Secrets Over Coffee [Shiki/Neku]

[Shiki]

"More along the lines of making me forget," Shiki tapped her fingers against the table, "But I never noticed they were gone. My head always felt like nothing was missing, nothing like this. Suddenly memories are popping up in my head and it's basically an 'oh yeah that' moment."

She frowned, "The more that happens though, the stronger I feel my uncle's presence, if that makes any sense."

[Neku Sakuraba]

I nodded. "It does make sense, unfortunately. It sounds like Sin's been messing with your head, though I have no idea if that's in his powers. I know two other people in this city with the power to do what you're describing, as well, but... I don't think either of them would have any motive."

I shook my head. "So, it's likely Sin. BUt you problaby already knew that..... helping people is hard, sometimes."

[Shiki]

Reluctant to agree to his theory, she said, "Yeah, especially when there isn't much to go off of. That doesn't seem right though. As much as it kills me to admit it, Sin and I have similar abilities. I probably got them from his side. So how could he be capable of that?"

He couldn't be, not on his own. But he had many connections for sure. Something scratched at the back of her mind, really bothering her. Of course she had her suspicions...

"Do you think an illusionist could be capable of it?"

[Neku Sakuraba]

I thought for a moment. "IT depends on how the illusions are cas. For example... I could probably do it, though nowhere near as neatly, because my powers deal with the mind, and my Guise is a half-solid illusion created by convincing myself and everyone around me that what we're seeing is real. Izaya is both an illusionist and a mentalist, he could do it. Avi could do it, but it's powers focus on the mind entirely. Does that help?"

[Shiki]

"Oh, it helps alright." She narrowed her eyes and growled, "It just makes Damon piss me off even more." Damn second in command had something to do with it, she had no doubt in her mind.

[Neku Sakuraba]

My eyes narrowed, and I felt the change as a little part of my guise failed, my eyes flashing green. "You think he did this."

I gave an inner wince at the growling undertone in my voice, but I didn't say or do anything else, waiting for her response.

[Shiki]

"I think he played a part in it," she confirmed, watching Neku carefully. "All the memory stuff started when he showed up. I didn't even know who he was, I forgot about him." And considering the memories that were back, she had no clue as to why. "Don't loose your cool," she added.

[Neku Sakuraba]

"Strange," I said quietly, shrugging against the itch. "Sorry, Shiki. I won't. It's kind of an... involuntary reaction. It happens a bit more frequently now than it used to."

[Shiki]

"It doesn't bother me," she gave a small smile, "I'm only looking out for you."

[Neku Sakuraba]

I chuckled. "Thanks, Shiki." I ran my fingers through my spikes, tugging on the ends a little. "I could use someone to do tat more often. Namine can't be around babysitting me all the time."

[Shiki]

She smiled, this time a little wider, "Hey if you need something just give me a call. I won't mind. If you need to rant or talk I'll listen."

[Neku Sakuraba]

I smiled wider. "Thanks, Shik. I really appreciate it - you have no idea."

[Shiki]

"Anytime," she said and then starting ticking things off on her fingers, "So unrelated chatter, your sob story, my sob story...did we cover everything?"

[Neku Sakuraba]

"I guess so," I laughed. "How about another cup of coffee and some more small talk? We never see each other anymore."

[Shiki]

"Alright," she smiled then said, "You're right. I mean I don't think I even remember when we actually sat down and chatted like this last."
