The description Vaan gave to Izaya was enough for the twins not to trust him already, though Sophie was a little confused.
If Izaya wasn't necessarily a 'good guy', then why had someone brought up his name?
Josh had a slightly disgusted look on his face, but quickly withdrew it a heartbeat later when he realized it.

"Oooo, sounds like someone's heard or me, ahahahah!" He grinned, rocking back on his heels, hands still in his pockets, then cam back down to his feet again. "Oh, Shiki-chan, you're so suspicious and protective, aren't you? DOn't worry, my intentions are purely pure this time." He twirled around a little. "So what can I do to help you, Vaan Shepard? It must truly be a bind if Shizu-kun suggested calling me."

Vaan raised an eyebrow at him, slowly explaining the situation, "We're looking for someone. He took something important and we need to get it back, I am afraid the only thing we can really offer is a name: he calls himself the Arbiter.'

"And he obviously has something to do with the Dragons! I mean it totally showed up when he needed it to!" I add in quickly. "We need to find him to I can kill his ass~!"

"Aahhhhh, so you need my help finding this man who threatens the Network...." He took two steps backward, then hopped up to sit on the pole of the stop sign that was still embedded in the wall - hard enough to take his weight, apparently.
"Well, I suppose I can do that.... after all, this is my city, too. If someone wipes out your little group, who will I have to play with?" He grinned, eyes flashing briefly red, and his shadow danced on the ground below him, without response to any sort of movement of light, or Izaya himself, besides his slowly swinging right leg. He sketched a gesture into the air, both waving away and indicating. "Purely mortal politics really do bore me..." He gazed off into the distance, then shifted position on his perch and looked down at them, smirking. "You have my help. So... what exactly do you have in mind?"

Vaan could not deny the cold chill down his spine, or Sora's words in his journal. He felt it was best not to spill everything...that, and he really had no plan.
"Well, for starters...how about finding out where he's going?"

He sighed, shaking his head. "Boring, boring... but I already agreed to help." He casually leapt off the stop sign, shrugging. "I'll be able to deliver that information soon... though I assume you won't say 'no' to any additional information I might give?" Just as casually, he reached out behind him, plucked the stop sign from the wall as if it were lighter than a toothpick, then tossed it - surprisingly gently - over their heads and back to Shizuo.
"I'll see you all when I have that information~!" he said, twirling and skipping a couple steps, before walking away, patting Vaan on the shoulder as he went. "It's been interesting, meeting you," he said quietly, eyes narrowing in an interested, ruby gaze, and then the moment pased and he waved casually over his shoulder. "Try not to die before I've got it, Network-san~!"

Vaan did not move an inch as to what happened, he looked amongst the others and when it seemed like he regained his senses he said, "What the HELL just happened?"

I growled as I watched him leave, feeling another headache start in the remnants of the previous one.
"I hate that guy," I said. "If he weren't so gorram useful I'd have the Network get rid of him, but he made a deal with us a while ago preventing us from doing just that..." I massaged my temples. "I really, really hate that guy."
Then I looked at Vaan. "Izaya Orihara just happened. Trust me, he's really, really good at that." I sighed. "He's a demon, y'know. A nasty one, but nobody's been able to figure out what kind, except that he's very old, and very powerful. It's best usually to stay away from him, because usually, the information he gives costs more than what you're willing to pay for it."

Vaan stared at Neku and looked around the others, it was not just starting to set in on him. The madness of this city, monsters that come out of no where to kill you - dragons that fly around and attack. This city was insane, Vaan was probably surviving on some serious luck - because most normal people wouldn't make it out of here alive.
Damn it Sora...WHERE THE HELL AM I?!

Shizuo caught the Stop Sign sent towards him by Izaya, and held it in one hand as the demon disappeared from sight. He growled softly as he tightened his grip on the sign, the metal screeching slightly as he slowly crushed it in his fist, to the point that the sign made a perfect right angle, before the top half of it fell off, the now thin pole being unable to support the signs weight.
"Damn that flea..." He growled.

Aqua frowns before reaching out and placing a hand on Vaan's shoulder, motherly intuition kicking in, "Don't worry, Vaan... We're all here to help you." She gives him a kind smile while doing so. And she glances to Shizuo long enough to see he's doing okay before she looks back to Vaan with that expression a mother gives her frightened child, strong and safe.

This guy just takes off, summons a dragon and doesn't even give me a hint to go on!" I said as I rejoined the group. "Mind filling me in on what the hell just happened?!?" Needless to say, I was VERY annoyed...
