shiki cursed. Trust in her uncle to have "friends" to make sure she fell into his plans.
Inside she moved back, about to lean against the wall when a voice, his voice, came from the shadows, "So nice to see you again, Shiki. It's been just too long." He stepped out from his shaded hiding spot, gold eyes bright enough to strike fear into anyone. Those damn eyes... She masked whatever fear he caused her behind her anger, "Sin." The demon smirked, "Aren't you happy to see me? After all the time we were apart, surely you missed me." Shiki glared, "In your twisted dreams. And I mean the extremely twisted ones." Sin chucked, and Shiki continued to glare, "So, I guess you're here to take me now? Finally bored of your game of chase?"
"I'm afraid not this time, no. Though I'll admit I am tiring of our little game. This visit is only step one...Or I could start by taking care of your distractions..." He hinted. Shiki yelled, "Don't you dare touch them!" Sin laughed and the sound echoed off the walls, "The Network's changed you. Years ago all that mattered to you was your own safety and no one else's... your heart was cold and empty...the perfect piece. I'll have to get rid of these new flaws that you've acquired, but it shouldn't be hard. I know your mind, Shiki. I know you. There was never an escape from that."
"Shut the hell up," She snapped at him. He was always talking this way. This was his way of persuasion. Even in all the time she hadn't seen him, he hadn't changed at all. But her fear towards him hadn't either. There was one thing that had changed in her feelings and it was her added anger. Sin smirked, "It seems I'll have to go through with this after all. If only you were as naive as before..."

The shout had been what caught my attention.
This city had been so quiet before it.
And now, in my wanderings, I find myself drawn to it.
Silently I had waited around the corner, concerned.
My hopes are that things aren't as bad as they seemed.
My instincts told me otherwise.
They were right.
I step into the alley way and walk up next to the girl.
"Whatever your will is..."
My eyes narrow and voice grows deadly serious.
"...I advise you to leave this girl alone."

Shiki turned her head to the man who came up beside her, though her attention didn't fully leave Sin. She knew better than to turn her back to him. At the moment she wasn't really focused on whether they were Otherborn or human or whatever. She just wanted him to leave so he could avoid being hurt.
Sin sensed that she didn't know him, but this man was still in his way. In fact, he realized, this man had the sent of a demon. It was rare that one of his kind would stand up for anyone, but not impossible. Really, he wasn't looking for a fight tonight; just wanted to get done what needed to be set in motion. But if there was a road block, he wasn't against the idea. Calmly he said, "You are interrupting a conversation between my niece and me. I'd advise that you would leave us to our discussion."

Had I...?
No, not possible.
This girl was scared.
I don't think that's something family should be making the each other feel.
"You are scaring her."
My voice still deadly.
"And threatening her if I heard right."
I tense, ready to throw up a spell if need be.
"That is not how family treats one another!"
I mentally growl while trying to keep myself calm.
"And it doesn't matter what species you are, so until she feels safe again..."
I utter lowly under my breath a spell of protection on the girl.
Its not my best.
But it should work for now.
"... I will stand by her side."

Shiki stared at the man unsure of what to say or do. He was definitely not human, which was a good thing. But why was he protecting her? She wanted to tell him to leave and that she could handle this herself. The words however were stuck in her throat. Whether she told him to go or not, she knew, her uncle would still have something to use against her.
Sin smiled, amused, "Clearly, you do not know our family. This is the way we are. And you stand in the way of our bonding." His voice became darker on the last sentence. "This is your final chance. Leave us now, or face the consequences of your interference."

Alright.
This guy is really irritating.
How their family bonds?
That is just wrong.
"I guess I'll just have to face the consequences."
I'll let him make the first move though.
If he's actually going to do anything that is.

Shiki wanted to yell at him. Get out of here! This wasn't good, Sin would kill him...wouldn't he? She looked at her uncle, but it was impossible to tell what he was thinking. All she knew was that if they really did start fighting...she'd fight too, on this man's side.
Sin shook his head. "What a waste of my time. But it can't be helped." The world began to bend, and a Crossing took form in the closed in space around them. Sin watched Shiki, mentally laughing at the girl's wide eyed expression. Surely she hadn't forgotten about being in one of his own Crossings? No, it was only her fear acting on her again. How nice. He wondered if anyone else would come to save her. She'd seemed to have made quite a few connections. Sin lit a hand with his black, dark flames. "Choose your actions wisely, my niece." He gave her a dark smile, then swung out his hand and his flames went for the demon next to her.

