Going for a "walk" [Closed]

When I managed to find a way to sneak out of the place humans called a "hospital" I found myself walking along a long street. My only problem at this point were three things.

1. I did not know what happened to Sini and Haraken.
2. I did not have any human money, or anything to trade it in with for that matter.
3. Under my cloak was a "hospital gown", they had taken my real clothes away so I did not have them anymore. They didn't do it on purpose most likely... they just didn't think I was going to break out.

The basic human language I could read, so I knew that this was the main street of their town. But I did not know what was going on. When I grew tired I sat on the sidewalk and leaned against my knees. I pushed towards the wall so I wouldn't interfere with people walking.

I looked down the street and saw a man sitting down holding out a cup. He had a cardboard sign that said, 'Homeless Veteran, need money'. Some people walked by him and threw coins into the cup and some were, as humans called them, "dollars".

So that's how I could get human money.... is this what all humans do?

I put my hood over my head so people couldn't see my face, there was an old box that I ripped a piece off of. I found a pen on the ground and attempted to write "homeless, need money, please help".

I grabbed a near bye cup made of some foam substance and held it up. I lowered my head so no one could see my face. If anyone did recognize me, the lie I told about my family leaving me in another town. Would be proven wrong.

(Damon)

He'd been walking along the sidewalk when he smelled it: the scent of a demon. Not too unusual, but he did want to figure out who it was. It didn't take long as he spied someone hidden under a cloak on the ground. He approached the demon and took notice of the sign. Are those letters or just a kid's scribbles? Damon reached into his pocket and pulled out a coin, holding it out in front of the girl, "You asking for this?"

[Xion]

I did not recognize the voice so I assumed I was safe enough to look up, when I did the first thing I had seen was the coin, then I saw the person holding it. I don't know why I couldn't reply for a few seconds but I felt frozen. Then, I forced myself to not, "Yes please, if it's not too much trouble to ask...."

[Shiki]

Damon raised an eyebrow, then put his hand back in his pocket with the coin. "Trouble? Not really," he drew out his hand that now held a wad of cash and dangled it between two fingers above the cup before dropping it in, "Plenty more where that came from anyway."

He lowered his voice and said, "You're new to this world, aren't you?"

[Xion]

I was shocked at first by how much money the man had put into the cup, but I was more shocked at his question very soon after. I looked at the man for a second to see if it was just a curious human, but after a little she knew he wasn't.

"I'm probably a bit obvious but yeah... I kind of got here by accident...." I said very lower but hopefully loud enough for him to hear.

Damon leaned in a little closer to hear what she was saying. "Accident, huh?" Clearly she wasn't ready for Earth in any way.

"Tough luck. Let me tell you a few things," he said and nodded to the cup in her hand, "You aren't going to get much money doing this. Especially," he tapped her sign, "when people can't read what this says. If you're lucky they'll pity you and throw in a quarter."

[Xion]

I groaned at his last statement, "I don't even know currency here... all I know is I can't get anywhere without money... and...." She looked over at her sign and picked it up, "I never exactly learned how to write... I 'never had the need to'."

[Shiki]

"Well anything else that falls into that category you can assume you're going to have to learn now that you're here. I'm taking it that you don't have a set date of when you're leaving." Damon glanced around the street, "If you need money, you're going to have to get a job."

[Xion]

"A job?" I said almost immediately after he had said it, "I've heard about human jobs... don't you need experience to get half of these jobs?" I replied after I was silent for a moment. I get that this guy is trying to help me and all, but the advice he is giving me sounds like I'm going to be here a while.... well... I guess I am anyway....

[Shiki]

"A lot, not all of them," he said, eyeing her sign, "But you're going to have to be able to read and write." He ran a hand through his hair, "That's a bit of a problem for you, right? At least in the writing department. If you can't sign your name, you aren't going to get far."

[Xion]

I looked at him for a second before looking down at the ground, I wasn't exactly thinking of one thing, but rather many different things at once. How exactly am I supposed to learn these things? self-teaching? Don't humans have... surnames or something like that? How was I supposed to find a job that didn't require experience?

I couldn't think of anything to say after the mind jumble, but to force something out all I could reply with was, "Thanks, I appreciate the help." although the words were shaky and not very reassuring. I really was thankful, I was more nervous than anything.

Damon turned and began to walk away, only taking a few steps before stopping again. He glanced back over his shoulder, for some reason unable to leave. Though he was reluctant to admit it, he felt bad for her. He'd had the knowledge when he stepped into this world. So he couldn't say he knew how she felt.

But he could help...Damon had the ability to. Besides, if Sin knew where his money was going, considering it was technically his, he'd be pissed. And that was a hard thing to pass up. The demon went back over to her, "Listen. I don't normally do this but...let me help you out. I'll buy whatever you need to give you a start."

[Xion]

My head shot up when he came back, I was absolutely shocked. If I had the situation reversed I'd probably have a walked away a long time ago... no I probably wouldn't have. The first thing I did was laugh though, and it wasn't under my control. But it was a silent laugh.

"Thanks, but even I couldn't tell you what I need at this point other than shelter." and clothes but that's a subject I'm not getting into.

He thought about that, "I'll rent you an apartment." A grin came onto his face, "I have a lot of cash that I'm itching to spend. So anything that you think you need or want, just say it." Damon wanted to blow it all, really. He wasn't going broke any time soon. Rather, Sin wouldn't be.

[Xion]

I stared at him in shock, was he a bit crazy or was I just lucky? Either way I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity. I waited a moment before tilting my head and asking, "What is your name?"

I realized at that moment I hadn't introduced myself either, I pointed to myself and spoke, "My name is Xion."
