Vaan's head spun for a second, but not enough to make sure he got answers. "Whoa whoa hold on!"
He stepped in between Izzy and the Jotos and stared him down. "What are you talking about? Was that thing that happened earlier a Crossing? What do you mean powers?"

"Well... you know. Like this." And Izzy's hand lit up with sparks.
"Hmmm," he said, giving Vaan another once-over. "Maybe your head did get fogged and I was wrong... but no true Norm without some kinda extra help could take down a dragon like that. They're pretty nasty, even for demons. Well, the evil ones... the good ones split a coupla thousand years ago, took up lives here on Earth. But they went near extinct in most places... oh well." He shrugged.
"Crossing - that's what you just saw. Demons don't like their world, wanna get to ours where they can do what they will with us. Usually, the only people who can see it are people like us. Norms like you? No go, 'less they actually manage to break through. But if it gets too big, or happens around too many Norms, there's a chance they'll get sucked in - like you did. Most of 'em.... well, they justify. THey still can't see what's really going on for what it is. But you're different. That's what I'm talking about."
He grinned. "So where'd you get the cool toys, huh, Vaan? I'll bet they're the reason you're a little more Other than most Norms."

Vaan's eyes shot wide open, completely ignoring Izzy's question he looked at the mass destruction.
Demons? That was stuff noted in the Bible or supernatural TV shows, but with everything he saw here...how could he deny it? He turned to Izzy and spoke, "You-you have powers, what does that make you?"

"Me?" He examined his hand a while, then shut off the current. "I'm what we call 'Otherborn'. Still human, but able to see what's going on. See and experience Crossings, and fight the demons that want to take our home." He sighed, shaking his head, then looked up at Vaan. "We protect norms like you."
A spark ignited over his other palm, and he tossed it from hand to hand. "I guess it's a lot to take in. But you've seen them now. You're practically one of us. And we can't have anyone ratting us out to the rest of the norms... especially not now. Our greatest weapon, and our greatest defense, is the fact that no one knows we exist... except for us." He frowned. "Well... us, and a select few others. SOme of them are our allies.... but some..." He shook his head. "Some of them are our enemies, and they'd love it if everyone else knew about us, too. So they can hunt us easier..."

Josh knelt down by Sophie, just as she had started to feebly open her eyes. "Wha—What did I miss," she asked him, with a slight grin.
"You fainted after I let go of you. You were losing your strength too fast, and one of those guys suggested I get you to stop."
"I mostly meant with the dragon, but who are you talking about?" Sophie remained laying down, breathing smoothly.
"Him over there," Josh said as he pointed to Vaan. Sophie turned her head to look. "You fell over top of me, and we both landed on the ground. He picked you up and carried you, trying to get us out of here."
"Really," she asked, closing her eyes. "That's very nice of him."
"I know. He also killed the dragon," Josh replied.
Sophie just lay there, silent, still breathing steadily; and Josh knew that she needed to rest.

Aqua lets out a sigh of relief, her weapon disappearing as a smile graces her lips. A rush of wind comes past her and then Namine is bouncing next to the kid whom saved the day. Her words running out of her faster than when she's on a caffeine high.
"Oh my gosh! That was AWESOME! You totally saved the day," The blond girl beams, not having heard the conversation that had transcended about Vaan previously and she's seriously stoked! "Like that was hurricane awesome!" She then giggles softly as her excitement dies down.
Aqua comes up next to her, giving a half smile to the collective before frowning, "So... What now?" Her jump onto action instincts still singing in her blood despite the years she had taken to stamp them out. "I mean... Dragons aren't normal, right?"

"Otherborn..." Vaan began, suddenly the actions of a bouncing blond cut him off. He tried to keep up as she moved around him but found himself unable. "O-okay, calm down - look I am not some big hero okay? I didn't even know what was I was doing, or even how to use those weapons till I put these on."
He lifted his arms to show the gauntlets with the rings around them.

Namine rolls her eyes, "Okay, whatever." And then just beams. "Still was cool none the less, wish I could use a weapon with out falling on my face." She giggles again and Aqua shakes her head at the girl. The mother knows Nami is lying, she's seen the blond at work when she's over emotional... Knifes never blurred that fast before in her option.

Nami nods slowly, reality settling over her in a heavy jolt, "Oh yeah, totally... I'm Namine by the way~" Aqua shifts around, nervous, but doesn't add a comment.

Vaan sheepishly smiled back before asking, "Listen, maybe you can help me. I am looking for a guy named Riku Nomura, I have a letter to give him - from an old friend of mine, Sora Shimomura. Do you know where I can find Riku?"

Aqua gives a soft giggle while Nami nods, "Yeah... Actually he was fightin' the fire breathing lizard with us." She laughs as well and looks around for Riku. "He should be somewhere around here... Maybe..."
