I arrived at Veil specifically an hour and a half early, just so I'd know when he walked in. I sat at the back tables, sipping inconspicuously at a drink. My signature headphones were around my neck, my eyes watching the door; Lea was at the counter, just as I'd remembered. I smiled. This was perfect; the new kid could meet someone else like him, probably the first such person he'd ever known.

Roxas walked in with a yawn and a scratch against the back of his head, he had arrived about 45 minutes early, hoping to catch a glimpse of this Neku before he caught a glimpse of him. Of course he didn't know that his plan had already failed, but upon stepping inside he instantly saw the firey haired bar-tender that he had been talking about. Walking up to the bar he gave a low, barely audible whistle.
"He wasn't kidding..."
Stopping at the bar he rested his forearms against it, trying to look as casual (And admittedly, cool) as possible "Hey..." he said nonchalantly raising a hand, trying to catch Lea's attention.

There was something a little strange about this kid, he realized, but that was the case with a lot of the people who walked up to the counter here at Veil. He smiled, realizing that the guy was nervous and hoping to let him breathe easy a little.
"Hey there," he said, finishing up wht he was doing and walking over to where the blonde was sitting. "What can I do for you?"

Roxas looked to his left and then to his right, checking that nobody was listening in on them before leaning more onto one elbow, looming closer towards Lea.
"Neku sent me..."
He muttered nodding and moving his head away, once again checking that no-one had been listening in on them.

He looked a little confused, before starting to chuckle.
"No need to be so secretive," he said. "You're the new guy in town, right? You're quite a bit early."
He leaned on the counter, looking casually over Roxas' shoulder to scan the room - yep, there was Neku; he winked, then took another drink form his glass.
Lea smiled.
"Listen, let me get you a soda for while you wait. I'm sure he'll be in soon enough. And you can relax; as long as you don' start shouting about demons and magic powers, no one really cares what you say... and they only care about that insomuch as it'll probably get you locked up."
He shrugged, pushing himself back up off the counter and shook his head.
"So, what can I getcha?"

Roxas nodded, he noted the red head smile and gave a cautious look over his shoulder but once again saw nothing suspicious, just a few guys drinking dotted around the place and that was about it.
"Yeah, I came down when I heard about some odd goings on in the city, I thought it was at least worth checking out... Neku directed me here"
When Lea asked him what he wanted to drink he took a moment to think before coming to a decision.
"I guess I'll just have a Pepsi!"

Lea grinned. "Best Pepsi you've ever had, coming right up~" he said, going off and coming back with the drink. He handed it toward the blonde.
"So, what's your name, anyway?" he asked, before pointing to his nametag. "Mine's Lea; hard to forget."

Roxas accepted the drink with a smile and took a sip "My name?" he asked "My name's Roxas, and I sort of guessed yours already..." he also motioned to the name tag "But it can't hurt to have a refresher every now and again, right?"

He nodded. "Roxas... cool name." He chuckled. "Don't worry, the boss'll be here soon to get you all checked out and tie up loose ends. Can be a bit confusing for the new guys, so a Watcher always meets with 'em to show them the ropes if you get what I'm saying. Neku usually gets the job; there aren't too many Watchers in Urbadelphia, really. He keeps trying to get me to go for the position, but there are some problems with that in my case..." He glanced over at the blonde, carefully gauging his reaction to the words.

Roxas furrowed his brow at the mention of all these Watchers and such. He took another sip from his drink and looked across at the Red head "So Neku is a watcher, and they sort of help out us new guys? As well as generally keeping an eye on things..?" he frowned slightly confused but starting to get his head around things all the same. "And why won't you go for the job? Ya' seem friendly enough!" Deep down, he had a feeling why, the sense of companionship and camaraderie he had with the bartender, but he'd rather his suspicions be confirmed.

"Something like that," he said, in response to the first half of Roxas' question, before shrugging.
"I have a bit of a genetic defect," he said, keeping his voice low. "The kind of inheritance that's hard to live down. Too many people have dedicated too much of themselves to hating things they don't understand to get how it affects people like us... the collateral damage, if you will." It sounded rehearsed; which 'us' he was using, universal or personal, was something even Lea wasn't quite sure of right now.

"A genetic defect...?" he muttered, narrowing his eyes at Lea, were his suspicions right then? He only confirmed his suspicions even more when he said 'people like us' was he speaking on a personal level there? Was he a halfer too and recognized his own potential "Wait..." he said leaning in close and resting his elbows on the table "Are you a... Y'know, Halfer?" he raised an eyebrow.

Slightly relieved, he allowed himself a small smile. "Yeah. You too, right? I can tell, usually; most of us can." He shrugged. "Most other people can't, since ninety percent of us tend to inherit human traits over... 'defective' ones." There was a definite set of air quotes implied by his tone on 'defective'; it was clear that Lea didn't consider his heritage a bad thing.

Roxas nodded he sort of understood what the fellow halfer was talking about, but a few things were still somewhat unclear to him. Lea blatantly did not seem disgusted or felt any sort of self-hate for what he was, and Roxas respected the man for his attitude. He felt in a way that he should follow a similar lifestyle "What do you mean by, 'defective' traits?"

He was always careful not to flash his hands too much around Otherborn patrons; the kind of self-censor most humans put on what they saw didn't really count for those with ties to the Otherworld, and the sight of something 'wrong' with a person was often a dead giveaway that that person was, somehow, in disguise. Now, in response to the blonde's question, he laid them on the counter; short claws tipped his fingers.
"Proud, but often-inconvenienced, member of the other ten percent," he replied sardonically. "I don't have any tattoos, either."
A bit of a non-sequitur, until someone realized the connotations of the reverse-teardrop 'tats' beneath his eyes.
