"Shiki...Shiki!" With sudden panic I give her a shake. "Oh, no... Come on darling." Did I say panic before, no, I mean I begin to feel pain. Ripping at my heart in my utter fear.
"Wake up honey!"

Suddenly she hit the ground, her back slamming against it. The familiar ring of warning started, someone yelling at her. It was blurred, warped, but she heard it all the same.
"Run!"
She couldn't. All she could do was lift herself up and watch as Sin grinned at her, not doing anything else but that and saying one single word. "Perfect."
And she looked over her shoulder and saw the figure emerge, walking slowly with a grin on it's face...It grinned at her and she gasped-
"Wake up honey!"
Shiki yelled and shot up straight, eyes connecting with Namine's face as her emotions bounced off the walls. "Na-Namine?! How-aren't you-what...?!" She couldn't understand, wasn't she...hadn't she...

I gather Shiki into my arms, "Its okay, just a bad dream." My voice is as soothing as I can make it. "Only a nightmare, you're awake now."
I pause and then begin to rock slowly, "Nothing bad happened... But... Do you... Need to..." Does she need to talk about it?

Just a bad dream? It took a few moments for the words to make complete sense. When they did she sighed in pure relief and clung to Namine, "A nightmare...thank God." Tears formed in her eyes, her heart still racing, emotions going crazy. Shiki held onto the blond as if she were falling, and whispered, "I...don't know..."

One hand begins to rub soothing circles into Shiki's back as I hear her words, seeing the panic somewhat die from her eyes. Inside I wish desperately to understand, to grasp onto what is wrong so I can stand as a barrier from it...
Then she's speaking again and I gives her a gentle smile, "Its alright, dear."

Shiki went quiet for a few minutes, sorting out her confused thoughts. What was real and what was not, who was here and who wasn't. She looked up at Namine, "You sure everything's okay? Everyone? Neku, Aqua, Lea, Sini, Midori, Sor-"
Realizing whose name she was about to say she clamped her mouth shut and looked away, "Neku, Aqua, Lea, Sini, and Midori. They're fine?"

I just laugh softly, "Naw, honey, just had me worried." I push loose strands of her hair back into place. "But I'm used to it, Neku gets them all the time."

"Guess I feel his pain then," she shrugged, "Possibly." She mustered up a greatful look for Namine, "Thanks for waking me up."

Shiki looked to the TV as the screen cast a bright light onto them, the main menu back up. "Movie's over. Well the parts we saw were good." She reached over and turned everything off, changing back the TV settings and then switched off the power. As she was turning to Namine to say something she was interuppted by a large yawn. She laughed sheepishly and rubbed her eyes.

Smiling gently I point to the blow up bed we're on and whisper softly, "I'll be right here... All night... I won't let your nightmares hurt you." And I gently tug her down so we're laying and pull the blanket over us. "In the morning we'll have more cake and then we'll do something fun... Maybe we can even take Neku out shopping again." I beam and then lean over and unplug the curler so it doesn't start a fire while we sleep.
"So... Get some sleep darling?"

The rush of fear over, Shiki can feel the raw exhaustion setting in. Listening to Namine, she felt assured, knew the rest of the night wouldn't be like the ones she'd gotten used to. Smiling gently she mumbled, "Okay..." Then she closed her eyes and whispered, "Night, Namine." And once again she drifted off.

"Good night, darling..."
I pet her hair a moment, mind drifting off to Neku a moment, but decide he'll be okay with out me, besides, this me and Shiki's first slumber party. Smiling to myself I wrap an arm around her and pull her close, tucking her head under my chin. And soon I'm fast asleep.
