He walked down main street, habit keeping him to one side, away from people. He was used to being alone. He was looking for an alleyway, one that would pull him back into the back streets and away from the rush and the crowd, which reminded him all too much of home.
It was familiar and comforting, in many ways, but in oh so many others, disquieting. Unsettling. Still, at least he knew his way around a city like this, even if it wasn't quite the same, wasn't anywhere near as large.
Everything was in English, of course, but he knew the language, so it didn't really matter. He still felt uncomfortable, for reasons he both understood and could not fathom.
Everything seemed smeared into a grey blur.

This was his first time exploring the place on his own. He had slipped out of the Veil when no one was looking, but that was alright, as long as he could find his way back.
Now that he thought about it, he was probably lost.
But it didn't matter, because someone would find him eventually.
Lost in his thoughts, Pit didn't seem to notice the teen he had clearly walked straight into until it was too late. "Oof!" He mumbled, finally noticing the tall teen who stood in front of him. "Oh gosh, sorry! I didn't mean to! See, this is my first time exploring around here, and.." He began to ramble again.

He wasn't used to being bumped into, really. It wasn't the kind of thing that happened to Joshua. So he went sprawling, wings flying open as he struggled to catch his balance.
He sat up, a little painfully, rubbing his neck. "Ow," he said, sounding more surprised than hurt.

"Wings." He breathed, bright blue eyes wide. 'Well? Help him!' Pit's brain screamed, and he jumped into action, outstretching an arm and quickly stuttering, "Oh dear, I- uh- um.. Sorry!"
His mind was spinning. What was he supposed to do! This was only the second person he had met that was an otherborn!

He came to his feet, shaking his head.
"It's my fault," he said, before he could think of an appropriate response. This new plane was throwing him off of his balance, putting him off his game. He hadn't had time to learn the rules here yet.
Either that, he thought sardonically, or I'm going soft. He chuckled at the thought as he refolded his wings behind him. They were becoming a bit difficult to manage, but he would adapt to them. Wherever he went, he always did.
"I wasn't looking where I was going," he said pleasantly, allowing himself time to come up with a better strategy. He flicked a strand of hair back behind his ears. "I'm terribly sorry."

Pit held his hand behind his back when the teen didn't take it. "Nah, it's my fault. My head is kind of... Full of air sometimes." He grinned softly. Okay, sometimes was probably an understatement, but that didn't really matter right now, did it?
"...So.... You've got.. um.. Wings?" He asked sheepishly. It was awkward, considering this person was probably new to his powers.

"It's perfectly fine," he said, allowing himself a small, self-indulgent smirk.
"So... You've got... um... Wings?"
"Hmm?" he asked, then sighed. "That's right. They're only hidden when I keep them shut..." He had to remember that. "It's a bit of a new experience for me," he said, taking in the awkward note in the other person's voice. He seemed short, but not too terribly young... It was difficult to place his conversation partner's age. He filed away the boy's features for further reference.

He grinned. "Well, that's cool." Pit leaned in. "To tell you the truth, I've got em' too." He whispered. "But showing them off here... Wouldn't be a really good idea, though." He leaned back.
"Anyway, I assume you're new here too, right? 'Name's Pit." The said teen stuck out his hand in greeting.

The boy had wings as well? Interesting...
"You'd be correct," Joshua replied, taking up a casual posture as he eyed Pit from an off angle. "My name is Yoshiya Kiryuu," he said, "but my parents called me Joshua." With that, he took the boy's hand and shook it, a slight smile on his face. "I'm an exchange student, from Shibuya."

"Shibuya?" Thinking for a moment, Pit found that name somewhat familiar. He shrugged. Maybe he had heard it from Lea. "Sound's kind of familiar." Pit echoed his thoughts out loud.
"Right. Well, nice to meet you, Josh." He paused. "Y'know, if I can call you that."

He chuckled. "It's better than some of the other names I've been called," he said. "Shibuya is one of the districts of Tokyo, in Japan. It doesn't surprise me that you've heard of it... it's a very fine city. Everything is always changing there; that's what makes it beautiful..."
There was just something about Shibuya that no other place he'd ever been to had. And yet.... there was something about this city... He shook his head, making it look like he'd simply been daydreaming about home - which, in a way, he had been - and set that thought aside for now.

"Ah. It sounds like a fine place." He gave a soft grin. "I'm going to have to visit there one day, for sure." Putting his hands into his white sweater's pockets, he continued on. "It sounds like you liked it there a lot." Pit then gave a confused look. "So why did your parents decide to move? If it's too personal, I understand."

He laughed. "I'm an exchange student - my parents are still in Shibuya, you see," he replied. "I'm living here on my own while I go to school in this country, as part of a cultural studies course."
Yes. A plausible lie. He disliked lying, but sometimes, it was necessary.
"I'll be returning to Shibuya soon enough," he replied, and at least that was the truth. If he did not... he chuckled. Yes, it would be a good idea for him to return to Shibuya as soon as he was able.

"Oh. That makes sense." He said, eyes wide. "Ooh." Brows furrowed. "Oooh." Slight frown.
"So... You might leave soon?" He began to scratch the back of his neck. "Well, gee. I know I've just met you and all, but..." He trailed off.

"I'm still here for a few months," he found himself reassuring the boy.
You really have gone soft, Joshua, he scolded himself gently, but couldn't put much heart into the words. It was nice being in a situation that didn't require him to choose his words carefully, to poke and prod and tease at the truth until it came out in the very shape he wanted it.
He was so, so very tired of it. His smile became a little bit wider, a little more genuine.
"I might even get to stay longer, if I play my cards right," he said, hoping to even further reassure the boy. "I'll definitely be sticking around a while."
