He grinned. "And now you're starting to see the reason I asked you two to meet me in private. Information that doesn't quite fit, duplicates of people you know, things that never happened to you that I know quite clearly happened to me." His gaze focused on SHiki. "I suppose you remember that I let it slip that I knew your name before we'd been introduced. What if I told you that, despite the fact taht I have nver met or even seen the Neku Sakuraba who lives in this town, I could tell you that he has orange hair and blue eyes?" He flicked his eyes over to Namine. "That he constantly wears headphones to shut out the world?" Back to Shiki. "What if I told you I knew your name because I recognized you instantly, even though you know that we've never met before?"
He laughed quietly.
"I don't even really know why I want to tell you all of this," he admitted, "especially because I know how dangerous it is. But I'm ready for the questions, now... and I swear that I will answer with the truth."

Normally she would've glanced at Namine right away, but she couldn't break her gaze from Joshua. Something about him always made her wary, and now it made sense as to why. She believed him alright, but...distrust was lingering. Her grip on Namine's hand tightened a little, and she finally glanced at Namine for a second before her gaze went back to Joshua.
"Alright...can I ask why you're here?"

He nodded. "Of course. I'm here because it's dangerous for me back home; too many people wished me dead, so I... wished myself elsewhere." A simplified explanation, to be sure, but it would lead to more questions. He knew that it was usually best to give information in pieces, one bit at a time.

He nodded. "Somewhat - that is one of my many talents," he said, flicking a strand of hair back behind his ear. "But, not the one I'm speaking of in this case. Or, rather, two different levels of the same skill."

Shiki nodded at Namine's questions and added in her own, "This home of yours, what is it exactly? A different world? Another dimension? Did you cross some sort of border that...I don't know...shouldn't be crossed?"

He smiled.
"Ten points to the lady with red hair," he quipped, and again, it seemed that something shifted about him. "A parallel universe, much like this one." He thought for a moment. "Not necessarily shouldn't be crossed," he amended. "More... that I wasn't quite careful enough crossing it. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go back for a while, as the travel was strenuous, and it appears that this dimension puts severe limits on my power." He gave a sarcastic smirk off to one side, accompanied by an eyeroll and shrug. "Not surprising, really, concerning its somewhat fragile balance. Wouldn't want to upset that, would we?"

She shook her head no, it was obvious that the more he explained the more her suspicions lessened, "And your power is...?" Her eyes moved to his wings a moment before settling back onto his face.
