"Rum and coke would be fantastic. Actually, anything would be good as long as I'm not passed out on the floor later from it." It's not that I wouldn't mind being passed out on the floor, but it wasn't exactly the right time or place for it. I looked up at the strange man. He seemed fascinating enough, that's for sure. As anti social I can get, I felt like I should talk to him.
"After you bring me my drink, why don't you have a seat? You know, take a break?" He felt very similar to me, I was hoping he'd be another halfer like myself. Being a halfer usually means you're isolated by others. Usually it's either fear or pity that causes it. I guess I was lonely.

In response to his comment, Shiki stuck her tounge out at him. "I'm a girl. Deal with it." She laughed and then took a sip of her drink.

He smirked. "You're lucky; I just got on break now... or maybe I should say I'm lucky?" He winked at her. "I'd love to. No heavy drinking for me, though - here at Veil, we do check ID." He walked over to the bar, grabbed her the rum and coke, apologized to Neku (with another of those winks that simply said 'score'), and walked back to the table, sliding her a drink and sipping his own glass of root beer.

I laughed, took a sip of my own. Ginger ale; nothing too fancy for me. "Isn't this a great place?" I asked, changing the subject.

His attempts at flirting were mediocre at best. Cute, but mediocre. I continued my sketch until he arrived.
I turned over the napkin then back at the strange character in front of me. "I take it your an otherborn, yes?" I took a sip of my rum and coke and looked down at his root beer. He kind of struck me as the guy who drinks beer in his free time, this shocked me. I suppose he was working though, I can't say much.

"It's amazing." She half breathed her words, as if the place was only a dream. "Never thought there would be a place like this." A lot of meaning went behind that statement. She'd never seen such a large group of Otherborns all together in one place and actually be enjoying themselves. It was paradise.

I smiled.
"For us, it's paradise. Our own place. There's other places like this scattered throughout the city - one of the tech-savvy kids called them 'nodes' - but Veil's pretty much the largest."
Paradise. Otherborn are always alone, secluded. There don't seem to be that many of us, compared to all the normal humans that live out there. A place that can be called truly our own really is paradise. Here, we're able to network, connect with others like us, and we realize we're not alone.
That was part of the purpose of the organization, of the Contacts and Coordinators.
That's what I was told; and that's what I work for.
If people want to call me 'special' for that? A 'leader'? That's their problem.

He looked at her.
"I take it you are, too?" He took another drink. "Or maybe... something more." His green eyes met hers; he was guarded, ready to leave if she figured it out and then freaked out.
There'd been fights in Veil before because of his presence.

Our eyes met and I could feel a smirk cross my face. "You mean a halfer? Yes I am." For a second I regretted saying so, but I couldn't change it now. Regret was never something I liked to deal with, then again who does?
"So, it's interesting to finally meet another halfer."

"Well expect me to be here often." She smiled brightly. "This is almost too good to be true."
She leaned back in her chair and crossed her legs. "I might check those other places out eventually, though I doubt they're as good as this."

He let out the breath he was holding; he'd worried that she'd either A, freak out that he insinuated she was a halfer, or B, bolt, for the same reason.
When she pegged him immediately, his eyes widened briefly in surprise, before he smirked.
"I'd ask how y'figured it out, but I guess it's pretty obvious." His smirk widened into a sardonic grin and he shrugged, palms out. "After all, most Otherborn never achieve my supernaturally good looks, now, do they?"

"Me too," I replied, taking a drink. "And the owner's the best, too. Takes in all kinds've strays, helps them find jobs, places to live..." I shrugged. Looking around, I realized that the guy from earlier was here. "Hey, look - it's that guy, looks like he did show up after all." I waved in his direction. What was his name again? Sora, or soemthing like that.

Shiki looked in the direction Neku was waving. He was right, the guy was there. It had only been what; a few hours since she'd seen him last? It couldn't have been that long. 'You'll see me around' the last thing he'd said to them. She didn't expect that to be so soon. Still, Shiki excitedly called out, "Hey, Sora!"

Sora turned to them and absently checked the time on his cell phone, huh, it took them 47 minutes to notice me. Maybe the safety of the bar is dulling their perceptions.
He stood up from his spot and joined them on the bar table, nodding to the both of them. "Hello."
He then called one of the waiters, "A drink for me oh and a drink for the lady" he pointed to Aya Brea, "As well, give her this."
He gave the waiter a note and turned to the others, "Nice place here."

It shocked me how cocky this guy was. "Supernatural looks? Yes. Good looks? I suppose, unfortunately you are very aware of it." I smiled a bit at my comment. "So, what's your name? I'm Aya." I felt the need to trust him and to get him to trust me. It wasn't everyday I meet another halfer, I may as well make an ally out of him.
When a waiter arrived, confusion came over me, especially when a new drink was placed down in front of me. I looked up at the waiter and I suppose he knew what I was thinking. He pointed over towards the group with Neku and pointed at the brown haired boy and said "He bought this for you and wanted me to give you this." I grabbed the note from his hand but was reluctant to read it until the waiter walked away.
I looked at the drink briefly. "Looks like I'm quite popular this evening." I looked back up at the group by the counter and then down at the note. "Wanna guess what it says?"
