Ah, now this was a person Destani would both gladly follow and support with her full strength it seems. Maybe Aqua had chosen the best city to call home. She can't help, but wonder what has her little one in a miff then, what is the problem. She frowns deeply in concern, she can feel the water in her pouch bounce against her leg as she thinks deeply a moment, "Has their been an outbreak of demon then? Or has something worse been happening?" What would drive her pure hearted child to send for her strength?

"You probably know this already, but the Crosings come in cycles," he said. "The Veil has... tides, I guess. Sometimes it's incredibly strong, but after a while, it weakens. Urbadelphia is a place where it's always been weaker than most, and it's starting to ebb again; that means there's been a lot more Crossings than there have been."
He looked away.
"A couple months ago, a demon lord tried to take advantage of that; we're sure he's not going to be the last."

A snarl rips through her, she wasn't expecting that to come from Lea's mouth, but she calms immediately. She lets out a sound before looking at Lea more closely, "I am sorry, maybe I shouldn't press you for anymore information little one... But you are alive now and that is all that matters now, yes?"

He laughed. "I guess so. But don't worry, I can take care of myself. Actually, I could be a Watcher myself if I weren't too stubborn to accept the Head's offer to sponsor me for it." He smiled at her. "Watchers are the best fighters; they go on freelance missions to take out demons. We chased that jackass all the way back to his realm. Felt pretty good to finally get to tell him off..."

"I am not worried about your physically taking care of yourself dear, you can obviously do that," She laughs again, but not in a way to put him down, more at herself and a random thought she had. "You smell of cinders and ashes, fire is your specialty, correct?"

"Yeah," he said, giving her a sly smile. "And you're some kind of sea demon, right?"

Blinking she takes her hand back and gently pulls back up her hood with a frown, "Do I honestly strike you as one? Yes, I come from the sea. But that doesn't necessarily mean that of me."

He blinked. "Huh? Oh, no, I didn't mean it like that. I..." He looked uncomfortable. "I have a tendency to identify Halfers by their parentage. It's a bad habit from... a long time ago..." He shrugged. "So, I consider myself as coming from a fire-demon, you as coming from a sea-demon, Shizuo as an anger-demon. It was the way I was taught..."
He went silent, fingers absently tracing the spikes in his hair.

She shakes her head, "I'm not upset with you, I was just uncertain as to what you were accusing me of is all." Shifting her weight a little she reaches up with her arms and stretches. "But yes, you could say I come from a sea demon, although the preferred term is sea dragon." She's just glad she still only thinks she is a halfer.

"Dragon, huh?" he asked, interested. "Didn't they secede from the demons a long time ago? A lot of 'em came here to Earth, I heard, but they're supposed to be incredibly rare, now."

"They may have, but my mother was one from the Otherworld and my brother is one, brought here to protect the humans from themselves mainly," She nods. "So I assume what you've heard is true."

He nodded again. "Makes sense. My passion is history, you see... it'd be nice to meet your mother, if possible There's so many tings I'd love to ask her..."
To meet a being that old that wouldn't try to ill him, that he could ask about history and that could answer his questions... it would be a dream come true.

It quite literally pains her to lie to him now, that hopeful sound, that excited look... It sends chills down her spine, "Mother and I haven't spoken in a long while, but maybe I can organize it." In truth her mother hasn't spoken to her since she wove her brother into his slumber, she hadn't been pleased with Destani's lack of fore planning. "You love history? My, my... I'm glad I've met you... Do you know anything of what happened the Kohaku River?"

He blinked.
"The Kohaku River? It got dammed up. It's paved over now," he said. "I used to go by there, though. Beautiful place... there's a conservation group trying to get it dug back out again."

She frown deeply, "Then what became of the demon that had resided there... does anyone know?" She had passed her brother's place of slumber as she arose to see it empty, suddenly she's worried beyond reason. "Is he okay?"