A chain swung out, fiery red, seemed to cut through the dark flames headed at Shiki's other savior.
"I finally found you." Sora said, his face catching flame and burning away to reveal Ghost Rider.
"Your game is OVER Sin," Ghost Rider spoke, "Surrender now, I might not destroy you."

How wonderful; it looked like he'd get some exercise tonight after all. The previou weeks' reunion with Ifrit had heightened his temper, and he smelled not one, but two demons... and Shiki. Flame called to flame, and his instincts were on high alert now, more than ever.
Shiki, who was afraid, from the sounds of raised voices. Good. He wanted to kick somebody's ass.
He stepped into the alley, his flames knocking Sin's aside almost casually, and he grinned.
"This a private party? Or can one more join in?" Flames swirled around his arms. Aggression boiled beneath the surface, an aggression that he was normally able to suppress, but he was looking for a fight today, and it looked like he'd found a better one than he'd been aiming for.

Shiki looked from the man who had first showed up, to Sora, who was now Ghost Rider, to Lea, and finally back to Sin. In the back of her head she could hear Izaya's words taunting her. What a convenient time to think of him. With two people she knew about to face off against her uncle along with one total stranger and Izaya's voice to add in, she could only come to one conclusion:
Things couldn't get any worse.
Sin looked to Ghost Rider, "I should have told you the first time, Rider. I don't surrender often. Ask the young lady, she knows it best." He turned to her, "You've been awfully quiet, Shiki. Anything you'd like to say?"
She glared and growled out two simple words, "Screw you." Not what she'd hoped her mouth would say, but she didn't regret it. Her mental plea for them to leave didn't cease though.
Sin chuckled and thought as he looked at each of the three men that had showed up. He was timing how long he was here, he had other things to take care of. But he couldn't leave just yet, he needed to get this done. Might as well even the odds then. Or at least his idea of even. He smirked and a demon appeared and lunged at Shiki. She jumped back, then lit up her hands and swung at it. Other lesser demons appeared around them, quickly. Then Sin sent his flames at all of those against him, except for Shiki. The demons would be her test.

The flames swirled from Lea's arms to the rest of his body, and his eyes were showing their full demonic appearance as he simply batted aside the lesser, darker flames.
"You think fire will hurt me?" he asked, and there was an edge to his voice. "Hah! My father was a demon lord of flame; dark fires or not, that was a pathetic effort."
His claws lengthened, but he kept his distance; rushing in could be exactly the wrong move. He shot a larger, more concentrated shot of fire at Sin, standing back to watch how those flames would be taken. It wasn't going to be an easy fight, for certain.

Ghost Rider was not as overconfident in resistant to fire as Lea was, instead he whipped out two pistols. One he shot at the demons attacking Shiki the other he shot as Sin, holding both of them back until he could formulate a plan to take them both out.

I chuckled from behind the corner and stepped out. "Sin eh?" I couldn't help but be astounded by my luck, this is the guy Izaya wanted me to hunt down. Huh, and the ghost rider guy was here to, everyone else, I didn't recongize.
I pulled out ebony and ivory, my twin pistols and looked over at the ghost rider, maybe I could work a plan out with him, we were both after the same guy after all.
I whistled over at him to get his attention for a second. "You take one and I take the other?" I said with a smirk on my face, this is going to be a fun night.

Suddenly I wasn't the only one defending the girl.
Two men with fire involved with them.
I had to jump back and out of the way of the other demon's attack.
Demons had sprung up and began their attack on the girl.
The space is small so I can't transform here.
My human form will have to do.
I hope my spell of protection will help her well.
Running up I ball my hand into a fist.
Then throw my natural strength into a well timed punch.
It sends the demon flying back a couple feet.
I slide in next to the girl.
"Are you hurt?"

To say that Vergil was expecting to run into such a gathering that night would have been a lie, but he considered it fortunate that he had for among them was the very demon that Izaya had hired Dante and himself to dispatch. As he walked towards them he swiftly drew Yamato from its sheath, frosty blue eyes quickly flicking from one person to another before settling firmly on Sin. Aside from the main target and his own brother, he could recognize only a few others there due to the information he and his twin had been given. His own demon blood seemed to hum in his veins due to the presence of quite a few other demons in spite of whether or not they were full blooded.
