I waited patiently for some news hoping the kid hadn't been hurt too much by Obelisk.
After an hour a nurse emerged from Jaden's Room.
"Is he okay?" I asked.
She nodded her head.
"Yes he's stabilized. Took awhile but his heart rate and pulse are where they should be. You can see him if you'd like but keep it short and don't stress him out."
I smiled at her. "Sure. I'd like that."
I entered the room where the beeps of a heart rate machine filled my ears and in bed lay Jaden with his eye's closed and his hair somehow retaining it's perfect shape.
I pulled up a chair and tucked a stray hair behind him. I smiled.
"Hehehe, you look so innocent when your asleep."
I never would have normally acted this way but there was just something about Jaden but made me feel different then when I was with other people.
"Maybe him getting knocked out was meant to happen."
That's when I felt him stir...

Jaden's sleep was stirred at the feel of his hair being brushed aside. His face wrinkles as he groans. "Five more minutes, Odd..." He grumbles out, but knowing Odd, he opens his eyes anyway. The setting was unfamiliar. It was white... and smelled of too much floor cleaner. Lemon-scented. He immediately recognized it as a hospital, somewhere he's become familiar with. They were all the same, no matter the location or people.
What's more was the figure sitting beside his bed. It was that guy from before, the one he battled. It all flashed back to him as he remembered the flash of light, changing into The Shining. He gives a light, weak laugh. His body had recovered, but still quite exhausted from the shift. "That was intense, Riku." He recalled his name rather easily. "Thanks for the match, man. One of the best I've ever had.."

I felt happy. Not since losing my soul have I been so happy. Was it Jaden causing all this? Even so I didn't care I didn't want this feeling to go away.
This wasn't going to be easy.
"Jaden...I...I think I like you. Like REALLY like you but I'm not sure."

Jaden blinks a few times, a little confused. Didn't I JUST meet this guy...? Jaden wasn't opposed to being with a man. He and Odd used to have a thing... But Jaden knew nothing about this guy. "I..." He didn't know what to say. He just blushed a little and stared intently at the wall near the door, trying to think of what to say. And nothing was coming to mind. "I don't.... really know what to say right now, man... That was too sudden, too unexpected..."

I instantly felt ashamed. I didn't mean to make him feel embarrassed.
I felt the heat in my cheeks go red rot and looked away.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean for you to feel bad!"
It was quiet for a few minutes when I decided to break the ice.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. You just make me feel really happy inside."
I grip my chest.
"Something I haven't felt in a long time..."

Jaden shrugs. "Nothing to be sorry for, I guess, man..." Jaden has an uncomfortable look upon his face. He scratches the back of his head for something to do. "You shouldn't apologize for feelings. They're natural... And I guess you can't really help that." He then looks at Riku, his pale purple eyes soft, but almost glistening. Jaden's brown eyes were still showing slight discomfort, but also confusion.

"Thanks man. I guess since it's been so long and so much shit has happened I guess I kinda forgot what it was like to be happy again."
I rub the back of my long silver hair shining in the florescent light of the room.
"Hey, I heard from the nurse they're going to discharge you in about an hour so I was wondering if you wouldn't mind me staying with you and maybe we could do something afterwards?"

Just do it, Jaden. No harm in keeping your options open... Jaden heard his mother, Yubel, speak to him. He groaned, and muttered, "Yes, mother..." under his breath. But Jaden sits up and smiles at Riku. "Yeah, I don't see why not. I've got nothing planned." Jaden looks to his Duel Disk that was leaned against the wall, and the comm device that Jeremy installed was not going off. "Yeah, I'm free."

Without thinking I smothered Jaden in a hug but broke away not long after, my face red as a cherry.
"Sorry, I forgot again!"
Life is interesting sometimes...

Jaden shrugs it off. It did kind of hurt him, but the light pink on his cheeks showed he didn't care. "It's, uh... Don't worry about it, Riku. It's fine." Jaden shows a half-pout at himself, and looks at his now-crossed arms. "What did you have in mind for today, then...? And I presume that you'll be paying?" Jaden gives a glare that is both serious and playful, telling Riku he didn't have much of a choice.

"Well I figured since you seem to like card games I know this hobby shop down on Main Street. It's a little out of the way but they ALWAYS get the best cards in even the hard to find ones and afterwards maybe dinner and a rematch? I promise not to use Obelisk this time. And yes I'll pay, my treat just don't go crazy."
I was tipping around the word but in essence I was asking Jaden on a date....

Jaden lets out a chuckle. It seems a little cliche. Taking him out to a card shop seemed like such a simple thought, one that may have just popped into his head. But Jaden was not one to turn down a rematch. Ever. "I can't promise that I'll be easy on your wallet." He gives Riku a sly grin, that could hide the fact he wasn't being sarcastic.

Jaden grins at him being discovered. "Fine, then I intend to eat you into bankruptcy." Jaden once more gives his sly smirk before laughing hard. We'll see if he's still interested by the end of the night. We'll make a game out of it. "Could you get one of the nurses, Riku? I'd very much like to get going..."

"Sure pal."
I left the room and headed to the desk.
"Excuse me but I'm here to pick up Yuki, Jaden."
The nurse checked her files.
"Alright, and are you his legal guardian?"
I think of something off the fly.
"I'm his boyfriend and he called me here to come get him."
"All right just be sure not to get too rough with him." she said.
"I won't."
Heading back into Jaden's room I replied.
"All right your ready to go. Need any help?"
