-continued from A New Life started by Noctis in the Veil section-
Aqua smiles and shakes her head, "I think its just right." She then pulls out a key and puts it into the lock, opening the door slowly, as if to keep it from swinging open too fast. "I'll make us some hot cocoa, if you like." She steps inside and, though her home is warm and cozy on the inside, she feels a coldness enter her bones.

"Yeah, sure!" Hot Cocoa? Really? Shizuo felt like a child again at the prospect of the drink but he wasn't going to be ignorant and turn her down. Besides he couldn't say he was perfectly warm right now, it was taking some time for him to adjust to the change in temperature so maybe the hot drink would help him? "This is an okay place" he said as he stepped inside, shutting the door behind him.

Aqua nods and smiles, "Great... And thank you, I really tried." She then leads him into her living/dinning room/her bedroom. "You can sit anywhere... And please excuse the fact my bed is founded out from the couch, forgot to put it away this morning." She says half focusing as she turns on a couple standing lamps and then heads for her kitchen. She returns with a lighter and then proceeds to light a few candles here and there, their unscented and thus cheaper when they can be found.
"I hope you don't mind... Energy bill is up thanks to the chill... Although with the boys gone I could let it get a little colder..." She says thoughtfully as she disappears back into the kitchen with a lit candle, the sound of cups being taken down and a kettle filled echos in the small house.

Not quite sure where to sit, especially with the fact that the couch was being used as a bed, Shizuo simply perched on the edge of the bed and rested his elbows against his knees. Watching her light the candles he simply nods at her statement "Times are hard right now, when there's demons running around you don't get much time for full employment really do you?" he heard her clattering in the kitchen and smiled to himself.
The house was homely, you could tell it held a family simply in the way it was. It seemed to embody the relationship that Shizuo pictured Aqua had with her sons, it was close and warm despite the fact it was only heated by candles. He no longer had a doubt why the trio were close, in such a home you had to enjoy your company and right now, Shizuo was enjoying his company.

Aqua calls from the kitchen, "Well, that is true." She walks from the kitchen to join him, but sits on her bed instead. "The water will done in a few minutes... You aren't too cold are you? I could grab a blanket."

Shizuo looked across at her and smiled with a shake of his head "No, no, I'm fine really, besides do I really look like the type of guy to just sit around with both hot cocoa and a blanket?" he gave her a wink "I need to retain some of my pride"

Aqua gives a laugh behind her hand and nods, "No... I guess not... But even if you do you wouldn't be losing any of your pride." She laughs again. "You'll just be warm."

Shizuo smiled again "It would ruin my manly reputation if word got out that I'd sat in your house snuggling into a blanket, especially if Izaya got the scent of the rumor, that way he'd be calling me Shizu-chan and mocking me about it!" He scratched the back of his head, his face turning a pale red shade as he avoided eye contact "I might be willing to think about though... If you shared one with me...?"
"Oh god..." he thought to himself "Did I, the toughest guy in Urbadelphia just say that?! Shizuo... You're an idiot... Quickly, do something cool, make up for it, now!" "That is..." he added, reaching up to his face and looking down slightly "If you don't mind..." he pushed his shades further up his nose before looking up towards the nearest light source.

Aqua smiles and nods, "Alright." She then feels around behind her and pulls up a down comforter. She moves over a bit and pats next to her. "We'll share then."

"Nggh... W-what? R-really?!" Shizuo wanted to exclaim in his mind but then he mentally slapped himself "Keep your cool, just keep it slow, move up to her calmly and don't look excited about it... Okay and... Oh..." whilst his internal monologue had been giving him instructions, Shizuo had already sidled up to Aqua and was smiling across at her, taking off his shades he slipped them in the breast pocket of his waistcoat.

Aqua returns his smile and throws the blanket over them, moving closer so they both can get completely covered as she smooths it out over them, "I hope this helps." Her voice soft and full of a mother's love that she didn't even notice that Shizuo hadn't verbally responded and just moved next to her.

"Yeah.." he replied "Yeah it does..." he fidgeted slightly before finally getting comfortable, he brushed the back of his hand against hers, he watched her out of the corner of his eye for her reaction, he'd tried to make the movement as steady as possible. That way at least if she reacted badly or flinched away he could just pass it off as an accident "Oh yeah.." he thought "I just got comfy, slipped then romantically brushed my hand against yours... My bad..."

Aqua's hand turns over with out her thought and takes his in hers, she doesn't freak, doesn't really respond besides that. She just smiles to him again and then tilts her head to the side a moment before saying, "So how do you like your hot cocoa anyways." She had no idea that what they were doing was romantic in any way... This is what she used to do with her friends and then later on her boys after all.

He froze for moment, suddenly regretting the lack of experience he had around women. He couldn't read anything in what was happening, was she jus being friendly? "W-what?" he asked "Oh! Yeah! I don't really mind, I normally just have them plain" he scratched the back of his head with his free hand "You're being oddly open and friendly considering we've just met..." he blurted out, he hadn't even intended to say that out loud "Y'know... Letting me in for a drink and everything..."

Aqua raises a brow, "Am... I?" She pulls her hand away and turns a little bit away, thinking over her actions. "Am I really?" She doesn't see any reason not to... I mean... its common curtsy, right?
