It was strange how I hadn't felt anything, back at the manor I mean. That... thing... It killed Dad. But I couldn't feel anything. A book once described that one should be "sad." I never really knew what "sad" was, though. Was it this odd numb feeling, like my heart was asleep? I took off my cap and let the green hair rest in my face, before pushing it back out and putting the cap back on.
Maybe it was because of this city. There was so much to look at, so many people to see. It was distracting, sure. But also kind of... scary. I've never seen so many people before, not even in pictures that Dad owned.
A dog came trotting from the junkyard. As he came closer, I realized he had no collar. His hair was messy and dirty. Clearly, it was a stray. I smiled and calmly approached the dog. The dog sniffed the ground at my feet. "Wait there, human. Let me check you out first." I could hear it say. I nod and keep my smile. The dog eventually stops and sits in front of me. "You're a peculiar human. You don't smell of filth and blood. More... clean." The dog said again.
I nod and chuckle. "Yeah. I lived in that big house, in town." I commented, pointing to Urbadelphia.
The dog wagged his tail. "Oh? You can understand me, human? In that case, I am Ziff."
I smile now. "I am N. Good to meet you, Ziff." I pet the dog's head, and his tail wagging picks up.
"Anyway, human, I've got a date with a beagle in the woods. If you'll excuse me..." Ziff said, implying something in his tone. I laugh nervously, nodding, and watching the dog trot off the way he was going. I laugh at myself. Animals were really quite polite... I wonder if other people are as polite... I wonder to myself. Then again, I was never really polite with humans. I laugh nervously at my thoughts, and continue wandering down a dirt path.

It was a another day, or AS normal as a day in my life gets. I happened to be looking around for anything suspicious when I spotted a young man with long green hair walking on a dirt path from what seemed like a mansion. Catching up to him I tapped him on the shoulder. "Excuse me, are you lost?" I asked. There was something different about this boy. Something I couldn't place...

Exploring is always fun~
And do I ever enjoy it. Its daylight so I don't have work and the path way is different from the ones I've seen before, its so interesting. It seems to be much more natural too~
Smiling I continue walking until suddenly I bump into something, looking up I give an apologetic smile, "Sorry." My ears perk up. "Oh! You're scent is new! Are you a traveler?"

From behind me, something tapped my shoulder. I nearly jumped three feet in the air, before falling down. Jumpy... My cap fell off when I fell down. I look up at the man who had tapped me. My face was red. Another human, talking to me. "I, um, er..." I didn't know what to say. I began looking around frantically for my hat. It was under my knee, so I brushed it off and put it back on. I felt like I was sweating. "No, no! Not lost! No, I'm just... wandering. That's not a crime, right?!" I wasn't sure how that came out. It could have sounded frantic, scared. Or perhaps angry. I couldn't remember how I wanted it to sound in the first place.
Before the man could answer, something bumped into me from behind. I scurried away, still on the ground. I didn't see who asked me the question. "No! Not a traveler either! I'm actually... well, I lived in that mansion up there." I point where I think it is, my hat blocking my vision, before I fix it back on top of my head correctly.

I tilt my head and frown, "Are you okay?" I move forward to help the guy up. "Sorry... I didn't mean to hurt or scare you."

I look up now finally. It was a... what was it, exactly? I raise an eyebrow. I stand up on my own and begin brushing the dirt off my clothing. "What in the hell are you?" I ask, trying to look at her. She looked like a cat... but also, a person? Can you hear this? I try asking telepathically. If she was a beast, she would hear it. If she was human... Wait, can humans hear my thoughts? I'd never honestly tried it.

"Well I'm a lion," I giggle at his asking if I can hear him. "Of course silly! Loud and clear~." Though his mouth didn't move I'm used to weird things by now... I was raised in the Otherworld after all... This is normal where I come from.

This was... weird. She was an animal, yet also human? This was strange. I'd seen lions in picture books, none of them looked at ALL like this. "Very odd..." I say. "Compared to the pictures of lions, you're kind of ugly." I reply casually, not noticing the obvious insult.

I looked at the man's hand. "Riku...?" I repeated, hoping I was right. Not to sure what to do with his hand, I did nothing. "My name is N." I said to the two.

I still marveled at the curiousity of this girl. Human and animal... It's unlike anything I'd heard of before. "I'm..." I wasn't sure how to answer. I was still confused about that. "I don't know the word for it, honestly." I laugh nervously. It was both easy and difficult to talk to her. I... didn't really like it, but I did.

"Shocked?" I ask softly as I grapple for a human word I could use. back home we spoke the language of the animals... Or at least that's what I think it was... It wasn't really formal in anyway and we honestly mostly meowed and growled at each other.
"That could be it... amazed, maybe, too..." I nod to N. "I'm not the best with words."

I shrugged. "That could be it." I reply quietly. I decided not to bring up the recent events in my life. I didn't know her, or this Riku fellow. "I guess a lot of strange stuff has been happening recently."
((Note: he does not know about the Veil or the constant demon attacks, or the Otherborn. Sheltered child, he was. ))
