"Not technically." I said, downing a few more enemies in one wide slash. "But I have fought before. Quite a lot actually." Dodging another demon's rather hasty assault, I tripped it onto it's back and stabbed downwards. "The last adventure I was on had me fighting a group of very bad people called the Chess Pieces. They were very powerful, but I was able to defeat their king and restore peace to the land!" I said enthusiastically, remembering my previous adventure.

"I see..." He muttered, dancing to the side, slashing across another demon as he did so. It seems that the boy had some experience that could be somewhat helpful, either that or the kid was insane, he certainly sounded it. But then again, who was Jack of Blades to call anyone insane?
He gave a small cackle at his own morose thought, before going back to slaying demons.

That sick feeling... That sick feeling... I hated it. But I knew what it meant. And it meant that I needed to protect people. It seemed so frequent now. These Crossings. I couldn't even come here to buy water without one... It was almost tiring.
And just as it did once the Crossing finally took effect, the feeling was gone. I felt somehow stronger than normal, like every time. And I could hear the violence. The thrashing, the shredding... It was gross. I hid for a while...
But people were here. I had to help them. There was no fighting it back. I run out and see a giant brown monster with spikes rolling them over, a blonde-haired kid with a sword... Oh! And Jack! "Mr. Jack!" I call, extending my right arm as a thorn-vine erupts behind him, restraining a demon that was about to attack. "I can help!"

"More than you know..."
Jack didn't voice his thoughts out loud but he very nearly did. All the same, he cut his way through some more demons, and made sure to finish off the demon that N had restrained. Carving an arterial path towards N, he shook his head as he killed off another demon nearby.
"Restraint? Really?" He asked as he ducked out of the way of some acid spat in his direction, before throwing a knife into the demons head, another soon appearing in his palm as if by some sort of magic. Well, if you considered sleight of hand magic it was perfectly possible that was where it had come from.
"You need to do more than that..." He slashed a demon. "If you want to make an impact here!"

"But... I don't..." Was I really not helping? "I can't kill them. I don't... I can't kill." I struggle out. I restrain one more, suspending it from the ceiling by its arms and legs. "I can't..." Not after seeing the damage it did to me after killing Father... I had saved myself without killing, too. It's not necessary...

"Fine." Jack hissed as he grabbed a demon by the neck, drawing his knife across it's throat, before throwing it to the floor to thrash around. Dark black blood started to pool around the creature as it died. He turned to N, some of the creatures blood splattered over his wrists.
"But when your friends are dead, when your little... Well... Kitten is drawn out across the floor in a sorry state like that thing is." He threw a hand back, motioning to the now dead demon, a few occasional chokes and whistles of escaping air rupturing through it's throat. "I hope you realize that I'd have done a better job of saving her."
With that, he was gone, back into the fray, slaughtering demons.

...Kiara-chan... Maybe Jack was right. He was a bit more hostile than usual, but he was right... I had to kill. Kiara might have trouble. I might have to kill to save her... I sigh, fighting back the tears. "Right..." I mumble, lifting and arm to the demon who had been raised to the ceiling. Vines extend from the restraints, and turn to blades, and like a guillotine, chopped its head off in one swipe.
I couldn't fight the tears after. "Fine! For Kiara-chan, I'll do whatever it takes!" I raise my hands high, and slam them into the ground. It rumbled and shook, huge drills of thorn-vines raising from the ground. They pursued ten demons, drilling them and tearing them to pieces, which flew everywhere, leaving black blood all over.

Jack had to resist the urge to chuckle with every ounce of 'evil' he had. But that would give the game away, and that just wouldn't do. Instead, he simply gave N a grim nod, the kind that said 'It's the right thing to do' even though it was far from true. He continued his slaughter, Otar stood beside him, slamming his staff over the heads of demons whenever they came close, simply spells of frost and lightning and fire that didn't require incantations being launched at those further away.
Jack was in his element. All he was missing was his demon form and the Sword of Aeons, and then all would be good.

"I'll just end it quickly, Jack!" I call and twist my palms on the ground. The remaining demons were ensnared immediately. "Everyone watch out! Please!" I yell, lifting my arms back up, then slamming them back down. It sent shocks all up my arms, as they were crushed, limp limbs and pieces falling to the ground. "That was... it..." I pant out, the demons finally gone. I had protected everyone...

"Whoa!" I jumped back in surprise as the plants ripped apart all of the remaining demons in front of me. "How cool..." I mumble under my breathe as I watch the plants work. "Jack, you didn't do that right?" I ask, finally noticing the green haired man nearby. "Oh someone new! Hey mister, my name is Ginta!" I call over to the man as I run up to him. "What's yours?" I ask with a smile.

I look up at the one addressing me. I was still on the ground. I... I kind of wanted to be miserable. I'd taken lives. Lives... were ended because of me. It didn't seem fair. But something about this kid made me feel, well, less angry. "I'm N." I didn't feel great talking either. My stomach was feeling sick, and I was nearly coated in demon blood...

Jack smirked slightly as he waved Otar to his side and placed his hand over his closed mouth. His hand glowed red for a brief second before he moved it away and gave the Demon Priest a cynical smile.
"Mii- My Lord..." Otar said, giving a sweeping bow, only barely lapsing into Voidian speech before quickly correcting himself, he knew Jack only tolerated the local language whilst on Earth, nothing could risk blowing their cover.
"Get to work closing this." Jack muttered, waving a hand in disgust at the scene around them. Otar gave another bow and went about sealing up the crossing, whilst Jack simply sheathed his knives and approached N, a smile upon his face.

"M-Mr. Jack..." I mumble. I rise on my knees, showing off my blood-stained arms. "I... I did it. Now I can protect Kiara-chan... I can do it now, right?" I had to bargain with him for assurance. I had to know what I did was the right thing to do...

Jack took the boys bloodstained wrists in his hands and gently pulled him up to his feet with a warm (and completely false) smile.
"Of course you can, N. For every demon you kill, you save another 10 human lives. You killed what? 15? 20 Demons? Why, that's at least 150 people you've saved today." He widened his smile and nodded with enthusiasm.
"With you by her side, 'Kiara-chan' is safe."

I smile, faintly, but it grew into nervous laughter. "G-good... That's all I care about... I saved people. A lot of people..." And most of all, Kiara-chan will be safe. "Um... Thank you, Jack. For helping me save people." I let my smile widen, a closed-eye, honest smile. "I'm really grateful."
