...Woohoo... "Is it really that important for me to be there?" I stood up and picked up my backpack again. I wasn't looking forward to being part of this. Looking over at the group and then back to Lea, I couldn't think of much I wanted to do but get out of here, but alas, if it's important I can just leave. I started walking over to the strange bunch of misfits while Neku spoke.
I can't say I was too interested in what he was talking about until he said that all otherborns were in some form of danger. Of all the cities I thought to live in, why here?

I saw Lea and Aya walk in, stand in the corner. He nodded at her, then motioned for her to listen. I sighed.
"Evidently, there's a big nasty on the loose. A demon, and he's looking for someone in our city. He-"
Someone from the back spoke up. "By 'someone', you mean your Halfer pet!" they shouted. "Who else would he want? And why not just give it to him? He'll leave us alone!"
"Yeah!" said one of his companions. "Some 'Code Beta'!"
I growled. This is why I hate being in charge.
"For once," I said, glaring at the person and 'shoving' them back into their seat, "just shut your fat mouth and listen."
Turning back to the rest of the room, dismissing the troublemaker with just a gesture, I continued, "Even if we gave him what he wants, he would stay; or need I remind the rest of you that demons are bad news? It seems that he may also be responsile for the overlarge number of Crossings recently."
Looking around, I pounded a fist into the palm of my hand.
"We need to find this demon, and take him out, before he and his army level Urbadelphia; and I think that's something we all agree is bad."

Sora snickered at "Code Beta" but didn't vocalize it. He also agreed keeping his own mouth shut was good, Ghost Rider wasn't popular at town meetings...

Shiki sent a glare in the direction of the outburst. What the hell, keep your opinion to yourself. She said nothing; Neku handled it. She listened to the Watcher, his explanation made sense. So this was why there had been so many Crossings.
"Any other information on the demon we can use?" She asked.

Lea stepped forward.
"His name is 'Ifrit'," he said; all eyes, including Neku's, turned to him.
He glared out across the crowd; a few knew who he was, but the look on his face kept them from saying anything.
"He's ruthless and relentless. He'll stop at nothing to capture his prey - and any who stand in his way will be destroyed. Once his sight was set on this city, even capturing the person he's after won't stop him from taking it and making it his own. He's not above manipulating people's hatreds and desires to get what he needs - and he likes to inflict pain to get people to talk."

Sora's eyes narrowed on Ifrit, he knew the name, he was supposed to be in his cell for another thousand years...if the Devil sees his exit as a transgression, maybe he'll get permission to wipe him out. Since, technically, his job is put away higher demons...nothing stopping Otherborns from killing them. Which he could let happen, though if he got permission he could eagerly join them in destroying him.

Shiki's expression darkened. This guy was dangerous, someone you didn't want to cross paths with. She certainly didn't want to, but she had to do her part and help. This time, she looked back and forth from Neku to Lea.
"Okay, any specific plan of action?"

"We can't exactly storm Hell. Maybe we can lure him out somehow?" I thought back to the fight where Lea found out about Ifrit through the demon. "It would be difficult though, considering he seems to let other demons do the work for him." I felt like I should add more to that but I couldn't. I don't know anything about Ifrit except that he wants Lea.

"Hell's off limits anyhow," Sora remarked. "Crossings get us close to Hell, but we're dancing on the precipice. In Limbo."

I nodded to Sora.
"Yeah; Crossings are similar to Limbo. When we fight the demons, we do so within the bounds of the Veil, where the two worlds overlap. That's why normal humans can't see them when that happens - they can't see the demons until they actually get to this side. Besides, getting drawn through isn't pleasant - I can tell you all from experience."
I looked around.
"Does anyone have any other ideas?"

I had arrived not long ago, apparently popping in unnoticed. I had seen the large group with Aya and Lea within it's circle, I had been curious so I had decided to check it out. Listening to them speak, I had seated myself on the outskirts of the gathering and had stayed uncharacteristically silent. "Well, Lea never actually said that this Ifrit guy was in Hell, right?" I asked as I looked from Lea to the apparent leader. I wasn't exactly up to date on this Ifrit guy, but it was possible for demons to enter the human world...Right?

I nod in agreement and am about to speak when Aqua says, "He's right... Wouldn't someone like this Ifrit want to watch over his work closely... Make sure it wasn't being messed up?"
Nodding again I continue on with what they both said, "How much does anyone want to bet he's in the city right now...? If we find him, we can destroy him."

"It wouldn't surprise me if he was here," Lea admitted. "You're right, Aqua - he would want to supervise his work closely. But if he were here in the city, why hadn't he found me sooner? Also, how did he create all those Crossings in the first place? Even with the Veil as weak as it is, Crossings are difficult to trigger."
He thought for a moment.
"I wonder if he has a pawn here, a human he can manipulate to his advantage..."

"I wouldn't doubt it. Plain humans are easily manipulated with promises of power. Honestly, look at history, there are plenty of stories." I took a breath and continued "A lot of humans want power and are willing to get it through even the most violent means. It would be dumb to assume anything less from any of the humans in the city."

"Cute." Sora said, rolling his eyes. "Okay so, evil demon, bad news, gotta handle it. Seems simple to understand."
