I pushed open the door to Veil, and immediately was assaulted by sound, even through the muffling effect of my headphones.
Speakers were mounted on the walls, blasting punk and hip beats that sounded like the future all mixed up with the classic sounds of decades gone. Cutting edge lightshows were ready on the moment's notice, though those wouldn't come into play until evening, and the place was filled; I knew from scanning the faces that most of them were Otherborn. This place was perfect for us.
I breathed in the smell of good food and the sound of happy people, mixed in with a bass beat that thrummed in my soul.
I love Veil; love it to death.
Standing at the counter was a guy about a year older than me, with hair the color of fire.

Shiki followed Neku to place called the Veil. He had said it was a popular place for Otherborn, and had offered her a chance to come with him. She had agreed, secretly excited. A place for Otherborn? She couldn't pass that up. Once Neku opened the door, a blast of of music welcomed her. She followed him inside, eager to see it all.
The place was packed, but Shiki accepted it gratefully. Neku led her over to the counter, where a guy with flaming red hair was standing. Is this the guy he wanted me to meet?

I sat in the corner watching everyone. All the excitement filled the air. The sights there always distracted me, the people dancing, talking, drinking and acting like idiots... It's easy to forget your woes here. The music boomed wildly. I could stay here for a long time if I wanted to.
Out of the corner of my eye I noticed the door swing open. A boy and a girl entered and the boy seemed almost familiar. Blue eyes, orange hair. Yes. This is the Neku I've heard about, the "Head Watcher" I believe. It crossed my mind to go talk to him, but then again what is there to say? I didn't want to join his group. I felt fine flying under the radar undetected. Knowing me though, I'll find a way to get dragged into everything. This is going to be a long night. I just knew it.

Sora had been in the bar already, in a corner, people watching. He noted every Otherborn that walked in the bar. Neku and Shiki he knew, this new woman though...he sensed power from her, but didn't quite fit an Otherborn. Who was she?

The guy with fiery hair looked up from where he was cleaning the counter and grinned at Neku and Shiki.
"Heyyyy, Neku!" he called, waving. "C'mon, have a seat. Who's the chick?" He winked at his friend, a kind of 'good job' sign.

I waved back, grinning. "Hey, Lea, this is Shiki." I turned to her. "This is Lea, the guy I mentioned. He's pretty cool, he's one of us."
Kind of. But I didn't know how she felt about halfers; some of us have issues with 'em.
Then again, considering the kind of reaction she had to that diagram...
Eh, I dunno. Best play it safe for now.

"Hey Lea, nice to meet you." Shiki said.
Responding to the wink she gave an amused look. "Pfft, Neku and I? Yeah right." She sat down in a chair at the counter and happily relaxed. This was exactly what she needed right now; a break. The atmosphere was lively, and she liked it.
"Sit down, Neku. You deserve it." She smiled and pushed her hat up a bit so she could see better.

He grinned, something about his smile a bit... sharper than most, just an impression before he stepped backwards, leaning against the shelf behind the bar.
"I suppose that means you're free, hmmm? A pretty girl like you - hard to believe my luck." His smile this time was closed-mouthed, but the angle of his gaze was enough to hint at bad-boy charm. "I suppose I've gotta make a good impression then... or a bad one."
At a raised eyebrow from Neku, he held out his hands, palms forward. "Okay, okay, I'll stop. So, what'll it be for the party-pooper and the pretty lady?"

She smiled, but narrowed her eyes. "I'll warn you now, whatever impression you make, sticks with me." Her smile became more friendly. "Just a heads up."
She shrugged at the question of her drink. "I don't know." She raised an eyebrow at him. "Can I trust you enough to choose for me?"

I watched the group with interest when a tingle rose up my spine. I couldn't quite place it but it did not feel right in the least. A quick look around did nothing but make me more paranoid.
I tried my best to stay put and remain calm but I couldn't get rid of this feeling of being watched. I couldn't decide what to do. Leave calmly? I'd be safer in a group. Staying seemed to be the safest option anyhow. I quickly ordered a shot of tequila and shot it back, drowning out my worries and the world around me in a quick haze with a burning sensation down my throat. I need to not worry so much. I'm safe here, right?

*uses flash step to move between roof tops without being seen in spirit form.*
A unusual number of other born had recently gathered in a small pub, called the veil and more the likely something was going down. Picking a nice spot in a tree across from the building I observe the unusual mismatch group of people. One of them seems to be unnerved and for a second I thought maybe she saw me, but she tossed back a shot of something and shook it off instead. Its never a good thing when a group of people with above average spiritual pressure gather in one spot, bad things tend to be drawn to them.
*lets out a sigh of relief*
"I better move before, I get spotted that was to close. I should get closer to hear whats going on in there."
*Flash steps from the tree over to the roof and sits down to listen to the people inside.*

He grinned. "One special blend coming up for the girl, and the usual ginger ale for 'Phones." He watched with satisfaction as Neku winced, before going into the back and coming out with a couple of drinks. Shiki's was what appeared to be a soda mixture, something blue with a cherry on top.
As he set it down, he explained, "Sprite with a shot of blue raspberry flavoring; a Veil special, on the house." He handed Neku his, then said, "Yeah, yours too."
Wiping his hands, he stepped out from behind the bar and walked over to the young woman sitting at one of the tables.
"Pretty heavy drinking for this early in the day; you want anything else, Miss?" His eerie green eyes examined her carefully, his hands poised over an order sheet.
Sure, there were other waiters in here, but he wanted to go over and investigate. There was something... off about her.

The man took me off guard and I turned towards him quickly. I could already tell he wasn't a normal otherborn. It was easy to tell, just looking at his appearance alone.
"Not really. If you don't mind I'd prefer to be left alone. I'll let you know if I want something later."
I've never been fond of company so I wanted him to leave. In honesty though, him walking up made my worry disappear. He was probably the person watching me. I felt silly thinking maybe I was in some kind of trouble when really it was just someone looking to get my order.

Unsatisfied by being able to hear much of anything except the music I decide that its safe enough for me to enter the building, seeing as how they don't know who I am. At the very lease they would notice I was a stranger, passing thew. Being as the bartender is a normal person I don't bother ordering any drinks, he can't see me anyways and only the otherborn would be able to see me anyways. As I enter the building eyes are drawn to me but most of the people in the bar don't seem to care to much, I guess a stranger entering in there with a giant cleaver for a weapon isnt the strangest thing they've ever seen.
*Looks for a empty seat were I won't be disturbed.*
I notice the same girl that almost saw me earlier and stare at her for a moment, if it wasn't for the spiritual pressure coming off of her I would think that she was just another ordinary girl in the bar and would of over looked her all together.
Hollow Ichigo - *high pitched crackle insane laugh* "Your pathetic Ichigo, just kill them then you can continue onto more important things."
Me - *closes my eyes for a second and rubs my head*
If the hollow in me had his way he would kill all of these people, I had become accustomed to his insanity and it no longer really phased me. But his laugh always sent a shiver down my back, it was a reminder of what would happen if i ever lost control.

Hell-o, whose he? Sora thought, staring at the stranger with the orange hair. The getup is odd, but it's not for show...there's power coming from him. But he's no Otherborn...maybe it's someone unique, like myself.
